I’ve figured out what Kathleen Parker’s up to!

She's angling to be the new David Gergen on CNN!

You know—the conservative anthropologist, who comes on camera frequently to explain to CNN’s on-air talent the behavior of these peculiar species known as “conservatives” or “Republicans.”

David Gergen is getting stale—time for a fresh, new face up there!

I can almost hear the National Geographic theme music in the background.

Read on…

In today’s Powerline John Hindraker calls for conservatives to expand the parallel media architechture we’ve built to counter the MSM’s liberal bias:

[t]he mainstream media–which is to say, most reporters and editors who work for “mainstream” news organizations–have no honor and are not interested in truth. They are, as Card says, “the public relations machine of the Democratic Party.” It’s time to accept that fact and move on.

Our existing news organizations–the New York Times, the Associated Press, NBC, CNN, CBS, and so on–can’t be reformed, they can only be ignored. It is time for conservatives, libertarians, moderates, and normal citizens who are interested in straightforward reporting of the news to build their own news organizations in competition with the corrupt ones that now exist.

Well…CNN might take note of that and think to itself:

Hmmm…maybe Howard Kurtz won’t be enough this time.

Normally, after an election, we deploy Howard Kurtz for a series of hard-hitting “investigations” on liberal bias in the media. We listen thoughtfully to what Howard has to say, nod knowingly as he tells us that we need to do better…and then ignore him.

That may not work this time. While John Hinderaker is a conservative, he’s no nut.

We might need to try something new.

A ha! We can fool people by bringing in some fresh token conservatives to put on the air!

Who can we get. We need a new, fresh face!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Kathleen Parker thought the same thing to herself a month or so ago, right before she called on Palin and the McCain campaign to commit political seppuku when she urged Palin to withdraw from the race “for the country.”

Kathleen, had you ever been on the Colbert Show before? Yet, you wrote that article—and suddenly, you weren’t obscure anymore!

Hey, David Gergen—you may want to be looking for a new TV gig soon.

And I’d already had two cups of coffee this morning!

The last three paragraphs should not be part of that last blockquote; they should be flush with the left margin instead.

And, the emphasis in the first blockquote was not in the original.

    Must get more coffee…

There’s something fishy going on even on FOX. Listening to Brit Hume and most of the Fox “allstars” speak about Barry, you’d think you were listening to the North Korean News at Nine fawning over their exalted leader. Really, how hard would it be for a Soros front group to pay out to any Judas newsman or woman without getting caught? I say it would be pretty easy.

Parker and many of the other “conservative elites” are throwing us under the bus. They figure McCain won’t win, so they are positioning to survive in the further left leaning Washington/NYC environment. If by some miracle, McCain does win, then they will worm their way back into our good graces with a few “oh so reasonable” editorials.

Personally, I’m ready to hold the pundits on “our” side accountable for their behavior this election. They pushed McCain on us as the “only one who can win”, then once we got on board to do the heavy lifting, they ran for the hills.

Weekly Standard, Fox All-Stars, and at least half of National Review are deserving of significant punishment and marginalization, regardless of the outcome of this election.

I’m with you, Dave. So sick and tired of these wimps who are so afraid of saying they are conservative, or adhering to conservative principles, for fear of what? A bunch of left-wing moonbats, who take pleasure in navel-gazing of themselves, or of their own ilk?

I am ready for a new crop of news organizations, and not just Fox, which I am afraid is stumbling all over themselves to be too “fair and balanced.” (Why not just present the conservative side of the issues? THAT would BE the balanced view. Leave the Lib view to all the rest. Sheesh.)

As a recovering journalist, I know that there are plenty of conservatives who would jump at the chance to work for a paper, TV station, etc. that presented a conservative point of view.

I remember reading an article a few montsh ago about political donations from reporters and newsroom personnel.

At a place like NBC, there wasn’t a single donation for a R candidate, not even one for Rudy.

At Fox, the democrat candidate donations still outnumbered the republican donations–by a pretty decent margin.

maintain some semblance of objectivity till this cycle IMHO. I was watching Brit Hume (for the last time) the other night, with my son. Brit started talking about how “attractive” Obama was, and he asked me if he was gay. I said, “I don’t think so”, and turned the channel.

To watch what used to be republican journalists throwing poo at the republican candidates and heaping praise on the democrat makes me wonder if they are covering their collective carcasses in advance of a feared post election pogrom or something like that. Yeah, it’s crazy TFH stuff and not really an intellectually appropriate RedState comment… but what do they know that I don’t? Or what did they drink/smoke that I missed out on?

I’ve grown accustomed to the MSM fawning on the democrats. It’s creepy and frightening when the formerly conservative friendly media hops on the bandwagon during the very time that the US economy is essentially being nationalized. It’s like I woke up in another country – and it ain’t mine anymore.

I agree 100%. Most people wouldnt claim McCain as their first choice (or second or third..) and just like you said, Dave, the moment we started to get behind the guy the stories of doom and gloom couldnt come quick enough.

She wrote a story that my local fish wrap picked up that basically accused Saint Reagan of ruining the party by letting people like Palin in. The girl is batmoon crazy. The story of this election will be how Palin and Joe dragged McCain across the finish line and into the Whitehouse.

  • David123

    That is the choice.

Any objective person who is concerned that the successful governor of our largest state couldn’t function well as president should be terrified at the thought of Obama in the oval office.

    • 1SGinTN

I’ve noticed that on FNN myself. I catch Rush & Hannity on the Nashville Fox radio station, today I noticed something striking. Both of them today touched on the polls, of course. Covered the fact that the polls will show the race tightening in the final days in order to protect their credibility; which polls are acurate and which are not, the two polls in a couple of states that showed a lead swap; etc. I’ll be doggone if the network’s news blurb at the top of every hour didn’t lead with “Obama leads in the polls!!” with little qualification or detail. Could have just as well been a CNN news report.

        who aren’t issue based.

I see Obama as the candidate of the century for college students.

Question is, how many will vote.

        • Tim_Schieferecke

I must admit that as a political junky, and knowing what I know about The One, I am unable to see him as anything but a hard line socialist tool.

          • JSobieski

But part of me also wonders what it would feel like to jump out of a plane without a parachute.

I guess I have a greater self-destructive impulse then you do—which is bad for me, good for you.

          • Tim_Schieferecke

He was quite a man. We’ve delved pretty deep into his life, and I believe a blockbuster Hollywood movie could be made about his life. I’d love to see Mel Gibson take that on as a project!

          • JSobieski

It would make a great movie. I’m surprised no Polish film maker (there are some good ones out there) has ventured to make a film on this topic.

            I guess we Americans make the best action/war sequences . . .

          • Tim_Schieferecke

From the late 1640s (Cossack Uprising), to the Battle of Vienna in 1683, he was in a state of almost constant battle. I would love to see Gibson’s cinematography for his Winged Husaria troops. They really had no equal with their cavalry charge and the use of the 20 foot long lance. It was 17th century shock and awe when they rode into the enemy infantry. My son wants to go to Poland someday to see the various places Sobieski lived in and fought at. He thinks it’s neat to be a descendent of his.

          • JSobieski

If your son does go to Poland, let me know and I can provide some tourist tips
