What Would Jesus Do? Promote Liberal Policy, Using a Child at a Funeral, Natch!

Promoted from diaries. – Moe Lane.

I debated posting this video, because it is a child. If I had found a transcript, I would have used it instead. But, I’m hoping people will be mindful that it is a child, mourning for his Grandpa. The fact that he is being exploited to spout policy promotion that he likely doesn’t even understand is on the Adults, not on him.

I post it only to show the hypocrisy and the gross opportunism prevalent on the left and on vile display during this entire week filled with nauseating Kennedy hagiography.

What Would Jesus Do? We are to believe that he would wink away negligent homicide in favor of Obamacare, evidently. Homicide? No big whoop; the REAL danger is tonsil poaching and feet pilfering by evil profiteering doctors. Profits are the true sin, you know.

I know I’m a somewhat lapsed Presbyterian, but I must have totally missed the part in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount when he said “Give us this day our Government Run Health Care”. I also don’t recall Jesus ever saying “Tithing to charity? Meh. Thou Shall Giveth it all to The Government”. I probably subconsciously squelched it, as I am an evil Conservative and, as such, clearly must hate children and poor people and want them to get sick.

The funeral procession later went on to the Capitol Building where it was to stop once again for a prayer. I think it went something like this “Blessed are those who will pass Cap and Trade. And Obama said, Let there be more expensive, unaffordable Light”.

Funny, the Left is constantly mocking many on the Right for their faith. What’s worse? Being honestly faithful (or “bitter clingers holding onto to their bibles” as Obama prefers to refer to those of Faith) or USING faith and invoking Jesus’ name, claiming to know what POLICY Jesus would favor, when it’s convenient to you?

Worse, the staggering hypocrisy when it comes to children. Sarah Palin had her children on stage with her at the convention. They came up to congratulate their Mommy. She picked up her baby and held him because she loves him and she is proud of him. This was called “pimping” her children, exploiting them, using them. How dare she? Satan!

But having a MOURNING CHILD pray tearfully for policy, for Obamacare … at a funeral .. that’s appropriate and something “private”. I’m sure we on the Right will be eviscerated for even pointing it out. Like Chappaquiddick, we aren’t supposed to notice. It doesn’t fit the narrative. Or if we do notice, we are supposed to think it is all worth it; that the ends justify the means.

The entire funeral was used as an Obamacare rally. Some sacred moment. Some faith.

Dear Left: Since you are apparently now big on Jesus, you may want to study up on something he actually *DID* say:

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Luckily, we bitter clingers DO know that passage. And we know wolves when we see them (and not the aerial-hunting kind).

Amen.

Must read take over at Hot Air as well

embarrassment at all because one would have to have morals to feel nauseated at that pure political use of a child. If a Republican EVER did that they would be DRUMMED out of the party. LIBERALS are the worst of humanity.

I was noticing one of Teddy’s grandkids, Ted Kennedy, III. That kid was sorely in need of a haircut and he looked just like Kinison.

Then on one of the channels, might have been Fox News, they were saying that maybe this is the kid who could take his grandfather’s place as head of the family, some day. Jesus.

My New Testament doesn’t seem to have a verse where we’re called to help using other people’s money. And if we’re going to use the WWJD argument …fine…if it’s WWJD…time to open up prayer in school, stop abortions, teach abstinence, and on, and on. Our current system is based somewhat on the Hippocratic Oath. It is about life. And that’s even at risk.

this time their conduct would differ from what was exhibited during the Wellstone Memorial?

    • red4ever

They turned the Wellstone memorial into a political event and it backfired. This will too.

  • kellymch

and just now took the time to watch the video. It made my jaw drop. I’d like to say I’m stunned but I guess I’m really not.

  • JadedByPolitics

It boggles the mind when they do it but they keep on doing it because they have no MORALS and cannot sense this is DISGUSTING!

As a conservative practicing Catholic I see nothing wrong with these petitions. The prayers of petition are part of the Mass where the congregation asks the Lord to answer prayers. It’s ok to ask for these things. The Lord will know how to respond. He handles billions of prayers daily. Surely, tens of millions of them are contradictory.

At a funeral mass it is entirely appropriate to pray for the intentions of the deceased. It is also common for children to read the intercessions. As a child I did so myself.

The phrasing of health care as right vs. privilege in that petition does not necessarily mean universal government-run health care. The statement is consistent with the teachings of the Church. Indeed, I believe that capitalism through the free market is the most effective manner to deliver the right of health care to the people, just as it has delievered the rights to food, clothing, and shelter, as called for in Church teaching.

I have not listened to Obama’s eulogy, so I cannot comment on that. And I am sure that the media and Democrats will try to manipulate these prayers to suit their purposes. Nevertheless, I see nothing wrong with them. Even liberals have the right to

It’s not like they petitioned for universal access to abortion and euthenasia. That would have been scandalous.

The petition is for health care for all. It does not call for the passage of any particular bill. Indeed, healing the sick is a duty charged to the Church by Christ.

Often enough, there will be a petition for world peace. And when that happens, the conservatives in the congregation don’t flee the church protesting the dismantling of missile defense. They say, “Lord, hear our prayer.” in the hopes that there will be world peace.

I would also like to add that it is normal during the intercessions for the last petition to state something like “and we also ask for your intercession for that which we pray silently for now.” So although the cameras did not catch it, there were likely many prayers on behalf of the unborn, elderly, sick, dying, deceased, and perhaps even a few for Mary Joe Kopechne.

I know that the health care debate has riled us all up. But before we rush to condemn the Kennedy funeral as another Wellstone memorial, I hope that the non-Catholics, lapsed Catholics, and poorly cathechised Catholics, will make an effort to understand the role of petitions in the liturgy of the mass.

Speaking of which, I’m off to the Cathedral downtown. I wager that Senator Kennedy will be mentioned in the petitions this evening.

… it’s noted that most of the intercessions were based on words from Ted’s speeches. I found a longer clip of the section for Prayers of the Faithful but it says it can’t be accessed in my country. (WTH?)

Let’s set aside this event, and focus on defeating bad legislation and promoting solutions based upon liberty.

…because at that moment, it ceased being a memorial and became a political event.

Assuming other political crap didn’t happen before that. I wasn’t interested in seeing it.

I think I made the right choice.

  • mbecker908

It’s a Kennedy. And I’ve run through about a dozen comment possibilities, all of which would get me banned. Let me just say that every time I see a Kennedy I’m tempted to rethink my positions on both abortion and infanticide.

  • http://twitter.com/snarkandboobs Lori_Z

most of the time, really. But, to be fair, I didn’t watch it throughout. I couldn’t; it was far too infuriating. But every time I did tune in, it had more of a political rally feel.

I feel so badly for the grandchildren. Can’t they just mourn their Grandpa? Without being used as political tools?

It’s something I liked about Jackie Kennedy; she kept her children from that and I always respected her for that.

  • http://www.redstate.com/tnjim TNJim

I too watched bits and pieces of it and came to the same conclusion. I really just caught those while channel surfing, but happened to land there while the grandson was saying this. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I do agree he was probably told to say that by the adults who had already given it the feel of an ObamaCare

These children was saying something that I doubt they understand, about a topic that they have no clue on, with words prepared by some political hack from the inner circle of the Kennedy clan. To think otherwise is too unkind a way for me to think of a child, yes even a member of the Kennedy clan.

I think normal people will get that point which is how stupid and clueless the hacks in the Kennedy inner circle really are.

I must respectfully disagree with you.

  • Husker

I believe it was Moreen Dowd who coined the phrase “moral authority” when defending Cindy Sheehan against criticism by the right, when she was used as a pawn by the left to bash Bush. The left will claim these two children have the moral authority above criticism to use Grampa’s memory into pushing a policy in the name of the Lord.

The left is notorious for coercing children to push a candidate or agenda. Anyone remember Alana Wexler, president of Kids for Kerry, who gave a speech at the 2004 Democrat Convention chiding Dick Cheney? The little preschoolers singing praises to Obama? I bet their parents were so proud, forcing their children to learn songs and practice speeches to impress their liberal friends instead of letting them play outside with little people their own age, just being kids.

I’m agnostic, but I don’t think the Christian’s Jesus would sanction forced duty by the threat of a Roman’s sharp spear. I believe they used to call that slavery.

    That’s just my take.

  • Next93

That’s strange, because when *I* see a Kennedy, all I can think of is how fortunate we are that the Founders had the wisdom and courage to get rid of one Aristocracy, and how foolish we are to allow it to re-emerge.

I realize that Massachusets is considered “New England”, but ther DO understand that Congressional seats aren’t lifetime positions handed down with the family name. Don’t they?

  • mbecker908

However, the Kennedys are a blight on the country that reduces the threat of Ebola to that of the common cold.

That one will grow up to be another clueless hack.

  • blooch

What you say is all too true, and probably what we see here is the germination of at least one more troubled and desructive life in the Kennedy clan. It’s almost a rite of passage for them to be shoved on stage in a funeral for one of their elders. These kids are just now discovering the price they must pay for their privilege and the pressure that is beginning to weigh on them. We’ll see how these kids turn out.
