Does The ‘Shell’ Health Care Bill Have Any Teeth?

Dead Sister's or Otherwise?

The short answer is: Do not trust. And verify.

Upon the release of the ‘shell’ 2,300 page reconciliation health care bill, which includes a public option, immediately some started issuing calls to calm down, that it’s a shell bill that will allegedly be stripped by the Rules Committee. Allegedly is the key word. While it is what we are being told, there is no guarantee. In fact, the air drop rules committee strategy allows for any provisions that they need to pass the bill, and that can include the public option or anything else that they wish to insert.

Public option is technically back on the table. And the only way it will come off the table, is if it is stripped out. If.

Why on earth would anyone believe that it would be? Or that any of it will be? Why would anyone believe that the Democrats play fair and that we can all work together all gentlemanly-like and in good faith? They cannot be trusted – they will smile to your face and then turn around and bite off your pinky. They lie to members of their own caucus and now admit they have no plans to remove funding for abortion stipulations.

Additionally, we have no idea what will be in the final reconciliation bill and we won’t know. It is not a transparent process. Nancy Pelosi has already said that they “have to pass the bill, so you can find out what’s in it.”

The Democrats have made it clear that they are all in. They’ve also made it quite clear that even the Constitution will not stand in their way. A fundamental change to our Country and the principles upon which it was founded is their ultimate pot. They don’t care if it causes them unpleasantness in the short term. Socialized medicine gives them permanent power in the long term.

They also know this is their last hand at the table. They know they will likely be swept out in the 2010 elections. They need to do it now. And they will stop at nothing to do so. The more ludicrous it sounds, the more likely it is that they will attempt it.  Remember, this is their end game; they know they’ve over-played their hand. They are now left with one last bet.  They *know* they are in deep trouble in 2010, regardless.

Pelosi has been bluffing all week about having the votes. Perhaps that is a way to create plausible deniability when they pull a sneaky move; they can then try to deflect it by saying “we had the votes anyway”.  We cannot fall for their bluffs. And we must make sure that no one else does either.

Melt the phones. Call the Democrats in red districts who may care more about their personal re-elections than the ideological pot.  Call Republicans and force them to realize that the Democrats are “all in” and to stop with the dangerous “bi-partisanship” and being polite stuff.

The time for polite is over. We must be on guard for any possibility and the GOP must have the fortitude and the spine to stop each one.

Do NOT trust. And verify. Vigilance is what is needed now.

Good advice to the grassroots. If there’s anything the ‘tea parties’ or any concerned citizen can agree on, it’s transparency. And that means a lot more than just posting the bill, it means forcing representatives to defend it line by line.

They are representatives (public servants), after all, not oligarchs.

…it is time to get to work and put the Dem’s out of business.

said yesterday on Fox that he is waiting to get the score back from the CBO for the “new” bill. He said that that was the delay in voting. If there is no bill, or if the bill is going to be adjusted later, how can CBO score something that still does not exist? He also made it clear that the Slaughter rule will be used if that’s the only way they can get it passed.

Like a few people here have already said, please just go ahead and use the Slaughter rule. Oh pretty please, please Slaughter us.

I thought I read, back through this process, that in order to file any claims, someone had to be hurt by this legislation before a lawsuit could be brought before the court. Is that true?

The main thrust of the legislation is not to take effect until 2014 or so. There are some provisions though that would be immediate, such as the tax increases, and, the insurance companies would have to not drop or refuse because of pre-existing conditions.

The Progressives are trying to tell everyone that their private insurance premiums will increase dramatically. They use the Anthem increase in CA as an example. The fact is, with no pre-existing condition refusals, the government is forcing those huge increases that will have to come.

The people on twitter last night were driving me nuts saying “don’t worry, it’s a shell game, Public Option is not on the table”

Except it IS on the table. These guys are pulling out every idea and proposal and method and scheme they’ve come up with in the last year and are throwing it at the wall and are waiting to see what sticks.

If we give them the power of our protection by telling everyone not to worry about it, we’ll be doing their job for them.

and say “nothing to see here, move along”?

They will stop at *nothing* to pass this. We must constantly be on guard. Trust them? I don’t think so.

They are not entitled to any degree of Congressional courtesy. The only job the GOP has until November is to defend the Constitution from an internal enemy. Take a page from the leftist playbook. No compromise, no quarter, no means are too extreme to protect our heritage from these barbarians.

They are socialists – led by the Marxist in Chief.
What they are trying to do is not very “democratic”.
These “men” are throwing out the rule of law.
They must be defeated – not reasoned with.
What part of this do the Republicans in Congress not understand?
If they won’t defeat them in the halls of Congress then I shudder to think what the “real” fight will come too.

given up the pretense of being democratic or even loyal Americans by their construct of this anti-constitutional end run, the “Slaughter rule”. So appropriately named. It does nothing less than slaughter the entire lawmaking process. It is CLEARLY defined that these bills be voted on before being sent to the President’s desk. Speakers and Chairmen of commitees come and go, but the Constitution trumps all. To all these traitors in congressional clothing: Scrap this bill, go home and suffer your election losses and fade away like the good little nuisances that you’ve become.
