I am a Republican

I am a Republican. Our party was formed in 1854 to abolish slavery. 10 years later, it was gone.

I am a Republican. We believe in equal rights so strongly that we formed in 1854 to stop Democrats from treating blacks as pets.

I am a Republican. In 1860 we nominated a man who hated slavery, and Democrats went to war rather than give up their “pets”.

I am a Republican. For the last 200 years, Democrats have fought to keep blacks on the plantation, not wanting them to be free.

I am a Republican. My party has always pushed America to be color blind.

I am a Republican. I don’t care what color your skin is. My party has been the party of abolition, desegregation, and equality since 1854.

I am a Republican. Did you hear me? I said I don’t care what color your skin is. Now that’s cleared up, let’s talk.

I am a Republican. America is an idea worth more than me.

I am a Republican. My party doesn’t like war. But we like freedom more than we like peace.

I am a Republican. The Constitution should be read as those who wrote it meant it.

I am a Republican. Government exists to defend the freedom of its citizens.

I am a Republican. This nation is exceptional because its culture allows me unlimited success or total failure, and anything between.

I am a Republican. The American Dream is doing what I want and getting to decide when I’ve got enough or have had enough.

I am a Republican. Above my labor I value property; above property, life; above life, liberty.

I am a Republican. We don’t give five year plans for Americans. We give freedom, so Americans can plan.

I am a Republican. If a government shutdown or cutback will hurt your business, you should be planning for that.

I am a Republican. That government is best that governs least.

I am a Republican. When government is smaller, the people are freer.

I am a Republican. Government doesn’t grow in one area without growing in every other.

I am a Republican. Government is not the solution — government is the problem.

I am a Republican. All power, all authority, should be vested at the lowest level possible. Most of the time, that is the citizen.

-~:~-

I am a Republican. A gun in the hand of a frail old woman makes her the equal of any brute who would do her harm. We like equality.

I am a Republican. My neighbors know they can look to me in time of need.

I am a Republican. When we say we are for equal rights for all citizens, we mean EQUAL. RIGHTS. for ALL. CITIZENS.

I am a Republican. Life doesn’t begin with conception — life continues through conception.

I am a Republican. The right to life is ours from the moment of conception to our last, labored breath.

I am a Republican. If you want your liberty, you have it. If you want my vote of approval, behave yourself.

I am a Republican. Tall fence, wide gate.

-~:~-

I am a Republican. I believe in changing things, if there is actually something wrong. Usually there isn’t.

I am a Republican. Our party has always stood for equal rights, smaller government, and the traditional family.

I am a Republican. I’m a fiscal, social conservative, pro-gun, pro-life defense hawk. Some of us are not all of those, and I’m OK with that.

I am a Republican. Each of us believes a little differently, but we have a name. In fact, we are a name. We’re all RINOs.

I am a Republican. Even the most liberal of us are not wealth-redistributing commie drones.

I am a Republican. I will not smear other Republicans, nor will I stand idly by while others do. I will defend them.

I am a Republican. I hereby endorse the Republican nominee for President in 2012, whomever that may be.

Yours in liberty,

@lheal

“I am a Republican. I hereby endorse the Republican nominee for President in 2012, whomever that may be.”*

Including, as Mark Levin sez, “an orange juice can”.

*And, I will be on my knees many times asking the Good Lord to intercede that this “whomever” be not Jon Huntsman or Witch Doctor Ron Paul. But, I’ll plaster my car with Jon Huntsman stickers if I have to do so to keep Obama out of the White House for another term.

And when I watch the debate tonight I will be looking for the first man or woman who states, “THIS IS MY PARTY, AND ALTHOUGH WE MAY HAVE SLIGHT DIFFERENCES, ANYONE ON THIS STAGE WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE CURRENT OCCUPANT OF THE WHITE HOUSE.”

No more needs to be said.

      ;^)

He handed it to them on that subject something fierce. Too bad he did that Global Warming PSA with Pelosi and then shat all over Paul Ryan’s budget. Newt was in good form tonight.

Is the timing of a campaign announcement really that important in the larger scheme of things?

Thanks you Loren for spelling out once again that larger scheme of things.

I want to be a Republican, and in most qualifying ways, I am. But I distance myself from the brand, because the party has transgressed against conservatism and the good of the nation too many times in too many ways for me to fully identify with it or offer unconditional support.

I will work to make the Republican party what it should be. But until it is, I will self-identify as a conservative on principle, a Republican because there is no viable alternative.

I want inspire people to be Republicans again. You’ll notice that I tread just this side of saying Republicans have to be conservative.

It’s actually a regular series I do on Twitter.

Just send these little phrases to each of your Republican candidates to use when they are at a pubic speaking forum

    EDUCATION
Democrat solution: Raise taxes and throw more money at bad schools
Republican solution: Give people the choice to send their kids to better schools (forcing bad schools to close or improve performance)

    HEALTH CARE
Democrat solution: Raise taxes to fund a nationalized system of health care rationing
Republican solution: Give people choice and access to free market health care

    LABOR
Democrat solution: Raise taxes and re-distibute funds to social welfare beneficiaries, blatant organized union favoritism, corporatist croneism
Republican solution: lower taxes & reduce govt regulations allowing the capitalist system to invest, grow and create jobs.

    HOUSING
Democrat solution: Force the banks to write toxic loans to people who cannot afford to own a home
Republican solution: Give people freedom and opportunity thru economic policy to determine their own housing needs

    FORIEGN AFFAIRS
Democrat solution: Unilateral talks (deal-making behind everyone elses back)
Republican solution: Multi-lateral talks (negotiating with all effected parties)

    ENVIRONMENTAL
Democrat solution: Destroy the oil/gas, nuclear and coal industries in favor of un-reliable and expensive green energy sources
Republican solution: Protect the public from harmful industrial waste in air and drinking water.

    ELECTIONS
Democrat approach: Run smear ads containing lies, finger-pointing, blaming the other guy, spinning the issues, using suggestive graphic images (Paul Ryan lookalike shoving granny off a cliff), pandering to secularists and special interests.
Republican approach: Run ads that show contrast between the candidates, promote freedom and opportunity, smaller more efficient, less intrusive govt, informative of issues and solutions, cater to peole on an all-inclusive basis.

    ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
Democrat solution: Ignore the law. Allow free-flow of illegal immigrants to penetrate our border so we can pander to them, allow them to get jobs, give them welfare benefits, and solicit them for votes.
Republican solution: Uphold the Law. The United States is a sovereign nation and the Government is (by Law) responsible for protecting its borders

    GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE TOWARD THE PEOPLE
Democrat attitude: The people are stupid. The government knows what is better for the people. The people need to be saved (and controlled) by the government. The govt should use the people as pawns by dividing people via ethnic, sexual, racial, economic, religious (or secular) groupings so we can target each group for schemes paid for with someone elses money that they will want and vote to keep us in power to protect these social programs.
Republican attitude: The people are free and have equal opportunity to follow their goals and dreams in life and work in our society of Laws. The govt should not interfere in peoples private lives or business so long as they follow the rule of law.

    GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE TOWARD BUSINESS
Democrat attitude: Profit should be taxed more, success should be punished with higher taxes and stricter regulations in favor of secularists, minorities, and the poor. The government OWNS all the money in the United States and allows business to keep enough to stay in business so govt can tax them and use money to gain economic equality for those less inclined to achieve.
Republican attitude: Business should be allowed to thrive in a free-market capitalist society with less intrusive govt regulations. The people OWN their property and money. Taxes should be minimal. Regulation should promote a fair playing field without favoritism nor interference to fund wealth re-distribution schemes.
