McCain-Obama Interviews to air on Monday Night Football
It will be the first NFL game played in the D.C. area on the Monday night before a presidential election in 24 years. The Redskins defeated the Atlanta Falcons 27-14 on Nov. 5, 1984; Ronald Reagan was re-elected the following day.
The Redskins, in fact, are an accurate barometer for presidential elections. According to Steve Hirdt of the Elias Sports Bureau, who coined the term “Redskins Rule” in 2000, the following bromide has held true for the past 17 presidential elections: If the Redskins win their last home game prior to Election Day, the party that won the popular vote in the previous election wins the White House; if the Redskins lose, the party that lost the popular vote in the previous election wins.
In this Monday’s case, a Steelers win would forecast an Obama victory; a Redskins win would indicate a McCain win.

Will you please take 2 minutes to watch our new ad, Energy Independence?
In a second I will tell you why it’s so important that you watch this ad. First, let me explain why GOPAC has created an ad at this point in the campaign.
This election, voters are going to elect candidates with concrete ideas for bringing energy costs under control and protecting Americans from those who want to do harm to us.
Which means Republicans need to make sure voters know that we support an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy independence.
Conservation. Nuclear. Wind. Natural Gas. Clean Coal. Oil. No one source will provide our country with complete energy independence. But combined Americans will no longer need to depend on energy coming from sources that are unfriendly, unreliable or both.
Not only do voters need to know where Republicans stand on energy independence, but our candidates need to be focused on this crucial issue in these final days.
Training Republicans on the importance of discussing energy is not new for GOPAC. You may recall, we’ve been urging Republicans to discuss energy independence ever since energy costs skyrocketed this past summer.
At the Republican National Convention, the impact this issue has on winning voters’ support became clear with the response I received when I said Republicans believe it’s time to “Drill, Baby, Drill!”. We now have “Drill, Baby, Drill!” bumper stickers and lapel pins that our candidates and supporters are using to promote energy independence.
We also sent our candidates across the country a DVD of energy independence speeches by former Shell Oil President John Hofmeister and Texas State Representative Phil King. Those speeches are also available on our website via video and podcast.
Now, here is why it’s so important that you watch this ad.
We need voters to hear the Republican message that an all-of-the-above approach leading to energy security goes hand-in-hand with national security.
The best ways to do this are: 1) by having strong supporters, like you, forwarding this ad to your family and friends; and 2) by airing it on popular websites such as MSN, FoxNews, ABCNews, YahooNews and FoxBusiness.
Right now, we don’t have the resources to buy the air time to get this ad in front of voters. We have already used every dollar available to invest in thousands of Republican candidates this year.
That’s why I’m asking you to make the most generous contribution you can to GOPAC right now.
The contribution you make today will be used to air our ad, “Energy Independence.” In turn, you will be able to look back at this moment and know that you played a vital role in moving America towards energy security and national security.

Thanks,

P.S. Voters need to know that Republicans support an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy independence. We created this ad to do just that. Will you please make a contribution today so we can air it on popular websites such as MSN, FoxNews, ABCNews, YahooNews and FoxBusiness? Thank you.
