Who won the battle over the shut down

  • The Democrats got 99% of the spending they wanted but were afraid to put into a budget.
  • The Republicans approved the largest spending increase in history
  • The President gets to claim he brokered a deal that cut 39 billion dollars the largest cut in history
  • Americans still think the world will come to an end if the government shuts down, and due to the hysterics of the Republican leadership they think a shut down is a scorched earth policy that would destroy the country faster than out of control spending.
  • The republicans backed themselves in a corner. They can’t refused to raise the debt limit after approving $3,860 Billion in spending.
  • The Ryan budget is dead in the water because every attempt to cut spending will be met with a caterwaul by Democrats accusing the irresponsible Republicans of reopening those scorched earth attacks again.
  • The President looks mature, responsible and in control.
  • Boehner looks like a school boy taken for his lunch money.

The democrats won such a lopsided victory it is hardly likely the Republicans will win any seats in the election let alone get anything done in the next two years.

The only hope is a leadership change. But it is probably to late even for that too.

Let’s put the numbers aside for a minute, and consider this: the Democrats are now fighting on our ground, much like the tax debate. Before Ronaldus Magnus, taxes were raised and no one really seemed to care. Reagan changed that, much like the TEA party has changed the spending paradigm.

We are seeing real, substantive cuts…not decreases in projected spending, but By God cuts in programs. We have reached a tipping point in what Americans will tolerate in wasteful spending, and this last election, along with Paul Ryan’s new budget, is a paradigm shift in American politics.

I don’t know that some Republicans in Washington fully understand that, and implementing everything we want right now is unrealistic, quite frankly. Normally, I would’ve said ‘shutthe government down (for the record, I am a federal employee and a retired military guy) but I was against a shut down for the simple reason that American troops risking their lives for me wouldn’t get paid, and that’s crap.

I don’t care what the reasoning is, or the moral arguments for shutting the government down to get more of what we wanted, or whether or not Republicans could’ve ‘spun’ well enough to put the blame on Democrats for the shutdown. At the end of the day, not paying our soldiers while they could very well die was BS, and I’m glad it didn’t come to that.

My son is in the military, overseas. I am well aware of the problem. So, when Paul Ryan’s budget comes up, Obama simply says, nope, not gonna sign it. What do we do then?

There will never be any substantial reduction in the spending because by definition that means shutting down government in Washington. You take away funds from ObamaCare and Democrats will scream you are shutting down an essential government service.

As for not paying the military. He loves that airplane and those helicopters. If he refuses to pay the military he is stuck in Washington. No commander in chief would dare sacrifice militart families, and get away with it. Think through why he announced a canceled visit that would have had him flying on Marine one to the Virginia coast,

Not paying the military is an empty threat. And there are plenty of counter measures to it, but first, you have to engage.

Nothing matters unless we gain control of the Senate & Presidency in 2012.
Ryan can write all the budgets he wants – but it won’t mean a thing unless we get in the drivers seat.

The democrats are desperate and I did not see or hear anything from them that should convince ANYONE to vote for them. If they stay in power then SS, Medicare and America will be bankrupt.

Don’t fret over this 40 Billion – just remember – that is only 10 days of spending.
We need to cut the democrats & the democratic party before the real work can begin.

TWO PERCENT, the difference between legacy Republicans and Democrats.

Legacy Republicans and Democrats are 98% the same. What exactly do you think we gained that makes the American people want to give us control of anything. As for the deal, Obama will take the credit and come off as the best man for the job.

The Republicans could have used the budge mess that the Democrats as something to rub their noses in. Instead they are funding it themselves. How can you say we won any respect when the Democrat socialist agenda is 99% approved by Republicans.

You say wait two years and things will get better. That is more of the same thinking that got us into this mess. And not it is too late to change thinking.

I agree – when I said “we” I did not endorse either party.

“We” need to kick out amyone who wants to keep wasting our money down a rathole.

I concentrate on the democrats first because their is no hope to sway their feeble minds.
