Rule (9): The threat is worse then the thing itself.

This is a fundamental underpinning to successful organizing. The limit to any attack is stop short before people realize that the threat was bogus. Obama understands this. That is why he is panicking.

His threat to default on the interest, social security and on military pay is only a threat, one that he probably won’t survive. And now that the time to make good on this threat is coming near he realizes that the fear of the threat has not had it’s intended consequence. The Republicans are prepared to ride it out and let the voter decide.

So Obama is faced with looking like a fool. He stiffs his loyal followers and drives independents into the Republican camp. Or he admits it was all a bluff and he is powerless to do anything. Not a choice he expected to make.

So how do the Republicans respond?

Today there were a number of articles discussing the possibility of the Republicans defunding the EPA, or the NLRB. Now, it is time to change the discussion. Time to take the power of words away from Obama.

Speak after me…..

Mr. President, we think you have turned loose <insert variable>to destroy America. We understand that we will never be able to stop you, but once the government is shut down, we can make restoration of the government contingent on elimination of <insert variable>

Variables (choose one, very often, repeat constantly)

- the EPA.

- the NLRB

- ObamaCare

- Corps of CZARS

- Eric Holder.

 

If you can’t figure out what to do with this, just tell me where to reach you and I will create the sound-bites personally. The difference between Obama’s threat to destroy America, and the Republican’s promise to eliminate the tools that  Obama is using to fundamentally change  America is what makes the shutdown a win-win for Republicans.

    The temper tantrums are real. Like any juvenile who has suddenly been grounded. Obama bleed Alinsky red. He has been using the rules for radicals against the Republicans every step of the way.

    Unfortunately, he forgot he represents the government, it is the freshman Republicans that represent the grass roots organizations

    Obama does NOT want a shut down. He does not want to choose between laying off his loyal followers and sending grandma out in the cold.

    Either way we win. More importantly, there is no practical way, even if we win overwhelming majorities and the White House that Republicans will undo the bureaucracy that Obama has created. The Democrats will howl like made and Republicans will cave.

    But shut down the government, and Obama will have to deal to get it turned back on. He knows this. And once shut down, it will be far easier to eliminate some major items.

    No, sir. Do not fall for the organizers tactics, use them against him instead. He most definitely not want a shut down. It is one of Alinsky’s most important points. Do NOT go so far as to actually have to make good on the threat because the actual “thing” , in this case the shut down, will turn out to be far less damaging to the Republicans then the propaganda he will receive as the hero who saved the day.

    He can’t win if he doesn’t break before the shut down.
    We can’t loose unless we blink.

    Rule 9, The threat of the thing is more effective then the thing itself.,

    “Counter” Rule 11, if you push a negative hard enough and deep enough it will break through to it;s counterside.

    Obama has gone to the mat with a government shut down to many times, for too long and has pushed it too deep. The negative has turned in a positive for his opponents.

    Obama the “great organizer” can see that, he is counting on Republicans being too ignorant of his tactics to realize the trap he is in.

    He does not want a shut down.
