Why does Rokey Suleman think our soldiers don’t deserve to vote?

Why does he throw away their votes against the law?

Rokey Suleman is a bad person. Earlier I introduced you to him as someone who is not counting military ballots in Fairfax County, Virginia, in spite of the recommendation of the Virginia Board of Elections.

Now he is doing so in defiance of a the State’s Attorney General, who issued an advisory opinion:

Tell Rokey Suleman to honor our American soldiers and count their votes.

Rokey Suleman
Fairfax County General Registrar

This is allowing voters to be disenfranchise. I guess ACORN is not bipartisan as they suggest. Were is ACLU?

Because, the military is at war with his friends, the same one’s that are America’s enemy. And, since America is being protected, Rokey can’t stand it.

Registrar Suleman is correct that Virginia state law requires that these ballots be rejected.

Attorney General McDonnel is correct that federal law requires that the ballots be accepted.

The Virginia Election Board is expected to rule today that federal law trumps state law.

Based purely on the facts, everyone is doing their job in accord with “rule of law.”

Poster Soren Dayton departs radically from conservative principles in asserting that “Rokey Suleman is a bad person” and therefore, that issues of good-versus-bad (as decided by whom, pray tell?) are more important than rule of law.

This election is going badly for conservatives, in large part because the conservative principle “respect for rule of law” has been forgotten and/or abandoned and/or undermined by too many.

How can we keep his from shredding the ballots? Court order?

At this point we need to make sure that these ballots are kept intact for a court to rule should that be necessary.

If he shreds the ballots, those votes are gone forever. Prosecution after the fact would be nothing compared with his ability to throw the whole election to Obama through his lawless conduct.

I sent Rokey an email asking him to count the military ballots. Here’s his response:

I am taking a moment to answer your e-mail out of the hundreds of e-mails that I have received.

I did not choose to do this. This was a decision made by the Virginia legislature, passed down by the State Board of Elections and when I asked my county board if we could ignore this requirement they voted 3-0 to uphold the law.

We have received over 75,000 absentee applications from military and civilians. This affected 63 ballots of those 75,000 and of those 63 only 6-7 were military. The rest were ordinary folks like you or me living overseas. I was not disenfranchising the military.

But, why let the truth get in the way of a good story. It is unfortunate that people are using good folks like yourself to hype an agenda with things that are so far from the truth. People decided they could use a very small issue for partisan political game and chose to demonize me instead of working with me. I pointed this issue out to military voting rights groups in September. I alerted them to the problem and said we needed to fix it.

I have received threats, my staff has been abused verbally and my friends across the nation have been contacted regarding this. All because the truth does not matter. Again, I was not disenfranchising the military. I understand how hard it is for the military to vote. The first ballot I ever cast was an absentee ballot in boot camp.

I hope that a small portion of the truth sets your mind at ease,

    Best,

    Rokey Suleman
