Another out of state Ohio voter

Could have been stopped by following the law ...

Yet another out-of-state Ohio voter was discovered, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer:

A Connecticut man apparently registered to vote and cast a ballot in Hamilton County while visiting during the so-called “golden week” when anyone in Ohio could register and vote at the same time.

The man’s ballot is being held at the request of a special prosecutor handling a voter-fraud investigation in Hamilton County.

This person appears to have been participating in something like the Vote from Home strategy, where people come in from out of state and register during same-day registration and voting. Note that this was only discovered when the voter himself reported it:

Further details on the out-of-state voter were not available. The elections board said the man called the board and requested that his ballot be pulled and not counted.

How many voters didn’t report their own participation in fraud? Furthermore, what if he had voted on an electronic machine, so his vote couldn’t be pulled? Election Journal interviewed several people who did that here and here. Note also that if Secretary of State Jenniffer Brunner had required HAVA checks, this registration would have likely been caught.

    I’ve wondered why an otherwise decent person would do something so wrong. That question first came up when all those Oxford scholar people of Vote From Home did it.

    Why would an otherwise decent person do such a thing? The answer is simple. They have been told and believe a lie: the Republicans suppress the vote. It allows them to think that they aren’t doing anything wrong; they’re just evening the score. Doubtless that’s what state officials tell themselves as well.

    Just got robo-called by the Dole campaign to vote for her…. on my Michigan home number! I registered to vote as soon as I moved here from NC in July! I know they’re slow to update these things, but how did they get my new number and not get my new registration?

    Ironically there seem to be plenty of voters on each side of this election who are afraid that the OTHER side isn’t playing fair. Conservatives (among others) want to be sure that only those legally entitled to, are able to vote. Liberals (among others) want to make sure that EVERYone who is legally entitled to can vote and have their vote counted.

    Can any of you smart people think of ANY steps that Democrats and Republicans could take together after the election to reassure the electorate that U.S. elections will both be and appear to be open, fair, and honest?

    Strange question. Following the law might help, except that Brunner wouldn’t be able to steal Ohio’s electoral votes.

    anyone from Ohio on the line? Recall. Recall Brunner and Strickland. If the DOJ won’t enforce the law, then the citizens of Ohio need to stand up.

    Been a few different points flowing in this thread, so hang in here with me as we go through them…

    OHIO SAME DAY… Remind us again of the same day register and vote date when it comes up in 2012 so us Michigan Republicans can Adopt A Park Bench for the day and Vote in Ohio! (WARNING: SARCASM THERE)

    ACORN… And you Dem’s want to tell us again that ACORN is just a penny-anty, little, disorganized, inept, outfit that really won’t amount to any “Real” Fraud. Yeah right!!!

    EARLY VOTING… If some of these folks that push the “Early voting” (which greatly increases opportunity for abuse) are so casual (and/or LAZY) about voting they shouldn’t be voting. You have the RIGHT and you need to want to exercise it!!! Voting should be limited to First Tuesday in November as the Founders put forth, with the availability for those who HONESTLY may not be able to make the Polls that day! Yes, if turnouts are actually going to start going up, more equipment/volunteers at the Polling sites need to be put in place to ensure we can/do get people in/out in reasonable time-frames.

    There are alot of people who feel that the notion/opportunity of Early Voting is pandering to the Lazy and/or purposefully opening up chance to commit fraud.

    VOTING IS A RIGHT BUT ALSO A DUTY/RESPONSIBILITY to vote ON Election day. For those who HONESTLY cannot vote on Election day there is Absentee voting.

    If indeed more people are FINALLY going to care enough to get off their hind sides and get out and actually want to vote, things do need to be done to allow for moving people in/out so lines don’t last as long as they have been. That is, always has been, in part, a question of Money.

    GOVT. MUST PROTECT OUR RIGHT OF VOTE… Perhaps, one day, the Federal Govt. will protect our Right to have our vote to actually count and require proof of citizenship for Registration and an ID at time of voting (all of which would move things along). Actually requiring people to be a Legal voter will cut out/down some of these lines (people how have never seen the Chicago/Detroit and perhaps some other areas, just still don’t get the Fraud).

    ONE CITIZEN, ONE VOTE

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS…. No doubt someone will want to jump down my throat about the proof issues. If you have to REGISTER (that doesn’t seemed to have been such a harsh hardship, it is also not so much a task to expect people to take their Vote serious enough to care to prove Citizenship when Registering. They have plenty of time (years of time, if they don’t wait to the last minute to decide to do so; but perhaps you’d rather we suffer with Fraud for the ease of the Lazy). Likewise once Registration is processed, one doesn’t have to have a Drivers License, States offer ID’s to non-drivers (and, obviously, would be more-so required to do so to Citizens [with actual indication if someone is a Citizen on that ID or not] if we were to finally enforce Legal voting.

    ADF NEEDS TO FILE SUIT AND GET TO SCOTUS…. I want the ADF to file a Lawsuit on my behalf for the Govt. NOT protecting my Right of Vote (and it to count) and not be infringed/offset by a Fraudulent vote/voter!
