Absentee ballot fraud in Troy, NY

Dem, Working Families, and ACORN officials implicated

Every once in a while Democrats and the media assert that there’s never any election fraud or that it rarely results in cast votes. This is false. My favorite example is the 2003 Democratic Mayoral primary in which 32 people were convicted of voter fraud, and the election was subsequently thrown out by the court.

It turns out that the Troy, NY municipal elections are highly contested this year. And when elections are close, and especially in primaries, the stakes get high. And the fraud starts. In this case, the fraud was over the Working Families line. And the ballots themselves explicitly link the fraud to Democratic Party officials and Working Family Party officials to that fraud. From the Albany Times Union:

Documents at the county Board of Elections show the fraudulent ballots were handled by or prepared on behalf of various elected officials and leaders and operatives for the Democratic and Working Families parties. A Troy housing authority employee, Anthony Defiglio, who sources said oversees vacant properties for the Troy Housing Authority, also handled many of the fraudulent ballots, according to public records and interviews with voters who said they were duped.

Victor Gonzalez, a resident of Griswold Heights, told the Times Union he was visited several weeks ago by Defiglio and another man who asked him to sign an absentee ballot application. Gonzalez is registered on the WFP line. But Gonzalez, like many other people interviewed, never saw, signed or submitted the absentee ballot later filed at the Board of Elections under his name.

Also, someone else wrote on the Gonzalez’s ballot application that he couldn’t vote in person because of a work conflict.

”I’ve been out of work for about six to eight months. I’ve been laid off and looking for work,” he said.

Now Erick has been on a tear about Bertha Lewis, the CEO of ACORN, the former head of NY ACORN, and the Co-chair of the New York Working Families Party. ACORN has regularly been accused of fraud and there seem to be significant convictions every year, but they just through the staff under the bus. In this case, it seems it goes up into WFP leadership. How do we know? Read on for the answer.

We know because the applications say so:

Some of the suspicious absentee ballots list Defiglio as the person who could pick it up for the voter. Residents of Griswold Heights said he is a familiar figure around those complexes. Other ballots were handled by, or returnable to, Democratic or WFP party officials, or candidates for citywide office, including: Troy Council President Clement Campana; City Clerk William McInerny; Councilman Gary Galuski; Rensselaer County WFP Chairman James Welch; council candidates Michael LoPorto and Kevin McGrath; and Tom Aldrich, a LoPorto campaign volunteer.

Next time a Democratic operative or a reporter tell you that there’s no such thing as voter fraud, send them this story too. Here at Redstate, we are looking forward to covering the trial and convictions.

It’s not like there’s a nationwide pattern across several states involving dozens of people in similar patterns that might make one think a RICO investigation is justified or anything. (* rolls eyes *)

This is the first year absentee voting will be permitted for any reason. I don’t know what steps will be taken to ensure the integrity of our gubernatorial election, but I’d gladly volunteer to be to take part in whatever process has that as its goal.

Another branch of the great ACORN tree = Obama. Where in the hell is the FBI?

    • eburke

      Obamabus ala Chicago-style.

Can you imagine the holy hell Obama’s minions would unleash upon the FBI if they started investigating this seriously?

And for what purpose would they stick their necks out? So that Eric Holder can decline to prosecute so that he can go after *true* evil in our midst in the form of CIA folks who thought they were defending their country against…well… evil.

Actually, I can’t put enough 5s on this comment because I’d be here at my computer for the rest of the day.

I fully expect them to start finding (creating) problems in the voting processes early so as to set up the “need” for them to “fix” the problems…to their advantage.

We better take the offensive on this one.

it’s an area where the Democrats are…generally reasonable people. If you look at the WFP website, they have COMPLETELY taken over the party up here. This fits their profile.
By the way, other Working Families candidates include Kirsten Gillibrand and Hillary Clinton.

I was born in Troy. I work in downtown Albany.

I sent this to another conservative blog, and posted it on a conservative message board this past Sunday when the story broke.

I sent the Times Union article to Glen Beck. It’s amazing how our local Democrats (and long time friends) have gone out of their way to identify themselves as WFP candidates. My guess is that they don’t know about the WFP — ACORN connection, or even the ACORN and WFP scandals. They are probably regretting it now after this news.

We live in Clifton Park. Both my wife and I figure that God put us here for a reason. One of those reasons is watching Blue’s Clues right now, on DVD.

Matter of fact, the other conservative blog (Barking Moonbat Early Warning System) asked me to contribute stories for them, after I sent it to them. I suppose that if one has Glenn Beck on their fourth point of contact, it’s not a good thing.

Cockroaches go scurrying when the light of day is shone on them. (Is that correct–”shone?”) So will ACORN be.

and volunteer to be an election judge, monitor or create a monitoring group. Every time another honest person becomes part of the election process there is a new opportunity to prevent fraud, discover fraud, and publicize it. It takes little time for any individual, but can have an impact nationwide if we all do it.

SEEMS LIKE FRAUD AND obama Go hand in hand. Beings we are such a forgiving nation, shouldent we just ask him to step down. We can always appoligize to him for electing him and letting the effects of being a victom influence his behavior. “OH Wait”, We (republicans) didnt vote for him. Maybe he can get that changed also. Everything always works out on paper, you know take alittle here add alittle there and if all else fails change the rules or LIE.
