Questionnaire: Good-bye Senator Lindsey Graham in 2014?

I know that 2014 is a little bit of a long way from now…but with the primaries slowing down, I hope many of you will answer the following 5 questions. I just want to get a sense of how enthusiastic the movement is about getting rid of Senator Graham.

Please answer the following  questions:

1) Do you believe that South Carolina needs to replace Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) in 2014? (yes or no)

2) Would you support any candidate who is fiscally responsible (with at least an 80% rating from the Club for Growth (or a state affiliate)? (yes or no)

3) Name 3 people whose endorsements would make a difference to you? (list them—no explanations needed)

4) Name a senator or two (that’s not Jim Demint) who you would like to see this nominee be in the mold of. (list them—no explanation needed)

5) If there was only one challenger to Lindsey Graham, would you support him/her fully…even if you may not agree with him/her 100%?

If you are a South Carolina voter, please add that to the comment. I hope many of you will answer this inquiry. Thank you for taking time away from your busy schedule to do this.

Spoa Steph

that RINO graham can expect the ”dick lugar” treatment from us.

and i support tim scott or trey gowdy as the candidate to run in the primary against him.

and any state that is wise enough to elect jim demint will definately vote him out in the primary.

  • mikeymike143

i said him and just wanted to be clear that i was taking about that RINO graham

that you do not know what you are talking about. You are a Florida Tea Party member and you have no sway here in South Carolina.

Would I like to see him gone, yes if the person we replace him would be better and more consistently conservative.

But when you state he will be the number on TP target, I have to wonder if you really have a finger on the pulse of politics outside of Florida.

Many of the upstate TP groups endorse Graham. Why, do not know. But once you start to head into the low country, his popularity is high and he has the support and endorsement of nearly every TP in the low Country. No primary candidate has even come close to unseating him, I expect it to be no different this time.

When you add in the fact that Sen DeMint will not endorse anyone in his races, you take away the Jim wants it, he gets it factor in the state.

I love what you post usually, but you comments lately on out of state races show you really need to stick to instate races that you are an expert in as you are really blowing smoke when it comes to these out of state races. Not too mention for all of his problems, there are many other much worse republicans out there that should be TP target number one, two, three, etc.

Like it or not, you will not see a major in state TP uprising against Graham and he will not be beaten any time soon. Let us go after the republicans that are true moderates and who are doing real damage to this country.Graham should not even be on the top 50 of that list.

Trey is fantastic! A primary between Trey and Lindsey would be worth paying for!

  • checkmate2012

so we can read more at a time. You’re hogging space- lol! Don’t be mad at me as I like your comments as you know :)

Agree with mikey above re Tim Scott or Trey Gowdy. I sent $$ to Tim Scott last election. Have been very impressed with Trey Gowdy on his numerous news show appearances. Also saw him on several A&E or ID shows on cable (not sure which) when he was a prosecutor. Tough, no-nonsense guy. Will be willing to donate $$ again to help rid ourselves of Lindsey.

Lindsay is a center-right Republican – he isn’t Ron Johnson or Mike Lee or Jim DeMint but he’s not Dick Lugar either. Kind of like Bob Corker from my state or Orin Hatch (note: both of those guys won big)..now Lamar Alexander on the hand is to Lugar’s left.

  • PowerToThePeople

Like I said, have no issue with voting him out as long as the person replacing him is a vast improvement. I just grow weary of the out of state folks who think they know SC politics and make such a big deal out of Graham when there are plenty of much worse, much more liberal, much more leftist republicans out there that they should be focused on.

I really get tired of the TP folks who think they speak and people jump. They are a great org and have done wonders in the political arena, but they are not all powerful and they do not run things. Especially in a state where many of the TP groups support Graham.

  • Cornholio

Lindsay scores lower (72%) than both Lugar (80%) and Lamar Alexander (78%) on the most recent Club for Growth Scorecard.

Of course, Lugar’s lifetime rating is an abysmal 65% and Alexandar’s is not far behind at 70%.

  • Cornholio

    1) Do you believe that South Carolina needs to replace Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) in 2014?

    Yes, absolutely.

    2) Would you support any candidate who is fiscally responsible (with at least an 80% rating from the Club for Growth (or a state affiliate)?

    Not necessarily, but probably.

    3) Name 3 people whose endorsements would make a difference to you? (list them

with the voters even though they are average Republicans in red states…as I told people I voted against Corker knowing full well I would be voting for him in the general. The reason I knew this is Poskevitch ran a retail campaign. It is impossible to win a statewide election in Tennessee with retail politics.

  • Melody Warbington (rwm52)

    Georgia can do better.

I’ve probably asked before, but is there anybody we can convince to challenge Lamar if he doesn’t retire? Marsha Blackburn maybe?

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

    Lt Col Rogers?

  • tnfriendofcoal101368

I’d have to question any scorecard that calls supporting Obama’s EPA train wreck at 78%.

    Heritage has them at:

    Corker – 75%
    Graham – 72%
    Lugar – 64%
    Alexander – 53%

and the tea party is a national movement. all candidates are fair game.

and i posted a year ago on this site that tea partiers would be uniting to defeat lugar and got told that it wasnt going to happen, that indiana republicans wouldnt vote against lugar. LOL.

you will see groups like freedom works and club for growth backing someone like tim scott or trey gowdy in the primary. just ask david dewhurst how effective that support can be. :)

and pttp, the state coordinator for the south carolina tea party coalition in south carolina(joe dugan, who also runs the myrtle beach tea party) has already said that graham ”stands out like a sore thumb in a conservative state like sc” and he is actively and publiclally searching for a primary candidate for south carolina tea partiers to unite behind to oppose him.

and lugar and dewhurst both supposedly had strong local voter support and nobody thought either one was in danger of losing early in the race. that is was just a bunch of ”tea party talk”. but both are now on the sidelines and lindsey graham will be there after 2014. as you will see in 2014.

any state that is conservative enough to elect demint will vote out graham when given a viable primary challenger. and the cruz and mourdock wins will get us a quality conservative who is willing to challenge him.

  • Freiheit (ZachV)

    1) Yes.
    2) Yes. I would prefer an endorsement from the Club for Growth.
    3) Ryan, Romney, Norquist
    4) Sens Johnson, Toomey
    5) No. That’s a bit of a loaded question. What if this candidate is worse than Graham?

  • PowerToThePeople

who I know personally, have no interest at this time in running for Senate.

Next, your guess on Lugar was a pretty safe one considering he has been a target for many elections now where Graham is not.

Third, It does not matter what you think or any other group thinks if the people of the state back the candidate. You seem to think that people here are dissatisfied with Graham and you are wrong. His support in the low country and many parts of the upstate is strong. He has the backing of many TP groups in this state.

Joe Dugan has no say outside of his group. No one answers to Dugan here and he has no power over any group within the TP. Not sure if he is blowing smoke up your ass, if you think you know something you do not know, or if you just pulled his name from a hat, but he does not run things. He can look for a candidate all he wants, does not matter. If the person that runs against Graham can not convince the 6 out of 10 50 and older group that he is better than Graham, he loses. If he can not get the 70 plus percent of the republican low country vote, he loses. If he can not break other Graham strongholds such as the third district, he loses.

You are really out of your league on this one and you are not stating reality or facts. And considering the many many horrendous RINOS out there and leftist republicans, your time is better spent working to get rid of them than trying to act as if you have any say in our politics. Or that you know a single thing about how things work here.

Not trying to drive a wedge between us, simply stating facts. Been in this state for most of my life with the only exceptions being my time living in Boyd Texas where we still own a ranch and my 8 years in Michigan. I am very aware of politics in SC, how things works here, and who is in danger of being unseated. Graham is not in any danger at this time and will win his next election. And while I have no issue with him being removed due to his constant wavering on conservative issues, I recognize the fact that he is much better than 80% of the failures we have in our party and I know that he is quite popular in many areas of the state enough so that you and other outsiders will not sway the election. It would not be the first time it was tried, it will not be the last.

PS, Hate to tell you, Graham is heads and shoulders better than Lugar and Dewhurst, and your comparison to their defeat does not compare. While they may have had a vocal group of supporters, there was just as big of a voice of dissent. That does not exist in SC against Graham and even the ones who would like to see him gone are not nearly as big as those who do not and seeing Graham gone is not that big of a deal to most here.

  • volunteerstate

    Yes, he needs to go
    Yes,
    Yes.
Sarah Palin, Rand Paul, Marsha Blackburn
For a Republican I do not think you can get much worse than Lindsey Graham, especially being from a Southern conservative state. Wait….now I remember. Lamar Alexander is there.
