MEMBER DIARY

Please stop and take a deep breath, Mr. Erickson

Today, Erick Erickson dedicated a whole post aimed at eviscerating my credibility. His temper tantrum aside, I must say that I am flattered. I am a weekend warrior writer who doesn’t hold views that mesh 100% with those of the people on this site, nothing more.

First, Mr. Erickson attacks my formatting. Seriously, dude? This isn’t my job. When I read things that catch my eye, I write something in Microsoft Word and post on your site. You are absolutely correct that I copy and paste. Perhaps the shortcoming is with your software, not my formatting skills. See the first few comments on your article.

Secondly, he attacks my choice of topics. Simply put, if I see something that interests me, I write about it. For your information, I have an immediate family member who works in the pharmaceutical industry – do I have your permission to care about those issues?

The Senate race in Indiana also interests me. I happen to think the people of Indiana would be losing much more than they would gain by ousting the senior Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for an unproven amateur who speaks in bumper sticker slogans. I’m sorry that I don’t enjoy watching the Republican Party implode right before one of the biggest elections in recent history.

Mr. Erickson, please don’t use the fact that one person on your site disagrees with your views as an excuse to badmouth the Lugar campaign. I don’t sit around and comment on every article because I have plenty of other things going on in my life. You are the one who made the decision to allow people to write about the topics of their choice by offering the Diary service. Maybe you should put a disclaimer on it?

I can see that diversity—hell, nuancing—of opinion is something that is not valued here, so I will leave you all alone to reinforce the group thought you call conservatism. Oh, and please excuse the formatting.

    Did you try that?

I misspelled one word in a post a few days ago. Bothered me all day. I don’t think I could live with myself if my posts looked like that. But that’s just me.

That you are not now receiving , nor never have received compensation or wage for your writting, from any campaign?

you’re a hit and run poster. Little to no evidence and no response to challenges to your attacks on Mourdock. Like the one here. Because there is no defense.

Apparently, it went right over your head that the only defense made on your behalf was the problems in formatting, not on the content of your hit and runs on Mourdock. As for credibility, it’s generally earned with thoughtful, well-researched, sourced diaries and a willingness to defend your positions when challenged.

Finally, you could stand to take a couple of pointers from T-bone or mbecker908 on how to effectively post an insult or put-down. Your little Goodbye Cruel redstate paragraph just sounds petty and immature.

You aren’t a shill for the Lugar campaign, yet you insert a plug for Lugar in the midst of defending your blogging life (half-life?) here?

“Dude”, you’re as transparent as can be here. Like DK trolls, you fool no one. Go sell establishment someplace else. We’re already learning to deal with Mitt Romney as our presidential candidate. I’ll be damned if we have to live with outdated Dick Lugar for another 6 years.

FYI, I live in Indiana. There was a time when Lugar represented our interests. Now, he votes for Obama’s SCOTUS nominees. His egg timer is up…and so is yours.

and you never had any credibility on this site so there is no need to worry about losing it because of what erick posted. as i recall, i posted to the moderator that i wished i could give that diary of yours ”two thumbs down”. oh, and did you notice that your anti murdock diary got ZERO likes. LOL. and 6 long time posters that disagreed with you.

i understand that you have a man crush on lugar but he is a liberal RINO and very unpopular on this site. you might want to try the daily kos or huff po, you will find a warmer reception there.

Please stop posting drivel like this. If you want to prove EE wrong, try the following:

1.) Write an outline of the primary things you want to communicate.

2.) Flesh out the thoughts into readable paragraphs.

3.) Format it so readers can follow it.

4.) Post the diary privately and check the readability.

5.) Correct/update as required. Maybe even have a friend/family member check it.

    6.) Make the diary public.

I suspect I have treated you with much more respect than you deserve. You certainly ignored everything EE posted. Prove him wrong by doing these simple steps. Otherwise, you are unwittingly (?) demonstrating disrespect for your audience and yourself.

Hopefully he’s doing well, wherever he is.

for the OP. If you have an argument, state it, but don’t run from any resulting criticism. Like the writer, I think we all have lives that are full besides Redstate.com. I’m sure not a single diary writer sits here 24/7 and comments all the time. But, check back in once in a while to see the comments and answer them.
If you really feel that strongly about the GOP and Lugar- and I understand your points- then don’t just hit and run. Perception means a lot and I was giving you benefit of the doubt, but you lost that benefit with this posting. Not that I will become a Mourdock supporter now, but its people like starz that reinforces the negativity towards Lugar.
