Sebelius to lead tort reform – Really??

Lost in the aftermath of Joe Wilson’s shout heard ’round the world during President Obama’s speech last week was the anointment of Kathleen Sebelius as the leader of the Administration’s tort reform campaign.

Now, I don’t believe malpractice reform is a silver bullet, but I’ve talked to enough doctors to know that defensive medicine may be contributing to unnecessary costs. So I’m proposing that we move forward on a range of ideas about how to put patient safety first and let doctors focus on practicing medicine. I know that the Bush administration considered authorizing demonstration projects in individual states to test these ideas. I think it’s a good idea, and I’m directing my Secretary of Health and Human Services to move forward on this initiative today.

For those of you who remember, before Kathleen Sebelius bailed on Kansas, she had accepted literally millions of dollars in campaign contributions from trial lawyers. That much is commonly known – here’s the part that most people forget.

From 1977 – 1986, Kathleen Sebelius served as the Executive Director and Chief Lobbyist of the Kansas Trial Lawyers’ Association.

Great – Obama taps a former industry lobbyist to lead tort reform. Knowing Governor Sebelius’ position on these issues pretty well – he would’ve been hard pressed to pick someone more opposed to tort reform than Kathy.

Thanks for throwing us a bone, Mr. President – at least we know how serious you are about finding bi-partisan solutions.

Leftist Hypocrisy at Its Finest

Yesterday, George Tiller, one of the most controversial figures in American society over the past two decades, was brutally gunned down during church services. We would like to start this off by extending our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Tiller – though we do not agree with his line of employment, we do not feel that anyone deserves that sort of exit from Earth. Moreover, we feel terribly for his wife who was subjected to a visual experience of this horrible scene. Hopefully, they’ll be able to move past this tragedy.

That said, the response from media outlets and liberal interest groups over the past 24 hours has been nothing short of pathetic. We can all sit back and have a legitimate debate over the practice of abortion. There is a reason, however, that there were only three abortion providers in the United States that were willing to do late, late term abortion – because, in many instances, it is literally killing a baby that could be plucked from his mother’s womb and live just fine. It is a living, breathing human. Unless the mother’s life is in terrible peril, I just don’t see how anyone can defend the practice. The argument that this line of work is so dangerous simply doesn’t hold water – how about the millions of soldiers that literally risk their lives every day; the hundreds of thousands of police officers and fire-fighters that stare down death on a daily basis. These professions are infinitely more dangerous than that of abortion providers.

Yet, many Kansas Democrats (including those that were elected by George Tiller’s deep-pockets) rose to his defense yesterday, labeling him a ‘courageous hero’ and a ‘brave defender of women.’

More disturbingly, they jumped on the ‘right-wing terror’ bandwagon, immediately labeling all conservatives as terrorists. Well, folks, we’ve got a message for you – it wasn’t terrorism; It was cold-blooded murder, plain and simple.

This morning, however, their descriptions reached the height of hypocrisy. In Little Rock, AR, two army recruiters were gunned down while at work by a gunman with a car-full of potential explosives. While it’s possible that this was a random act of violence, that’s just about as likely as the possibility that Stephen Roeder had never heard of abortion.

So, Democrats all over the country posted on their blogs, gathered in candle-light vigils and participated in angry rants against ‘right-wing terrorists’ after an isolated gunman murdered a man who has made millions of dollars aborting viable babies, yet when an obvious anti-Government terrorist gunned down two brave military recruiters who have sacrificed their lives to ensure that our forces have the proper number of soldiers, mum’s the word.

We will never again be able to take these folks seriously (not that very many were taken seriously before) until they start railing against the ‘left wing, anti-military terrorists’ that oppose war and decided to ‘take justice into their own hands’ with the brutal murder of at least one brave soldier.

Coal-Fire Power Plant FINALLY Passes in Kansas

We’ll preface this by saying: sorry to the rest of America, Kathleen Sebelius is now your problem. She’s going to aggressively pursue universal health care, going to be a staunch advocate for abortion rights and will undoubtedly push for more of your tax dollars to fund the previous proposals.

That said, we do have a bit of silver lining.

For more than a year, Kathleen Sebelius fought a proposal that would’ve built the two cleanest coal plants in the State of Kansas, complete with the most environmentally friendly set of emissions and controls that we can possibly produce. Oh..and did we mention that it would create more than 300 jobs in one of Kansas’ poorest and most unemployed counties?

Sebelius vetoed the bill over and over – every time it came to her desk with more concessions on environmental regulations from the GOP legislature, yet still she opposed. It was nothing more than an opportunity for her to gain popularity among the Democrat base so she might be able to land some cushy job in DC – sound familiar?

Now, less than one week after she vacated Kansas for that cushy D.C. job she’s coveted, her successor found a way to strike compromise.

The plant won’t be quite as big as we’d like, but hey, it’s going to create energy – in an environmentally friendly manner – and put hundreds of Kansans back to work. We won’t complain.

Again, we are incredibly scared for the damage our former Guv will do to our Nation’s health system, but the small silver lining is that Kansas can finally reverse the damage she did to our State over the last 7 years. If nothing else, this plant’s passing is a HUGE black eye to the small legacy she may have had.

Charlie Rangel: Obama’s Tax-Evasion Watchdog?

When – oh when – will the American people still supporting the Obama-agenda stop drinking the kool-aid, wake up and smell the manure?

When talking about the companies and individuals that don’t ‘pay their fair share’ of the tax burden (that Obama’s big Government policies continue to increase), Obama stated the following:

‘These problems have been highlighted by Chairman Charlie Rangel..”

Wait..WHAT? Charlie Rangel is your authority on fighting tax-evasion? Seriously. Do you even care that the guy purposely avoided paying thousands of dollars in taxes on his luxury home in the Hamptons? Or does that no longer matter now that he’s supporting your agenda.

This sort of hypocrisy just has to stop. The fact that President Obama can stand in front of millions of Americans and claim that his tax policy, drafted by King tax-cheat Charlie Rangel and fellow tax-cheat Timothy Geithner, will clean up the tax code is beyond laughable – it’s scary.

Kansas Democrat Senator Compares ‘Right Wing Activists’ to Hitler.

Last month, Americans all over the country joined together – in non-partisan fashion – to protest against the sky-rocketing Federal deficit and the irresponsible and wasteful misuse of our tax dollars.

State Senator Chris Steineger, D-Kansas City, decided to join in on the fun. Steineger, a relatively centrist Democrat, is the only even slightly-credible candidate the Democrats may be able to run in next year’s Gubernatorial race, assuming Dennis Moore and Mark Parkinson make good on their pledges to stay out.

Steineger’s attendance at the rally ruffled all sorts of feathers with his Democratic allies – how dare an elected member of their Party rise in opposition to the Obama Administration’s wasteful spending?! Steineger felt it necessary to respond to some of these criticisms on a fellow Kansas political blog, the Kansas Jackass. In doing so, Steineger made himself look like Kansas’ biggest ‘Jackass’ with an incredibly offensive and mis-calculated political blunder.

Steineger talked about the need to reach out to the masses and peel off Independent/Republican voters, blah blah blah. All fine and good so far. Then, Senator Steineger compared the ‘hard core right-wing activists’ to the leaders of Nazi Germany. I’m not kidding. One of Steineger’s justifications for attending the event is listed below.

4) During WWII, Eisenhower, Churchill and the other Allies knew that we couldn’t beat Hitler and the Nazis by staying at home. They knew that the only way to win was to invade the Nazis’ turf and take it from them and that’s exactly what happened. Indeed, on the campaign from Normandy to Berlin, the Allies also learned that thousands of German troops no longer believed in Hitler’s message, were willing to surrender, and find a better system to live by. Those who changed their minds built the modern Germany which provides universal health insurance at a sustainable price, and will soon be the first nation to close all coal-fired power plants and make the upgrade to clean, renewable sources of electricity.

If Chris Steineger believes that any of the attendees at the Tea Parties last month – or supporters of coal-fired power plants, for that matter – even resemble Hitler and his fellow Nazi leaders, perhaps he should re-consider a career in public service.

www.StayRedKansas.Com would like to call on Senator Steineger to recant his misguided words. If he wants to walk back to the leaders of his Party with his tail between his legs, that’s his problem. When he does so, we would appreciate him refraining from slanderous and offensive partisan cheap shots.
