We won the battle but not the war

We had a good day on Tuesday and many Conservatives got elected into office.   But make no mistake the war is not won.

The huge gains by the Republicans in the House and the gains in the Senate do not mean that our work is over.   This is just the beginning.  This is a long war that we need to win and we can not let up.

As the Tea Partiers and Conservatives are basking in the election wins, there are still those that want to take away our Liberties and Freedoms in the name of the “Good of the Country”.  We must not let that happen.

We need to keep the fire under the Republicans to follow the Constitution and the Enumerated Powers that constrain the Federal Government.  It is not time to let up or relax our mission.   We must keep the Republicans in line and take back the Senate and Presidency in 2012.

I grew up in southeast Missouri near the Black River. I now live in Wentzville, Perhaps you know where that is.

I used to go by it all the time to go to the Lake of the Ozarks. And my sister in law’s family is from there.

I live in the Metro East in Belleville

if you live in a State with a Democrat coming up in 2012 and want what the Rs passed in the House to pass the Senate, well you like me are going to be calling and screaming and going to Townhall in the summer…heh! Its going to be a blast, isn’t it Senator Webb :)

Yes the townhalls will be fun, that is if the Dems are even willing to do them. They pretty much skipped them all the past few years.

What the tea party started in April ’09 with those tax day rallies across the country must continue. What transpired in the townhall’s of August ’09 must continue. What Cold Warrior and others started by encouraging people to get involved in their local party to help ensure conservatives get elected must continue. Conservative grassroots involvement must continue or we’ll be back in the same boat quicker than a blink. Too many times conservatives have come together with like thinking independants to stop the liberal tide and then took their eye off the ball. Then when they decicded it was time to start watching the game again the ball was much farther down the field than they guessed, with even several unanswered points already on the board.

As Moe points out here it’s not going to be easy, but it’s really going to get tougher if we let up. The lame duck session is looming, and that has to be watched like a hawk. Sneaky things like the 401K takeover might be brought up. If passed, that’s something else we’ll have to make sure our recently elected legislators fight to repeal.

Yeah, Obama has his veto pen at the ready, but but as Rush said then repeal bills just have to be sent right back to him. The new Congress can’t give up, or worse, compromise. We saw what compromise got us, not again. I hope the new Congress realizes that. If not, we’ll just have to remind them with the phone, the email, and if necessary, a stronger conservative primary candidate in the next election.

There will be many battles to come, some we know are looming, others we may not have thought of yet, but I think this past election has proven the this is a conservative leaning country that will reject liberalism, especially over-reaching liberalism every time it’s tried. We need the Congress, especially the members who claim to be on our side, to remember that. We’ve already seen most of today’s Democrats aren’t going to listen to us, even those of us who are in their own districts. Representatives of the people are what they are, not DC. Our part of the fight is making sure they never forget that, making sure they remember why they got elected.

I feel now much like when Ronald Reagan was elected, some hope at last.
It seems the emperors’ clothes are being revealed for what they are. Yet many on the coasts still believe they are dressed in regal robes.
All we can do is keep working.
