Diebold Strikes Again

Well, this is just appalling:

Black voters are heavily represented in the 94th Election District in Harlem's 70th Assembly District. Yet according to the unofficial results from the New York Democratic primary last week, not a single vote in the district was cast for Senator Barack Obama.

That anomaly was not unique. In fact, a review by The New York Times of the unofficial results reported on primary night found about 80 election districts among the city's 6,106 where Mr. Obama supposedly did not receive even one vote, including cases where he ran a respectable race in a nearby district.

City election officials this week said that their formal review of the results, which will not be completed for weeks, had confirmed some major discrepancies between the vote totals reported publicly -- and unofficially -- on primary night and the actual tally on hundreds of voting machines across the city.

In the Harlem district, for instance, where the primary night returns suggested a 141 to 0 sweep by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the vote now stands at 261 to 136. In an even more heavily black district in Brooklyn -- where the vote on primary night was recorded as 118 to 0 for Mrs. Clinton -- she now barely leads, 118 to 116.

Clearly, the Clinton camp partnered with Diebold to engage in the kind of vote-suppressing we were always told to expect if George W. Bush became President of the United States. Doubtless, the consequences for our democratic republic will be deleterious indeed.

Its obvious that African American Democratic voters of NYC just have very great affection for Bill and Hillary.

a ridiculous post -- and by Lord_Vegas

a ridiculous post -- and totally unfair to Hillary Clinton. The former President has an office up there in Harlem and so, quite probably, he has garnered tremendous support for his wife among the many constituents he has befriended there.

The male black population would be very upset with him. BTW do you really think he has that kind of time available ?

Money quote by Vladimir

"Mr. Koenig said he seriously doubted that anything underhanded was at work because local politicians care more about elections that matter specifically to them.

They steal votes for elections like Assembly District leader, where people have a personal stake,” he said."

So, sure they steal votes, but only in unimportant elections.

And every other primary and caucus that this campaign was involved in. It's the only way to be sure.

No Vote Left Behind by Stencew

No wonder Hillary wants to end NCLB (No Child Left Behind)....if all our ever kids learn how to read and count, we would be able to enact NVLB....No Vote Left Behind !!

Perception? ... by rbdwiggins

I don't believe the discrepancy was due to faulty voting machines.

It appears there was an effort by some of New York's election officials to give the perception of a landslide victory for Sen. Clinton in order to quell some of Sen. Obama's momentum.

I thought that Obama would be the one to have Chicago-style vote counting.

Seriously, the electronic voting machines appear to be just as easily manipulable as the mechanical ones they replaced. Perhaps between now and November, these machines' master program code will be examined. Alternately, if these machines are connected to the 'net, perhaps that program was hacked.

to eliminate the obvious fraud of Florida 2000 and protect the will of the people? And for the past few years who has been moaning about Diebold and the nefarious connections to the corrupt Bush/Cheney cabal?

Lunacy can be funny at times but what will they groan about now?

are trying to rig the election for John McCain by helping Hillary defeat Obama -- thereby achieving a weaker Dem opponent in the November election.

Back in 2000, I remarked that "whatever the Democrats accuse Republicans of doing, they are actually doing themselves." It's a time-old ploy: do something bad, accuse your opponents of it, and you can get your activities completed while everybody else is chasing around finding proof of the other guy's non-existent guilt.

A day after the 2008 New Mexico caucuses, the vote was split by as little as 153 votes between Hillary and Obama ... yet, weeks later, we find that Hillary "won" by a margin of over 1,700 votes (1.1%). Kinda like 2000, when 500 Al Gore votes showed up in Maricopa County the day after the election with no change (votes) in down-ballot races.

I don't know whose machines were used in Harlem, but the 1960 race in Chicago (JFK won) was interesting ... the voting machines were made by Bally Manufacturing (yes, the slot-machine guys). And 6,000 marked ballots showed up in a garage, months after the election was over.

Depend on it ... Hillary supporters will do anything to steal the next few elections.

New York, NY -- It was a test of a future technology. Government researchers have developed algorithms that are nearly perfect at predicting not only how people have voted (afterwards), but also at how people would vote (beforehand). Government and industry tests, like those conducted in several Harlem districts, have confirmed the accuracy of these algorithms, leading the way to a future where the druggery of actually voting will be a thing of the past. While some descrepancies have been noted in actual tallied vote counts as compared to the predicted result, researchers found this to be due to misinformation given to voters during the campaign process -- a phenomenon called "miscast votes". "Elimination of campaigning by candidates for office will clear up virtually all miscasting of ballots." said Notty Chance, lead researcher for the new system, called VAPOR, for Vote Alignment by Prediction Of Results. "The savings of campaign costs almost completely covers the cost of the system for a major election." she added. What's next after autonomous voting? Researchers are said to be working on a self-taxing version of the US dollar. At the end of each month, the government issued e-dollars automatically lose a certain amount of their value, much like current day gift cards. The lost value is automatically transferred to the Treasury, providing a continuous and uninterrupted funding of government programs. A future without voting or taxes? It may be just around the corner.

Democratic machine led by "Boss" Charles Buckley, I will state the obvious - there was no tampering with the machines.

This was simple old-fashioned misreporting of votes accomplished by corrupt election officials with the acquiescence of the poll watchers. No need to rig the machines, just enter the wrong vote totals.

...to run into these disenfranchised Obama Voters. Especially when they are on a cell phone commiserating with someone else far away on how to turn the gas cap on their vehicle enough in order to have it click closed.
If these people get their way, it's good luck America, you will certainly need it.
