In light of this Top Ten List youtube clip that Pejman sent around (LOVE number five ... wait, SIX .. awkward!), and my own recent Top 5 List Of Dumb Things I've Done, I'd like to start a ...

TOP TEN (OR FIVE) LISTS OPEN THREAD

Number 10: Obama attends Wright's church for twenty years!

Number 9: Wright comes to Hawaii for a visit. Obama's Grandma, upon meeting the Wright Reverend, surrenders her purse.

Number 8: Wright introduces Farrakhan to Obama. That's it. That's the joke.

Number 7: Obama's Grandma comes to Chicago and visits the church to apologize for Pearl Harbor, but Obama doesn't show. He's not there on those days.

Number 6: On Thanksgiving Obama asks the Wright Reverend to pass some turkey. The Reverend inquires white or dark meat? Obama says a little of each.

You can't believe I don't shut up, but there's more ...

Number 5: Sitting together during the verdict of the OJ Trial
(think Brian Griffin and his roommate ... [hint])

Number 4: Obama introduces Wright to Lieberman. That's the joke. Come on now.

Number 3: Obama and the Wright Reverend get into Obama's car, and when he turns the key, the radio is blasting Manilow.

Number 2: Obama's Grandma starts AIDS to kill black people. Embarrassing!

Number 1: Obama attends Wright's church for twenty years! Awkwaarrrdddd!

Give me your lists. OPEN THREAD.

Admit it, you really did mean #5.

Although, for my money #7 was hotter.

You mean seven of nine?

Where's your top ten (or five) list? Get crackin!

Hey by simpson316

My wit comes in one shot. Let me see what I can do for you. I'll post when I can.

And no, I was talking about the woman who was #7 on the Letterman Top Ten thank you very much. [No disrespect to the former first lady of Illinois}

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

In no particular order*

1. Senate Resolution 268 declaring July 12, 2007 "National Summer Learning Day". He managed to get this controversial bill passed by unanimous consent.

2. Senate Bill 453 to prohibit deceptive practices in federal elections. Of course we should ignore his current "Pay no attention to my America hating spiritual advisor" schtick.

3. Senate Bill 737 to amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 in order to measure, compare, and improve the quality of voter access to polls and voter services in the administration of Federal elections in the States. Right? Voter access. Remember, he comes from Chicago. So that includes dead people.

4. Senate Bill 823 to amend the Public Health Service Act with respect to facilitating the development of microbicides for preventing transmission of HIV/AIDS and other diseases, and for other purposes. See this one in the context of Wright's statements...yeah, it is funny. There is no way that Obama didn't hear that comment and think that he had a chance to make amends.

5. Senate Bill 1430 to authorize State and local governments to direct divestiture from, and prevent investment in, companies with investments of $20,000,000 or more in Iran's energy sector, and for other purposes. Right, because $19,999,999.99 is absolutely acceptable.

6. Senate Bill 2224 to require a licensee to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the State and county in which a facility is located, whenever there is an unplanned release of radioactive substances. Right? Because no one would notice the three eyed fish.

7. Senate Bill 2227 to provide grants to States to ensure that all students in the middle grades are taught an academically rigorous curriculum with effective supports so that students complete the middle grades prepared for success in high school and postsecondary endeavors, to improve State and district policies and programs relating to the academic achievement of students in the middle grades, to develop and implement effective middle school models for struggling students, and for other purposes. Yes, we should most definitely fight run on sentences.

Ironically, Number 1 is the only bill that I have found that both bears Obama's name as the primary sponsor and has been passed. I guess his message of "Change" is that he has a record of not getting things done?

*Okay, so it is in the order that I found it on THOMAS, the online record of the House and Senate.

2006 World Series: The Cardinals cream the Tigers making it the tenth World Series Championship in team history.

Sometimes referred to, notably by CNN, as the best ever played. Braves lost, but you can blame it on Hrbek.

I was trying to one up gc's 1968 World Series brag about the Tigers beating the Cards.

I could care less about the Braves or Twins [except when the Cards are beating them...eh, okay...not exactly a good record there.]

And I will blame '91 on Hrbek.

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

I listened to the first ATLANTA Braves game on WSB, scratch, staticy nightime AM radio in, what was it, '64 and endured all those losing games along with three or four thousand other fans at the old stadium in the sixties and early seventies. And then, here I was in another world, Alaska, and the BRAVES WERE WINNING! Watched practically every game that year on WTBS, got a replica jersey with my name on it, and then that ball went out.

I agree, Achance by absentee

I was a teenager. It was my first world series party. I'd been a lifelong fan, and here I was, with my friends, in my gear, chowing down and watching the game.

When Kent Hrbeck pulled Gant up into the air and threw him off the base, and the ump essentially nodded and said, yes, this is how we play baseball ... it was all over from there.

1985 I-70 Series by Andysforsmalgovernment

Of course, there's never been a KC team worth diddly since so the Cards still get the nod with more series wins. (see, someone in KC can let it go and be nice to the other half of the state.)

10 (tie) - Quincy Carter throws 5 INTs; Holtz's 2000 Team beats UGA. Carter's Heisman hopes smashed, UGA drops out of top 10, Cocks have fine season. Good times...

10 (tie) - We finally win a bowl in the 1995 Carquest Bowl; Brad Scott beats West Virginia, and is possibly awesome for the first/last time.

9 - My first live South Carolina win over Clemson

8 - Wide Left; Jad Dean misses kick in 2006 Carolina-Clemson game

6 - BJ McKie and Melvin Watson lead 1997 Gamecocks to SEC Basketball Championship (Regular Season)

5 - 2001 Outback Bowl; Ryan Brewer pwns his home state Buckeyes

4 - The Gamecocks pwn the 3rd quarter enroute to a 2001 Gamecock victory over Clemson. It was one of the instances where I watched TV that fall, b/c I was working out of the bare bones base we'd set up at Thumrait AB, Oman for OEF.

3 - 1994: Joe Morrison/Black Magic

2 - George Rogers wins the Heisman; One of my first specific memories is going to the airport to welcome Big George back from NYC (The other early memory is the loss to Furman... welcome to the life of a Gamecock fan, kid)

1 - South Carolina throws up 22 runs enroute to winning two games in one day vs Clemson to make the 2002 College World Series final vs Texas.

Honorable Mention: Sidney Rice's wheel-around catch vs the Gators, Citadel bulldogs beat the Gamecocks in 1990 (One of the biggest victories ever for my alma mater... I hate it when the two teams play), Todd Ellis to Shannon Sharpe.

ALright, here goes my Top Ten Sports memories.

10) Darryl Grant intercepts a scrren pass and goes the yard vs the hated Dallas Cowboys in the '82 NFC Championship. No Dallas Cowboys fans had anything to say about strike-year asterixes prior to the outcome of that one.

9) The NASCAR Thrilla In Manilla. Cale Yarburough gets blocked just laps from victory. He gets in a wreck and becomes a DQ. He gets out of his car and finds Bobby Allison, who's blocking move caused the wreck. Darryl Waltrip wins and celebrates like he just the Pick Six! I wish I could remember the race and the year.

8) Chaminade Upsets Ralph Sampson and the #1 ranked UVA Cavaliers!!!! They called that team the Wahoos. They probably couldn't spell Cavalier.

7) Larry Bird steals the inbounds pass and beats the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals game 5. I honestly forget the year, but Isaah Thomas calling Larry Bird the devil was priceless.

6) Joe Thiesmann meet Lawrence Taylor, Joe Theismann meet Worker's Comp. 'Nuff said.

5) The drunk guy I just hated at a long ago Superbowl Party that yelled out "Noonan" at Scott Norwood. Just before the infamous kick.

4) Watching John Smoltz, then of the Triple-A Richmond Braves, throw a one-hit, one-bater from perfect game at The Diamond.

3) Bucky "Effing" Dent. Has a stadium or ballpark ever shut up faster.

2) 1 Superbowl Quarter. QB Doug WIlliams. 35 points. Game over.

1) 1 punch. Buster Douglas. The ref almost too stuned to count to 10. Fight over.

"I believe we must adjourn this meeting to some other place." - The last recorded words of Adam Smith.

I'm pretty sure, know it was the Daytona 500. It was the first NASCAR race televised flag to flag and most of the eastern US was shut down by a snowstorm, so there was a huge audience. That race and that audience made the modern, televised NASCAR.
