About that Wiseguy Clip MSNBC Has Been Showing

I'm afraid that the mainstream media has fallen victim to our clever plot to get people to watch some of my early work. This is the only way it could have happened.

Actually, my only lasting memory of it is that I was grossly underpaid.

You may want to think about making this blogging thing a permanent pasttime for you. No matter what you run or don't run for. :)

Hey, at least you didn't by AndrewHyman

Hey, at least you didn't slap Angie Dickinson, like Reagan did. :-)

Great to hear from you. You have my support no matter what MSNBC plays!

You know this is absolutly amazing to me, that a man thinking about running for the highest office would take a few minutes to drop a quick hit post.

Sir, I don't even know how to say this, but thanks for talking with us. I mean this is so cool.

Listen, promise if you run, you'll still take a few minutes to drop a quick post or two.

I know if you run, you'll win and then be busy running the free world, so posting will have to take a back seat:) But if you get in the race, keep in touch while you're on the move.

You sound excited :) by Connie Brimmer

Nice feeling, isn't it? Especially considering what we all felt like the morning after "06. If the WH Spokesman can freep, the (I'm hoping) Republican nominee for POTUS can "red state."

I will take advantage of what may be the one and only time to call Fred "Fred," instead of "Mr. President." Fred, we need you. And please tell Jack McCoy that the Consitution is not a living, breathing document. ;)

...but wouldn't you be considered part of the "mainstream media", what with your full-time NBC acting gigs and all that?

Yes, I'm a Democrat. No, I don't hate Republicans.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, re-read your post a couple-dozen times until you figure it out. ;)

5 heh by Darin H

took me about 3 reads to get it and your post (but then I'm easily confused).

Just don't see an admission in there. Unless you mean his tag line.

I infer from his post - Journalist = Actor; News = Fiction (at least on MSNBC).

I was thinking... by The Gadfly

Democrat = Hate Republicans, unless explicitly stated otherwise...

Maybe it's a twofer. :)

That's what I saw... by youngling

But after the explanation I see actor = journalist and news = fiction admission in there too...it's got to be a twofer

In an era of contrived crapola from most of our politicians, nice to see a leader who can crack a real joke. Good luck and thanks Senator.

I can relate by theBlur

My fifteen minutes of "fame" came as an extra in a major film. People ask me how it was, and finally get around to how much I was paid (probably expecting it to be a lot). Well, when I tell them it was all of $65.19, it takes some of the luster off of my brief acting career (at least, in their eyes).

Hey, you never know, maybe some of the residuals will now kick in ;-)

But, a big second to Moe - consider a blogging career whichever path you choose to take (but, please run!).

There's lots more of this stuff awaiting you if you run. ;)

I really hope it doesn't dissuade you, though. You're the first politician that I've considered volunteering for and, since I'm in MA, I hope to be in the thick of things helping out in NH for ya.

PS Run.

I happen to be a guy who doesn’t get up every morning hating my country. Roger Ailes

If you were really sooooooo clever, you would have gotten the clip onto a cable channel that actually has viewers...

Thanks, I'll be here all week, please remember to tip your waitresses!

(PS.. RUN!!!!!)

More people will know about this from RedState than from MSNBC.

Maybe this will increase the residuals...heh. Go Fred!

I dare say the old TV-drama clip is more embarrassing to the writers. Are there any Southern white racist stereotypes they forgot to throw into your character?

On a positive note by Jack Savage

At least you were able to straighten out those rogue NASCAR drivers in "Days of Thunder". That pretty much gives you our votes in the South.

IMHO, it's a good way to deliver your message, address your detractors or to set the record straight without the filter or the bias of the PartisanPress.™

will be shown to us over and over BECAUSE WE WILL WATCH.

MSNBC has got some hot property all of a sudden. Even a boring TV drama, which you've happily forgotten, will get a million more middleaged men glued in rapt attention as the object of our devotion appears here and there between ads for incontinence products and The Scooter Store.

The drive-by media (which we all know is little more than the propaganda wing of the DNC) is afraid of Fred Thompson. You're doing awefully well in this race for a guy who hasn't announced yet. They're looking for "dirt" on you already and this is the best they can do?! Hilarious!

Here on Redstate, the Romney and Giuliani fans are afraid too. They keep asking about your positions on issues as if you haven't been talking about those things already.

Please, RUN FRED, RUN!

You could have done a lot worse in that era.

Hunt for Red October by Michael Wilt

I wish they'd put up some clips from that instead.

Anyway, great response. MSNBC is a shrill, failing enterprise that General Electric should know better than to hold on to (that is, its partner company of NBC). As a shareholder, I'm embarrassed by MSNBC lately. But most of the mainstream media is pretty awful, too.

Just keep doing what you're doing, Senator.

I'd like to request that the next work which MSNBC uses as an "indictment of Fred Thompson's character" be Die Hard II - maybe they can use that to show that he doesn't take their global warming hypotheses seriously (seeing how it's set in a blizzard and all...). Besides, I enjoyed that movie and I'd like to see it again.

That having been said, I too would like to thank Sen. Thompson for posting here, and add my two cents worth from the Republicans of the Great State of Florida: Run, Fred, RUN!!!!

Until March 12th 2008? I'll be out of uniform then and can give it my full attention. I'll be in whatever state I am needed, whatever job I am needed for. The politician who can respond like this to this kind of pathetic smear attempt has my full support.

How many of you knew MSNBC was showing the clip before you saw this blog entry?

Why? by Raven

What matters is how he responded to the attack.

I think he was trying a backhand swipe at PMSNBC - as in, even among the newshounds that inhabit these environs, no one watches the network of Spitball and Uberdork.

Not me.

I've been watching you. by itrytobenice

That song just hit my head. But seriously, was just watching you on YouTube addressing the Lincoln Club. I was marvelously inspired. You were fantastic.
