The good senator from Arizona stands up for a Culture of Life

Many social conservatives (including yours truly) have, at times, questioned Senator McCain's commitment to the pro-life cause. Well, last night I was watching Chris Matthews's Hardball College Tour interview with the good senator, and I must say that I was extremely impressed with his performance. His finest moment by far, in my humble opinion, was the strong stand he took for a Culture of Life in this country:

Well done, Senator McCain. I am proud to support you.

It was almost an applause line despite Matthews massive slant in asking the question.
Note: has Matthews asked Obama or Clinton if they'd be willing to choose a pro-life VP?

Yah, that would be a great question. Why doesn't he ask Obama "Why wouldn't you consider a pro-life Democrat like Bob Casey for your Vice President?"

He carried himself well. It was a good interview, and perhaps a tad audacious given the immediate audience. Then again, McCain's never shied from younger voters. He seems pretty comfortable in his own skin around 'em in a way some of his predecessors didn't.
McCain is looking like a statesman while Hillary and Obama look like anything but a statesman. You also have to admire the guy's guts. He stood in front of a bunch of farmers in Iowa and said that farm subsidies are foolish as well. I have to admit that he has impressed me lately, and he will be a fine candidate this fall.

I'm proud of the kids in the audience who applauded his pro-life stance, too.
