The GOP YouTube Debate
By Erick Posted in 2008 — Comments (249) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »
The drivel that is the "show me you care" debate of netizen asked generally lame questions over YouTube will begin shortly.*
We will again all wonder why Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo remain in the race. We may soon be asking that about others.
In any event, here's the thread. I'll keep it up top during the debate.
*The views expressed are my own, but I'm right. I expect lots of people like the sniveling long haired hippy dude from 1992 who wanted Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush to show him they cared because they were like the nation's dad. Except this time it'll be in grainy YouTube format instead of in person.

Hunter and Tancredo should not be there. We are a month away from the primaries now, its time to cut the fat.
...ask. The Youtube Dem debate consisted of a lot of softballs.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
Good grief, who the hell let the first question get through? The freaking thing is long. Ask your &(^&*&((#!!! QUESTION.
Oh lord, save us from this idiocy.
At least, if you share my view that politics are dumbed down enough as it is without having talking snowmen and that guy with a guitar become regular parts of election year fare.

They looked around for illegals who had committed crimes to round them up? Um . . . wasn't their first act into the city a crime?
Fight On!
I have the feeling that the most important things I missed in this debate were the opportunity to meet Bob Hahn and the chance to wear some really cool shorts in Tampa, where right now it's 75 degrees, and I would have loved it, but there would have been precisely zero relation to politics.
In my little town in Massachusetts, it's 32 degrees with no wind, and even the implication of a suggestion of a gust brings you into the frozen zone.
I'm watching Walker, Texas Ranger on the Huckabee Channel right now, with YouBoob PIP.
I don't think I can make it through this think without dropping the f-bomb on this site.

Well, I am enjoying the Mitt v. Rudy fight. This is hilarious.
Hey, if these guys are this pissed, it could be a good night.
If we did that, one or the other of Mitt or Rudy would be dead within the hour.

. And here comes Romney. I wonder if they're going to come to blows tonight..
....I'll think I'll flip over and watch the Mizzou v. Arkansas game on Fox Sports.

Thompson plays to his strength and uses a firm "yes" out of the box.
The people Fred's talking about are probably a lot better citizen than the dude asking the question he's answering...
Wow. The Kerik comment was awesome.
Also, in the head-on camera angle, Fred looks extremely pasty.

I am not saying his policy is best, but he got to look good by that exchange.

But Thompson with his jaggedly baggy eyes makes Giuliani look like a teenager by comparison. Thompson is *not* the candidate for young people in this country. He looks and sounds like someone just broke him out of a sedimentary rock.
And McCain plays "Dad" tonight instead of McCain.
Dude who asked the question on amnesty looks a bit freaky.
Tancredo, though has a great sense of humor.
But what the heck are they doing getting the dude to participate.
Molon Labe!
I like Hunter, but geez he has the momentum of a snail going backwards.
Molon Labe!
He's the same guy I met in New Hampshire. Composed, on the ball, and factual.
that Duncan Hunter built a fence with his own bare hands?
He wanted you to know in case this was the first debate you've watched.

He can do better than referencing health care. Rudy's response, on the other hand, is top notch.
It just came out clumsy from Rudy

...loved his answer on spending and he got in a good dig at the SCHIP program.
Plus, I admit I liked Ron Paul's answer on the previous question. He has a few kooky ideas, but I admit, I kinda like him (don't ridicule please).

Doctors Without Borders. I think it would be good for him and them.
Sorry for the confusion.
I'm pleasantly surprised by some of these questions.
the quality of the exchanges thus far. Much less vanilla than the other debates.

And CNN follows him up with Ron Paul, so who will ever remember it?
Sheesh...is it just me, or does Thompson look out of his league here?

Just me? Is that why he's in the low single digits in IA now?
Seriously though...Huckabee looks good, McCain looks good. Hard to see anyone else breaking through, especially with Romney and Giuliani nuking each other early and often.

Not that anybody's going to clinch the nomination with a win there.
I should also add, Thompson's "campaign video" was great.

You know, all this time I thought Presidential candidates were more erudite than other people. Duncan Hunter just gave the most banal answer -- and probably true -- about raising taxes than I've ever heard.
I want to be a politician so I can make important sounding statements that are that easy to make.
Mitt supports raising the price of my beer with his stinkin' ethanol support.
...I don't like it either, but these guys are trying to win Iowa unfortunately.

Duncan Hunter really is a great guy, but the protectionist stuff sucks.
Oh, and Tancredo's sucks.
Holy ****, Fred's video was sneaky awesome.
What the heck is up with the Aussie telling kids not to drink on behalf of Coors? Yeah, I believe him.

Super Rudy. I fight crime!!! Even if it means trampling gun rights. Geesh Rudy, no one cares about the crime rate in NYC.
just like the right to vote...some people do not deserve the second amendment. Owning a gun is a responsibility and we should all want to make sure we keep weapons out of the hands of nutjobs.
"some people do not deserve the second amendment." Wow. Just Wow.
I can think of one right now.

he may be too statist to be our candidate, but he is a good man.
Molon Labe!
Huckabee scores huge points on the death penalty question.
Huck continues to shine.
I have to note that if you cross an Arkansas state politician with a preacher you're going to get a man who can answer almost anything related to religion, life, and history very smoothly. He can make a simply logical answer sound like a revelation.
Huckabee is good at answering those questions.
I'm waiting for his answer on the question from the young Muslim woman.
