The looney left loses its collective mind over today's PBA decision

This is how the "Culture of Death" responds when any attempt is made to restrict the "sacrament" of abortion (and, in this case, infanticide).

"The 5 Catholics on the court have ruled!! Why don't we just outsource the Supreme Court to the Vatican. Save some money!!"

"I'm awfully glad to know that the Federalist Society ideologues are now making my medical decisions for me instead of my trained physicians."

"Be thankful the Jehovah's Witnesses aren't in charge of naming Supreme Court justices. Then we would have a ban on blood transfusions and other organ transplants."

"One big difference will be dead women and probably ultimately a few jailed physicians who couldn't bear to let a pateint die because of the poor judgment of Federalist Society ideologues."

(WARNING/FYI: The link is to Daily Kos)

(More below the fold)

"I couldn't help but notice that the news accounts all avoid mentioning that the five-Justice majority in this case consists solely of the five Catholic Justices on the Court! I guess a religious test has been established here in America."

"Double Damn those 'activist' judges imposing their beliefs and will on the rest of society."

"F*CK! f*ck f*ck f*ck We are f*cked!"

"'Undue burdens' to Republicans are only an issue when their daughters get pregnant from a sexual assault. I piss on the SCOTUS 5, George Bush, and the Republican party."

"Well, if only [Justice Thomas] would think for himself, he might not have been subject to that 'high-tech lynching.' He's been nothing more than Scalia's and the right's lap dog. Has he actually written more than one opinion?"

"Well, let's give some love to Thomas's Federalist Society clerks, who do most of the writing. And thinking, I've heard."

"Impeach one of them after Jan. 09. Any Republican-especially a Bush appointee - is bound to be a crook somehow..."

"We're in your uteri! Whee! Once again, a gang of old rich conservative men slip their cold fingers into the wombs of America's women to punish them for having sex. Naughty, naughty vixens."

"I sit here, tears of rage filling my eyes. I can barely see the picture on my desk - the picture taken in the Winter of '92 of my daughter and two of her friends marching in front of the Bush White House, signs held high, smiling and laughing, certain in that crowd of half a million, that their rights to control their own bodies would never be restricted. Just out of college........they were so young."

"Thomas won't last as long, there is a history of health problems in his family."

"Why don't these hypocritical Anti-Choicers just admit that their motive is not to value innocent human life but rather, TO PUNISH WOMEN FOR HAVING SEX? WHY DON'T THEY JUST ADMIT THAT THEIR TRUE AGENDA IS TO BRING BIG BROTHER/BIG GOVERNMENT INTO THE PRIVACY OF OUR BEDROOMS AND UTERUSES BY INTERERRING WITH THE PEOPLE'S MOST PERSONAL FAMILY PLANNING DECISIONS ABOUT OUR HEALTH, LIVES AND BODIES?"

"Bush will try the wingnuttiest pick he can. Because that's who he is. And don't bet that he won't get it through. Our margin is awfully slim."

"This ruling is just a scrap being thrown to the fundies to calm them down and keep them from bolting. Let's face it, the ban on so-called 'partial birth abortion' does not equal banning all abortions and unlikely will it lead to that in the near future. As an aside, a hearty 'f*ck you' to all the 'Democrats' who didn't have the stomach to fight the Alito and Roberts nominations."

"Good to know another stupid, right wing Orwellian talking point was passed into federal law."

"They're just not happy unless they're making life as dangerous, unpleasant, and restricted as possible, are they? And while I've never been hostile to Catholics (my mom was very careful to prevent that back when the SBC hadn't yet made common political cause with the RCC), they are lending a very unfortunate veneer of intellectual respectability to a bunch of sexually-obsessed fanatics. So more women will suffer (thanks to being forced to use more dangerous methods) medical complications, lose their fertility, have more complicated subsequent pregnancies, or even die, all to score cheap political points. And to allow a bunch of meddling fundied to weep crocodile tears over the corpses of babies that could never have lived, and that they would never have given a crap about had they managed to survive. Not even a toddler is as ignorant, illogical, and emotionally self-indulgent as these supposed adults; they're not really fit for a civilized society."

"The Republican Party In A Nutshell: Love the fetus. Hate the child. Kill the adult."

"Five old Men: This is how it will be for women in fascist Amerika in the 21st century. Roe will Go all W needs now is one more judge and in the next 2 yrs. he's very likely to see his shot with Stevens at 87 and Ruth Ginsburg ill. Will the Demos. fight to stop another Roberts or Alito? Not likely. The country will then be divided once again by this issue. North and South. The anti crowd won't stop there either. They won't be happy until they end abortion in all 50 states and also end contraception. The control of people's reproductive systems is the no. 2 goal of the hard right. Right after eliminating all taxes on the rich that is."

"This is why judges ARE important and better to err on the side of a liberal jurist than a conservative jurist!! After all, this country was founded on Liberal principles of individual rights, equality and freedoms, not conservative ones of King and religion uber-alles. Also, members of the Federalist society (e.g. Scalia) should be a red flag!! Of course, anything from this administration should be automatically suspect.

I hope the pink tu-tu Dems learn this and start really fighting these shitty nominations. Alito and Roberts should have never been confirmed and should have been resisted with all possible strength. Dems that voted for these asses, whether in the full vote of hearing vote should be held to account!"

"Christians Gotta Be Piiisssed. 7 Years.

Bush's war.

911.

Corporate corruption unparalleled.

Katrina.

All this and all the Christians got was some half-assed partial birth abortion ban.

You can't stop Progress at this rate.

Everything the Christians wanted out of Bush, he's just basically taken a big fat dump on.

And now, because of Bush's other agendas, the Dems will now be in power.

Some might say the court now has a generation to ban abortion. But that's not the direction Progress is moving, and if they haven't done anything by now, it's looking dim for the lunatic party.

Bush so totally ripped off the Christians. Hopefully by now, they realize how they've been used by Bush, like a nasty piece of toilet paper."

I think you managed by kowalski

I think you managed to quote the leadership of every left-wing non-profit organization in this post. That's truly an amazing accomplishment.

Can you feel the hate?

I think you managed to quote the leadership of every left-wing non-profit organization in this post.

How's that? All of the quotes are random comments. There are plenty of reasonable responses in that same thread. For example:

The majority is wrong because it's wrong, not because it's Catholic. I don't like this kind of argument at all.

You can pick and choose comments from any blog online, but what's the point really?

Perhaps the author should look again. Thomas clearly outlined a path forward.

If you don't like the federal government regulating this issue, argue before the court that Congress lacks standing on the issue. That is the Federalist Society position.

We should be pointing this out.

Perhaps more on the left would come to appreciate enumerated powers.

Like some of the Dems who voted for this bill, like Reid, Daschle, and Murtha. Heh.

And here's Patterico's money question about the duplicity of Harry voting against partial birth aborion, then crying outrage after the SCOTUS upholds his vote...

"Which raises the question of whether he (Reid) makes a habit of voting for bills he deems to be unconstitutional."

Sigh. There's something by blackrepublican

Sigh. There's something oddly satisfying about uncontrollably angry liberals.

There is nothing lonelier than being a black Republican in Boston, Massachusetts

Or a chinese Republican in SF...

Or a Latino conservative in Houston, TX... oh shucks, you two got me beat.

What a hoot. by hunter

they are happy enough to impose rule by Court when it goes their way.
They are terribly unhappy when they not only lose the vote but the friendly judges in one fell swoop.
The idea that abortion is sacrosanct and cannot be reasonably regulated was extreme and bound to fail.

...if the Kossites think that this is somehow a punishment for having sex, are they really mentally and emotionally with it enough to have sex in the first place? Just curious (and somewhat channeling my sex ed instructors from middle school in doing so).

"I could explain, but that would be very long, very convoluted, and make you look very stupid. Nobody wants that... except maybe me."

a ban on partial birth abortion is clearly punishment for women who are raped and for whatever reason wait 8 months to have an abortion. Anybody who thinks otherwise is no different then the Taliban!

What makes arguments against PBA so shallow and knee-jerk partisan is that these same people defend abortion early on in pregnancy as aborting a zygote, a clump of cells, or at best a fetus. I don't agree with these arguments, but concede that they at least pass the laugh-test. But there is no doubt that by the time PBA comes into play, it's a _baby_ we're talking about, and could live outside of the womb, provided, you know, you don't drive a spike through its forehead.

instead of the limbs of the unborn. pity.
