Next time, don't put up two unqualified candidates by tankertodd

Democrats have only themselves to blame. They invited all this when they selected candidates to suit identity and elitist political interests. Republicans select candidates based on ideas. And more importantly, those candidates are extremely qualified. On qualifications alone, McCain slaughters Clinton and Obama. Check out how McCain whomps up on the other two in this Charlotte Observer poll.
A summary:
Percentage of respondents rating the candidate an 8,9, or 10 on a scale of 1-10:

Experience: 62% McCain (41% Clinton, 25% Obama)
Trustworthiness: 54% McCain (25% Clinton, 48% Obama)
Equipped to run the country Day 1: 52% McCain (31% Clinton, 32% Obama)
Homeland Security Credentials: 55% McCain (26% Clinton, 22% Obama)

McCain gets killed in ability to connect with voters (33% vs. Obama's 65%..Clinton got 33%) Fortunately Obama reinforces the negative stereotype of the "all sizzle, no steak" candidate, so Obama hurts himself in a way as long as he relies on this sex appeal.
All 3 score well in intelligence with Obama taking the cake (76% vs. McCain 64% and 65% Clinton.) Bush was never seen as a rocket scientist yet got elected twice over perceived intellectually superior competitors so this one probably doesn't matter at all.

Clinton: a few years in the Senate, a few years as a lawyer
Obama: a few years in the Senate, some Marxist activism
Edwards: a few years in the Senate, some time suing people

You have to drop lower in the chain to find people with useful experience, like Richardson.

By their place in line. If we were going on ideas Fred should have won. Experience would have had Mitt or Rudy winning.
