Cheney Rates Higher Than Reid

Another Pot Calling The Kettle Black

By California Yankee Posted in Comments (22) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

Yesterday, AmandaBCarpenter called Senate Majority Reid to task for his reaction to Vice President Dick Cheney accurately pointing out that Reid has been inconsistent on Iraq lately:

"I’m not going to get into a name-calling match with someone who has a 9% approval ratings," Reid said. He then called Cheney the "Administration's chief attack dog."

You can watch the video below the fold to see an example of Reid's recent Iraq flip flopping.

Today the Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reports on a new Harris Poll that finds Vice President Cheney's approval rating is 25 percent, higher than Reid's 22 percent.

The WSJ noted that this was the first time since this polling series began that all of the political figures and institutions included in the survey received negative performance ratings. Speaker Pelosi saw her approval rating fall to 30 percent in April from 38% in February, shortly after she was sworn in.

There's more.

Here's the link to the Washington Post article about Reid endorsing a cut off of war funding.

Go Digg it up. Digg.com

Evil prevails only when good men do nothing.

It was left out in this thread's main comment that 26% of respondents were not sure of Harry Reid's performance, whereas only 7% were not sure about Cheney's. In other words, Cheney is a much better known character than Reid.
68% rate Cheney negatively, while 52% rate Reid negatively.

As we can see, the difference on the "positive" rating is minuscule, while the difference in the negative rating is major.

In other polls where "not sure" was not an option and respondents had to choose between positive or negative, Harry Reid comes way ahead.

The more people get to know Reid the more they dislike him?

Great campaign sloagan: "Reid: He's not so bad if you don't know about him!"

seem to have complete confidence in his abilities. Nobody's accusing him of incompetence; many of those who disapprove do so exactly because they perceive something dangerous about his talents.

I don't think the same can really be said about Sen. Reid. There may be many Democrats who wonder why he, of all available senior Democrats in the Senate, was ever made majority leader.

To use this in the future, just use the script from here.

in the touting of Cheney's 25% approval rating?

That's ridiculous! 3 out of 4 think he's a bum and you are happy because he's still a couple miserable points above Reid?!? (And probably within the margin of error anyway)

Bush and Cheney are wrapping a gift, and inside is the presidency, a bigger congressional majority, and hundreds of court nominees for Democrats.

But Cheney "beat" Reid in some half-baked poll. Whoopie.

No one was "touting" Cheney's approval rating.

Cheney criticized Reid's public surrender. Reid responded with a childish dig at Cheney's approval rating. California Yankee pointed out that Reid's approval rating is even lower than Cheney's.

You do understand irony. Don't you?

Fuzzy Math by Jason Wolf

The Washington Post-ABC News Poll (April 15) shows Pelosi's approval at 53% approve and 35% disapprove. Quite a bit different numbers than the WSJ.

is that all MSM polls are worth ****. I wonder how many moonbats included in the poll were watching Rosie O'Donnell when the call came?

was the Star Tribune poll last election for the MN-04 race between Bachmann (R) and Wetterling (D). The Star Trib had Wetterling up by 10 points the week before the election. Bachmann won by about 4%.

Wrong about Bachmann by horaceox

She won by 8. Get your facts straight when you're swatting down lefties. :-)

this is the second thread in which you've conducted a drive-by non sequitur attack. If you have technical reasons why the WSJ poll is inaccurate, feel free to chime in. This story isn't about your poll. If you want to discuss your poll, start a diary.

a low approval rating. Only each party's respective base appears to be approving at this point. And I don't know that, were I an an administration supporter, I'd be touting a poll that puts Bush at 28%.

That Unity '08 campaign may yet have some life in it. Or not.

Once again... by CSUFBomb

...no one was "touting" and this thread has nothing to do with President Bush.

It was about the irony of Harry Reid defending himself against Cheney's criticism by pointing and laughing at Cheney's approval ratings . . . when Harry's ratings are lower.

If liberals understood irony, perhaps they'd be conservatives.

The best way to deal with this is simply drop out the undecideds and then do an analysis of people who respond. Kind of like dropping third parties to do an analysis of the two-party vote.

If you do this, Cheney ends up with a 27% approval among people who have an opinion of him. Reid ends up at 30%. Not a whole lot of difference there.

http://www.myelectionanalysis.com

would even say something like that is truly frightening. He is not a statesman or a thinker, but merely an empty suit playing politics. I can understand the leftist trolls who think polling data is the equivalent of a coherent argument (if only 30% of Americans can name the VP, how can their opinions be trusted?), but from the leader of the Senate? Then again, this is the same man who is so invested in defeat that he simply cannot let this country win this long war.

We watched these same people throw millions of South East Asians to the wolves, and they believe that they can do it again. We must stop them. We are at war with the imbeciles in our own country as surely the men are who face the barely human enemy in Iraq. We cannot fail those men.

The comments of the leftists here are appropriately pathetic. Reid is not a leader. Reid is a follower. He will follow whatever polls the media generates for him to follow, and thereby is an anathema to our Republic.
