Jim Webb is a Real Man

When I grow up I want to be just like him

Amanda Carpenter reported yesterday on a staffer of Jim Webb (D-Traditional Cambodian Greeting) getting busted while lugging the good senator’s firearm through Capitol Police security station.

We all know Jim Webb is a stand up guy and we weren’t disappointed when he came out swinging hard in defense of his staffer and of the Second Amendment.

Sen. Jim Webb on Tuesday called the arrest of a top aide on weapons charges "extremely unfortunate" after the aide was stopped as he brought the senator's loaded pistol into a Senate office building.

[…]

Webb declined to comment on details of Thompson's case but called him "a longtime friend" and "a fine individual."

"He has worked for me since the beginning of the campaign last year," he said. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I think this is one of those very unfortunate situations where, completely inadvertently, he took the weapon into the Senate yesterday."

Webb, who has a concealed handgun permit in Virginia, said he handed his gun off to aides before getting on a plane Friday to New Orleans, Louisiana. He said he did not give Thompson the weapon directly and was unsure how it ended up with him.

Translated from the original Cambodian, I think this means, roughly, “this ain’t my problem”.

Note to self... by kowalski

Note to self: If you ever wind up working for Jim Webb, make sure you look carefully into the bag that you are supposed to retrieve for him before walking into the Senate with it. All kinds of strange things could show up in there. Maybe next time it'll be dynamite. Perhaps he was trying to send his aide an indirect message about his performance. Who knows?

Inadvertency covers a lot of things, I guess, when you're Jim Webb. All that I know is that if *I* tried to walk into the Senate with a gun that didn't belong to me, I'd be In The Hoosegow, Up Da River, In Da Clink, and with Da Key Thrown Away right now.

Maybe Jim Webb should take an NRA course on the responsible handling of his personal firearms.

Public employees. He could of just fired the poor sod, setting him up for prosecution is a bit much.

a public employee that even I never thought of! Did buy an undercover cop who'd been tailing me on behalf of one of the cop unions two lap dances one time. That was great fun as he sat there wondering who had the camera. Think maybe that's the best one I ever came up with.

It was great fun! by Achance

Nasty negotiations leading to interest arbitration. I'm driving back to the hotel and figure out I'm being tailed. I made the tail because he was an undercover narc that we'd had one of the unions dispatch into one of our prisons as a food service worker to try to break up some contraband smuggling. I recognized him, he didn't recognize me. So, when I figure out I'm being tailed, I whip into one of Anchorage's more disreputable strip joints and he follows me in. I call over a couple of girls and buy him a dance. Then I went over and introduced him to the girls and told him to tell the boys not to do stuff like then again. Good fun!

If this is how Democrats handle the responsibility of carrying firearms, I can understand why they don't think people should be allowed to have them. Maybe they just don't realize that we're all not that stupid.
