Her Imperial Nanciness ("Madame Speaker") has waved her want of the menu of the cafeterias in the U.S. House of Representatives, and everything has gone "green."
Newly ascendant Democrats may have hit roadblocks on Iraq and fiscal issues, but they have revamped congressional menus, replacing fatty, pre-made foods with healthier, gourmet alternatives. The once dreary congressional cafeterias now abound with haute cuisine.
The menu transformation is part of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “Greening the Capitol” plan to make the House campus more environmentally friendly and socially progressive.

Queen Nancy’s attempt to “green up” Capitol Hill has left the entire campus confused and mostly pissed off. As if prices for food in the House cafeterias didn’t suck enough, apparently they suck even more now that the menu includes items such as “cage-free shell eggs” and Wolfgang Puck’s, famous “Vive la Crème Caramel” coffee.

Republican aides have raised questions about why the cafeterias now stock Stonyfield Farm yogurt, speculating that the move would line the pockets of the company’s CEO, Gary Hirshberg, a significant player in Democratic politics.
That assertion is nonsense, said Jeff Ventura, a spokesman for the chief administrative officer, the House official who oversees the cafeterias. He said the new food vendor, Restaurant Associates, selected the yogurt producer based on price, quality and consumer satisfaction.
What the…?
But it's from Jeff Ventura, spokesman for the guy who runs the House cafeterias.
One of the e-mails published on the FamousDC site I linked reads, in part:
[H[onestly, why does the Chief Administrative Officer [cafeteria guy] need a spokesman? What a waste of a salary…speaking of salary, turns out he makes a little over $106,400 a year.
Indeed. But at least now they'll serve wine with a decent vintage.

That's for the spokesman for the guy who runs the cafeteria. I'm sure the guy who actually runs the cafeteria makes more.

Republican need to paint Pelosi as a latter-day Marie Antoinette running non-stop ads if necessary in key Congressional districts to show how out of touch Congress is- those very Dkats that champion the cause of the common man (or gal). But don't hold your breath.

Given Ms. Pelosi's legislative record I would recommend the 'Crow Baked In Humble Pie'. Its good that the Dems are going to be so well fed, the rest of us will be losing weight as they tax us into poverty.
