Friday Night Open Thread: more Hillary and Barry sniping by proxy
Hillary did nothing with national security during her hubby's regime.

Obama advisor/guru Greg Craig, a once-upon-a-time Clinton (Bill) aide, chatted with National Journal's Linda Douglass and dropped this about Hillary's participation in the Clinton Administration:
"She did not sit in on national security meetings. She did not have a security clearance. She did not attend meetings in the situation room. She conducted no negotiations. She did not manage any part of the national security bureaucracy."
Neither did Barry.
I think we need the old guy there at the phone at 3 AM.

According to the Washington Times, a senior aide to bin Ladin has been handed over to U.S. officials. Let's continue to point out that our military and law enforcement officials have continued on the hunt to find these terrorists and get vital information to continue to keep us safe at home.
You can read the story here.

That one's talking about some wacky DC gun amnesty/search program. Let's try this link.
Darn if all those article links look alike. That's what I get for linking to the same news paper's web site twice.

All these comments from Obama/Clinton and their surrogates tearing each other apart can make some fantastic campaign ads. And the ranting Pastor's bluster is tailor-made for TV spots with Obama and Wright side by side.
But it all depends on McCain having the right people to take advantage of these opportunities.
What I don't get is: Why even take a gamble on Obama wrt national security? He's inexperienced, untested, and unknown.
McCain is a sure thing. Obama is a mystery. Why would anyone want to possibly take this risk?
His continued open borders position is very troubling to me. And continuing the Iraq War for 100 years if necessary will financially ruin us so we won't be able to defend ourselves against a real threat from a real enemy.
you'll be dead in 100 years, so what do you really care? And in 100 years nobody will remember what dumbo wrote on a blog -- but they will remember President McCain defended the country.

I have my kids future to worry about. I was only saying that our current financial straights are the biggest threat to our security. And McCain is more worried about Iraq and having open borders. I think his judgement on National Security is misplaced.
No, in 100 years, or 10 years for that matter, we will not be in the same battle as we are now. What that means is that, like Germany, Japan and Korea, we have a presence. Look at what has evolved in those Countries? They are great, productive, trading partners as well as allies.
McCain has gotten the message on Border Security and has vowed to yield to the will of the people.
We did not get that last night on his interview on Hannity/Colmes.
He still supporta Feingold. He still will not drill in ANWAR. He still will not enforce current Immigration Laws... Guess to him that is yeilding to the will of the people.
The Iraq war is part of the war on islamist jihadism - defending ourselves & the rest of the free world agains a real threat from the real enemy.
I like what he says about true border security & workplace enforcement. I believe that if the amnesty bill came back up, we would beat it back down again.
I hope you do not find this post misplaced. I just wanted RS readers to check this out. I finished reading "The Looming Tower" by Lawrence Wright. This is one of the best books I've ever read in my life. It walks you through the rise of radical Islam and how an unbelievable series of seemingly unimportant events weave together to facilitate the events of 9/11. For all the people who think they understand that fateful day in our history, I ask you read this book and the details will enlighten and astonish you. Good reading to you all! And God Bless America. Thanks
I find your lack of faith....disturbing.

As bad as McCain is, at least now he supports closing the border and at least he doesn't support giving away DLs to illegals as Obama does.

I never said Obama is better, quite the opposite. But McCain needs to better understand the bigger threats that are right here. Our financial situation is such that if we had a real war and nobody would lend us money we would be cooked. This is because we don't any money, it is all borrowed or printed. This should be the foremost thing on his mind to strengthen our national security.
but then we never need go to war. Just send out letters of marquis

What are you talking about? What are letters of marquis? Wars cost money, If you don't have it then it will be difficult to wage war. We can handle these little ones but a big WW2 size conflict, not a chance.
Do you ever make comments that aren't harassing or degrading to others?
letters of Marquis, or Letters or Marque, were legal instruments
issued by European powers during the colonial wars. They authorized a private vessel to become a legal pirate or Privateer.
Jean Lafitte was called a pirate, but actually he held letters of Marque against both the British and sometimes the Spanish.
Otherwise Jackson would never have allied with him. We might thin of it as a thin fig leaf, but it was important to "honorable" gentlemen.

I knew that was mentioned in the Constitution but didn't have the slightest idea what they were.
Until your reply the only ones I got were just downright rude. My first day on here with a friends recommendation was almost my last.
Red State is on of the few places,(hell the only one) you could get into a deep discussion about history, politics, philosophy, or a light hearted discussion of sports, science fiction, or comic books.
And every once in a while we have "talk like a pirate day" AARRGH!

and with your short time on the site you are suspect -- especially when you come up with anything offside. Sorry, but establish some cred over a period of time and you will be fine.

You seem to be the king pouncer of opinions different than yours. I want to commet on and debate the issues openly. I don't need some weasel trolling around harassing me on every post I make. If you can't debate me on the issues please don't reply to my posts. I would rather not waste my time on someone who has such weak opinions that they resort to personal attacks. That is the trademark tactic of liberals. Are you a liberal?
I assume you are bright enough to know what that means __ and the word is you're

Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion
I think Obama is finished.
We need to start preparing to run against HRC. And the economy will be in the tank come November. This is an uphill battle for McCain.
I was hoping he would roll over Hillary before his campaign imploded.

and with the Dem Primary season dragging on and on and on until June, it was going to be pretty hard to keep his past a secret until the weekend before the election -- like 2000 and the DWI.
And, of course, it is likely that the Hillary campaign is combing the archives for audio and video to hand over to conservative bloggers.

I hope so, but I doubt it's true.
Second, you really think Obambi is easier to beat? What about that "messiah" stuff and all?
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
Not everyone can say they support any (political) thing their Pastor says so why would ANYONE hold Obama to a different standard WRIGHT or wrong?
With malice towards none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see right.
He gave losts of money in recent years to this church. Plus has been a member for 20+ years. I don't agree with some of the things my priest says (some liberal BS) but he is not offensive and hateful with his sermons. I definetly wouldn't seek out someone like this to marry me or baptize my kids. I think there is more to there relationship than just a guy in the pew listening to a sermon and disagreeing with some of it.
watching Obama squirm, & Hillary squirm. She's in attack mode & has the momentum; however, unless there is a mass brain-washing on the last night of the convention (that sticks) the democrats are going to have a LOT of unhappy campers going into the general.
He appeared on all three cable networks giving interviews about his pastor.
Even that steaming pile Keith Olbermann came in on his day off to give a softball interview with him.

Head over to DailyKos and observe the chaos.. God, I love it.
Of course, they won't actually allow a Rev Wright story on their front page so you have to look at the diaries to see the flame wars. Clinton supporters have taken a bashing by Obamabots for weeks and now they're giving it back. heee heee!
As others have mentioned, the sweetest part about this Dem implosion is how long they are dragging this on. Even if Obama finally gets the nomination (and I fear he's the hardest to beat) there will be so many PO'd Clinton supporters that McCain may be able to squeak in.
The icing on the cake, of course, would be if McCain could win it in a close election. That's a good thing you ask? Sure! It would give us weeks of entertainment watching the nutroots howl about having the election "stolen" once again.
Popcorn anyone?

is let the other side continue to argue that they aren't ready to be CinC. Then, after they get done, just make the case that he is. They are going to do half the work for him.
