The They Let Norman Hsu Out On Bail *AGAIN* Weekend Memorial Open Thread.
No, really. Five million dollars bail this go-round.

Which you'd think would keep him where we could see him - except that, as Captain Ed noted, the man apparently could write a personal check for the full amount.
Sorry, guys: this has to be an open thread. I got nothing that can match that bit of real-life surreality.
UPDATE: This has nothing to do with Hsu; I merely wish to confuse the living heck out of Jonathan Coulton's server logs.
Have a good weekend, folks: it's supposed to be gorgeous.

Can lend some money to Bill Belichick now that he's out. I hear he needs some new hoodies, but he just doesn't have the dough for them anymore.
“We don’t need any more cultural centers,” Mr. Coburn said. “We’re fighting a war; why should we be spending any more on a cultural center?”
didn't put up the bail. The last thing they could possibly want is Hsu where he is readily available to anti-fraud investigators.
they intend to chop him into Hsushi? (Must. Stop. Emitting. Bad. Puns....)

Will the Dems have to operate on a Hsu-string budget?

but he'll still be getting used as an ATM.

Before somebody Hsu over those puns...
and in other news...
Flight risk... suicide risk... clearly using other peoples money to post his bond... stolen money... If he were a GOP operative he's be buried so deep they would need to pump him sunlight.
Hsu will never see another day of jail, will never testify, and likely will be dead before the month is out... one way or the other.
This, my friends, is what happens when Democrats pick Judges.
...who now has a documented history of threatening suicide. Think he'll follow through? Nah, that's too obvious, too brazen. That'd be like hiring Sandy Berger as a foreign policy advisor.
If he skipped on bail before, doesn't that give the judge grounds to hold him indefinitely without bail? If there is not a law about this, there should be.
will implicate Fred Thompson or John Edwards...

...his final Hsuicide note? Or is he going to lay out his entire manifesto in a series of attempted suicide notes? ;)
...so far he's batting .000, so we'll have to wait to see what the final average ends up being. If the first one was any indication, though, he's got a few more left in him at least. Wow... just about becoming the classic case of "how not to kill yourself" (then again, trying to off himself on Amtrak does make for a weird irony for a Democrat fundraiser... I guess everything the left does gets government subsidies anymore!).

Some deep thinker in the MSM is no doubt going to make the link between this and Hsu being "railroaded by the judicial system".
So long as this is an open thread, I would like to offer the following...
It was bad enough to have to endure the whining of Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) - who given he's a Pointer should know what is the Senate's proper role in determining the course of authorized military action undertaken by the CinC, but I'll let that slide for the time being - given "equal time" by the networks to spew-out the well-worn Democrat Party mantra on the war some 30-seconds after the President (said CinC) finished. Unprecidented to my mind (were there "Republican Responses" to FDR's fireside chats?), but hey, the MSM tanking for the Democrats is the ultimate "Dog-Bites-Man" so I suppose pushing that envelope a smidge is not really much of a shock.
But did we have to endure the injection of a Democrat Talking Point™ on Childrens Healthcare - Childrens Freaking Healthcare - into a debate on the future of Jihadistan?
I suppose we did.

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.
if he's in jail. But this time, and really real, Hillary will vet him, like she and Bill have been doing since the 80's.
Besides, this is a situation that involves democrats, the rules and expectations are much different, they'll probably arrest the cops that brought him into custody and then have him testify in Congress about Republican corruption and the evils of money in politics.

What ever happened to the term "flight risk"? So much for the rule of law...if one of us skipped out, you can be sure our treatment would be quite different.
So Hsu's Hillary's big money daddy now?

With malice towards none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see right.
This case is vexing to me. I am only a second year law student, but the general standard in determining whether bail is to be allowed is a two tiered test in which both standards must be met in the ngative. First, is the person in question a flight risk? This guy is the poster child for flight risks. Second, does the person in question pose a threat to himself or the public? News reports indicate that he sent out suicide notes, so he is apparently a risk to himself. He flunks both tests. Why is he getting bail again? There must be something missing...
Is he important to powerful Dems?

Those familiar with the proper way to read them should agree with me that this one was probably written by a woman:
