Hey folks,
It’s been an interesting day on Capitol Hill.
No doubt you know by now about the ad Moveon.org placed in the New York Times (https://pol.moveon.org/petraeus.html) that slandered General David Petraeus, a four-star general and commander of our troops in Iraq.
I first met General Petraeus in Baghdad when I led a delegation of congressmen to Iraq in 2005. I have spent time with him twice on subsequent trips to Iraq. He is an outstanding soldier. (bio link: http://www.mnf-iraq.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Ite...
You are probably also familiar with the vote the Senate took last week on an amendment by Senator John Cornyn to condemn the ad. (link: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297498,00.html)
Unfortunately, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer refused to follow the Senate’s lead and allow a vote on a similar resolution authored by Republican Leader John Boehner. Just last week Majority Leader Hoyer said, “I don’t having any intent at this point in time to bring up that resolution.”
So today House Republicans took matters into their own hands.
Read on . . .
During a Foreign Affairs Committee vote this morning, I offered an amendment to condemn the moveon.org ad. Democrats would not allow debate, shut down deliberations and went straight to a vote.
All but three Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted to table my amendment that condemned the egregious MOVEON attack, by a vote of 23-13.
But we were not through.
The House Republican leadership, through a swift bit of maneuvering, was able to force members of the House to go on record with a vote to condemn the moveon.org attack.
Moments after 23 Democrats voted to kill the Pence Amendment, House Republican leaders called the vote and 341 Members of Congress voted to honor General David Petraeus and denounce the personal attacks of moveon.org.
Take heart my friends. The left cannot stand the least bit of positive news that comes out of Iraq but we cannot let them prevail. A safe and secure Iraq is vital for the stability of the Middle East.
If we do not grow weary in doing good, freedom will prevail in Iraq.

...a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right...

It is heartening to see again that there are those leaders out there who do not "tire of doing good". Rep. Pence, you are a hero.

These liberals need to be paraded in the media (alternate) every day for the socialist American hating people they have somehow become.
The United States Military are todays rock stars to this persons heart and I take the opprotunity every time I see one to thank them for their service to the best country in the world.
Lets make sure to use Hillary's vote against General Petraus in the general election because she is in no position to be commanding these fine men and women.
Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion

Thank you very much Congressman Pence! You truly are one of the best in Congress.
I can't wait till you are Senator Pence!
