The Sickening Ramsey Clark

The UK Sun has a story on an interview with Saddam Hussein. I'm not concerned about what Hussein has to say, because its Hussein. You expect him to say outlandish things. On the other hand, The words of his defense team and in particular former Attorney General Ramsey Clark are of greater worry to me:

Bizarrely, his legal team address Saddam as "Mr President" -- despite the fact he tortured, gassed and butchered an estimated 300,000 of his own people during a 24-year reign of terror...

Mr Clark added: "Before Saddam's capture he was moving every day to a different location, organising the insurgents.

"But every few days he came back to this escape area. Now he knows it was a mistake. Probably American soldiers did not discover the hole. They were told about it..."

Saddam is not paying his legal team during the trial.

Mr Clark said: "Saddam doesn't have any money and even if he had, I wouldn't accept it."

This really tells you all you need to know about Ramsey Clark. Clark's only regret in life must be that he wasn't old enough to represent the Nazis at Nuremburg. As he seems to enjoy humoring America's enemies and is happy to do the dirty deed pro bono, I'm certain he would have enjoyed helping a few Gestapo agents out.

There's of course, something to be said for providing a vigorous defense in court, which I wouldn't fault Clark for, but he clearly crosses the line with adulation and support of the evil Hussein dictatorship.

For most leftists, when we get into debates over the Iraq War, I'm clear that I'm not questioning their patriotism, only their judgment. Well, Mr. Clark, I am questioning your patriotism, as well as your human decency.

Saw the History Channel bio of Saddaam Hussein again on Sunday night.  This should be shown on the regular networks in prime time.  Clark is clearly an enemy sympathyzer.

One optimistic note: Another enemy sympathizer lawyer, Lynn Stewart is scheduled to be sentenced in Jan 2006.  Hope she gets a long prison term
