So says Ramesh in the corner. If you know anyone at CNN, now is the time to get on the horn.
Update [2005-2-11 19:22:27 by krempasky]: It's true, Jordan resigned.
NEW YORK - CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amidst a furor over remarks he made in Switzerland last month about journalists killed by the U.S. military in Iraq.Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being "unfairly tarnished" by the controversy.
During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum last month, Jordan said he believed that several journalists who were killed by coalition forces in Iraq had been targeted.
He quickly backed off the remarks, explaining that he meant to distinguish between journalists killed because they were in the wrong place where a bomb fell, for example, and those killed because they were shot at by American forces who mistook them for the enemy.
"I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise," Jordan said in a memo to fellow staff members at CNN.
But the damage had been done, compounded by the fact that no transcript of his actual remarks has turned up. There was an online petition calling on CNN to find a transcript, and fire Jordan if he said the military had intentionally killed journalists.
So much credit is due so many, expect a massive link round up in the morning. If you'd like to be included - email me your posts at mkrempasky at geemail dot com.
Update [2005-2-11 21:34:49 by Erick]: Sources from the newsroom at CNN tell us that as of 5pm today, no one was talking about, let alone thinking of a resignation. "It's what the Clinton Adminstration taught everyone," said one. "Bury the news on Friday night and no one hears about till Monday."

I suppose some would be feeling duped for swallowing the excuses. But probably not.
We probably emptied our gun for a little while on this one.
...that this story is not listed in the main stories on cnn.com, but is in fact listed down the page in the entertainment section. Kind of defines the act of trying to be inconspicuous. lol

Rats, try this again.
Well, Friday afternoon is the default time to bury <strike>bodies</strike> bad news...
