You've got three days to do something about a threat to your freedom online. The Chicago Tribune has an article on the controversy today that covers a good bit of ground.
You can learn more about the problem here - and email your comments to the FEC at internet@fec.gov. Comments do not include, "keep your grubby hands of my internet!" This is a regulatory process and the FEC needs, more than anything else, a bit of an education - tell them how YOU use technology to engage in politics. Tell them where you get your news. Do you depend on blogs? Do you write one? Do you hope to participate in upcoming campaigns? Do you ever worry about legal action resulting from something you posted to the web - on your own site or a discussion board, for instance?
Remember, you MUST include your "snail mail" address in your comment for it to be accepted at the Federal Election Commission.

If you send an electronic message to internet@fec.gov, you must cc internettestify@fec.gov as well.
You aren't sending your typical "hi how r u" email here folks. Use proper grammar, spelling, and make coherent, if not cogent, arguments. The letter should start with
Also, they are accepting the comments in either MS Word (.doc) format, or Adobe PDF (.pdf) format. My recommendation is to send it as a PDF so that it cannot be altered, either deliberately or otherwise. You can download OpenOffice and export to PDF, or use a number of free web services if you don't already own Adobe Acrobat Professional.
