Endorsements for Bolton

Here is Sidney Blumenthal, carried by a Cuban web site, proclaiming that Dick Armitage is "orchestrating much of the action" in opposition to John Bolton. This is from the AP Thursday:

Bolton also was endorsed by former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, who told a reporter, "John Bolton is eminently qualified. He's one of the smartest guys in Washington."

Armitage is close to former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who did not sign a letter sent last month to Lugar by all other former living Republican secretaries of state backing Bolton.

Asked if Bolton was a good choice, Armitage replied carefully, "It was the president's choice and I support my president."

Also Thursday, Bolton's office made available a letter to Bolton from former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher:

To combine, as you do, clarity of thought, courtesy of expression and an unshakable commitment to justice is rare in any walk of life. But it is particularly so in international affairs," Thatcher wrote in her letter dated Wednesday.

"A capacity for straight talking rather than peddling half-truths is a strength and not a disadvantage in diplomacy. Particularly in the case of a great power like America, it is essential that people know where you stand and assume that you mean what you say."

Biden is demanding more docs (see the first linked AP piece). The writing, it seems, is on the wall; we'll see what this last week drags out, who's next to claim that John Bolton chased them across the frozen tundra, bullying them.

And be sure to check out ConfirmBolton.com for the life of the nomination.

Here's the same article by Flintstone

without the conspiratorial overtones of the cuba link, really you must try harder, subverting a source is not as easy as it seems.

A letter from the Iron Lady? well I'm sure that will be viewed as a ringing endorsment by the thinking men/women of this country.

Pathetic.

Castro's Periodico.  It was a fit with the regimes propaganda.

A personal endorsement from a former world leader of Thatcher's import and reputation cannot hurt.

A kind word from Dick Armitage rots the Democrats' case.

Methinks the committee Dems risk ticking off Linc Chafee with this nonsense.  (An example.)

I'm sure that will be viewed as a ringing endorsment by the thinking men/women of this country.

I'd match The Baroness Thatcher against the entire "thinking" editorial board of the New York Times ...

as opposed to their gonads, yes, such praise constitutes an endorsement of import.
