Folks, that's all I've got out of my deep throat at the White House. Not telling, but did say not to pursue Roberts further.
White House staff have just been told the name. We should be hearing it soon now.

Are we back to Jones and Owen?
Maybe one of the hispanics on the list other than the AG?
nominate a hispanic to the court.
I wonder if Garza or Alito didn't make it back onto the short list.
since at least election night last year!
I was going to say that, you beat me to it Gerry. :)
... my guess back in May when the "Gang of 14" did their little dance. And when I assumed Rehnquist would go first.
All I know is that I would HATE to get stuck in a poker game with W.
Good to see you, D! :)
for CJ. I'm somewhere around here on record for Roberts/JRB combo (among my other predictions) although I thought it would go JRB for this spot, since I thought Rehnny was going first too.
Ok, I got this on double super-secret background from a source deeply placed in the WH who was rushing out the door to go on vacation, but the President's nominee is none other than:
Wait for it...
Karl Rove!
No, seriously. Not only does this kill two birds with one stone and drive the moonbats into apopoleptic fury, but once the Dark Lord takes his seat on the Supreme Court, he can use his insidious mind control powers to control the other eight justices, leaving all of America helpless before us! (Bwaahahahahahahaha!)
Soon, the armies of darkness shall rise from the pit and swarm over the nation. Soon, all the lefties will be rounded up and shipped off to internment camps where they will be forced to watch movies like Red Dawn and Rocky IV to re-educate them into good conservatives. Soon, we will enslave the moonbats and turn them into our own personal domestic furniture (I call "dibs" on Kos - he'll make a dandy coffee table or "cigar store moonbat").
Soon...
.....I am fighing off tears laughing so hard. Thank you.
IT IS NEVER CROWDED ALONG THE EXTRA MILE

So we know POTUS said it was a "he."
We know that the shortlist over the past few weeks has been comprised of very few men. Among them: Luttig, Roberts, Garza, Gonzales, Alito.
We know that Alito and Garza were dropped somewhere along the way.
We know both Luttig and Roberts are young originalists who have the class and the intellect to be confirmed.
We know Gonzales was dismissed by grassroots conservatives in a way that had to turn heads at the WH.
And we know that Erick's source said it's not Roberts.
So, in light of all this, the most logical choice seems to be...
Ahh, why bother?
Okay, seriously though, I think Luttig's stock is going back up.
