Senator Tommy Franks? Trails by 2 points!

I have been urging General Franks to run for the US senate for months now. It appears I am not alone. According to the latest poll he is behind Democratic incumbent, Ben Nelson, by 2 points and he has not even announced his candidacy!
His Admin continues to tell me that Gen. Franks is not seeking an elected office. I think we should convice him otherwise.
What Red Stater would prefer Ben Nelson or Katherine Harris over America's General? Please let him know America needs him.

A June Mason-Dixon poll showed that Nelson would beat Katherine Harris 53 to 36 percent if the election were held at the time. Her approval rating with voters in that poll was 32 percent. Nearly the same number, 30 percent, viewed her unfavorably.
A poll conducted by Republican polling firm Strategic Vision last week showed Harris would lose a head-to-head contest with Nelson 40 to 48 percent, but would easily win a primary against several other prominent Florida Republicans, including Bense.
This has some Republicans nervous, since they believe Nelson could be more vulnerable if a less polarizing figure than Harris were to challenge him directly. For instance, former Central Command commander Gen. Tommy Franks (search) trails two points behind Nelson in the same Strategic Vision poll.
one of my two pet rats that if he actually did throw his hat in the ring, those numbers would change rather quickly.
Harris is pretty much a sure loser, and I don't think the NRSC will let Nelson go that easily.
Anyone know where Franks stands on issues?
As an ex military man, I would assume he is pretty strong on defense issues.
On social issues, retired military folks do tend towards a more centralist point of view from what I have seen.
But of course there is Clarke, which blows away all the above...LOL
Franks for Senate, yes...
But also Joe Scarborough for Governor.

Here is the Strategic Vision poll. Nelson 45 - Franks 43.
Bense does surprisingly well also behind only 42-35 with little name recognition. The fact that Nelson garners more support against Harris than against Bense (an unknown) indicates that there are people who will be voting against Harris thus fulfilling the WH's biggest worry that she will lose the election more than Nelson would win it.
Franks would be great. But he still trails Harris in a primary by 30+ points even if he throws his hat in the ring.
