Shadegg Is In?<br>A Review of the Headlines

Up on the Hill yesterday, I heard several people say Shadegg was delaying his announcement until today to see if Blunt had the race wrapped up.

This morning I'm hearing that Blunt does not have the race wrapped up and that Shadegg intends to get in. We can only hope so. The party would be better off with Shadegg.

Just a friendly reminder:

If Boehner gets the nod, the headline will be "Boehner, who passed out tobacco lobbying money on the floor of the House, is new ethically challenged majority leader."

If Blunt gets the nod, the headline will be "Abramoff and DeLay tained Blunt, who ditched his wife for a tobacco lobbyist, is new ethically challenged majority leader."

If Shadegg gets the nod, the headline will be "House Repubicans get serious on ethics. Reject Boehner and Blunt in favor of conservative reformer."

Run Shadegg, run!

in this spot, the headline for him will be:

New Majority Leader took Abramoff money -->

pick as far as the media is concerned.  If Shadegg you may expect,"Shadegg reputed to have crossed street in between, not at the green".  Letters to the editor will pore in from nut houses all over the country.  But if the Party is interested in creating some distance from scandal and has at least a small interest in slowing down spending he appears to be the man.  He won't get too much support from that legendary cadre of moderates nor ambitious builders of bridges which bear their names which makes me less than optimistic.

Shadegg beat it to death.  Bottom line, he got money from one tribe trying to stop a new casino by another tribe (really short form).  He voted against the casino, not because of the contribution, but because he's been on the record against Indian Gaming since his first statement on the issue.  He has NEVER voted to support IG.  The issue went away in a day.

Shadegg is as close as it gets to squeaky clean.

What? by Conway

So Shadegg is against IG, but still accepts money from casinos?  Sounds strange to me.  MSM will have a field day with that.
