According to Rassmussen Reports 27% of Americans believe that the hunting accident involving Dick Cheney raises serious questions about his ability to serve as Vice President. Twice as many, 57%, say it was "just one of those very embarrassing things that happens to all of us."
So what does this say about the MSM if they play this into the ground over other stories like the Saddam Tapes?
The Sheriff of Sarita, TX has closed his case and will not file charges against cheney.
Any bets how long it will take the Kos kids to cry conspiracy?
Now if Scott McClellan shot David Gregory in the face following some stupid question, that would be real news.
Helen Thomas too, although in her case any blow to that melon would be an improvement.
It's Texas, Rove, Halliburton.
Full Disclosure, I once drove through I-40, and also attended a wedding in Dallas last year. I do have my Secret Rove Mind Ray Decoder™
I agree it doesn't raise question about his job. But would hardly say it's one of those things that would happen to any of us. Hopefully, hunters are far more careful and respect the danger a loaded gun (all guns are loaded) much more than that.
It does show irresponsible gun ownership, which I hate to see representative of someone who is a public supporter of gun rights.
. . . for Vice President Cheney to do a PSA on the dangers of mishandling a loaded firearm. Seriously could you imagine the value of having the Vice President saying "don't make the same mistake I did, I got lucky but someone could have died" in educating other hunters, particularly the young ones?

Would it have been any better if it was Michael Moore or Rosie O'Donnel that shot somebody?
Anyway, I think the "just one of those very embarrassing things that happens to all of us" part is not hunting accident specific. It could just as easily be applied to traffic accidents. Being involved in a traffic accident is also embarrassing. It doesn't mean they can't be avoided or that it is nobody's fault when it does.

comes through again.
