Welcome Josh Bolten

“Mr. Bolten has been a forward thinker and we welcome him to the job.”
Andy Card has served the President well for more than five years. We cannot, however, say that he has served conservatives or the Republican party well. He is, among other things, fingered as the man behind the Harriet Miers nomination that caused a fracture in the base and emboldened conservatives to fight the President. He also deserves some blame for the mishandling of the Dubai Ports Deal.
Rumored for a month, it is about time Mr. Card resigned. We are looking forward to Mr. Bolten's tenure in the office of White House Chief of Staff. Mr. Bolten has been in the Office of Management and Budget where he has privately been a reasonable voice willing to control spending. We have been disappointed with the budget process as led by the White House, but we understand that Mr. Bolten favors more restraints and executive action to control and cut spending than Mr. Card ever did.
The President appears to have listened to those who think the White House needs new blood and new ideas. Mr. Bolten has been a forward thinker and we welcome him to the job. While the President suffers from lame duck syndrome and a stagnant administration at present, we should remember that at this point in his administration, Reagan was the same way. He then picked a new Chief of Staff, turned a corner, and revitalized his Presidency.
We hope for the same from President Bush.

I have been disgusted with the rope-a-dope strategy since the last election. It has put Bush in an unenviable political position that Clinton never would have allowed himself to get into to. Card is part of the reason, despite his long service. We need a fighting President.
I can't help but think that when Condi mentioned the importance of the Saddam Hussein documents on the Timmy Show, we had turned a corner. The President had made the decision that it was time to get out the baseball bats....
Seriously, the state needs help.
Bush has said he wasn't going along with those calling for a shake-up. Bolton isn't new blood, he is part of the administration. Why can't we just accept what the president said about the resignation? I really doubt this is a response to his critics.
God Bless Andy Card. He's had a thankless job for over five years now and I think he's done a great job. I hope he runs for office. He's a really great guy.
I think we'll see a lot more of Andy during Mitt Romney's run for President.
Blame for philosophical/political abandonment of core principles -- McCain-Feingold comes to main -- rests with no one else but the President.
Card is the administrator, the guy who manages, not the source of vision or direction within the Administration.
BTW, by everything I've heard, he's also a good guy.
Isn't Andy Card from South Carolina?

Predictable criticism form the minor leader of the Senate and the unctious schumer.
May Bolten revitalize the West Wing as much as he can, so that Schumer and Reid can finally begin to get the thrashings they deserve.
And I'm pretty sure that Card was living in Massachusetts before he was asked to help the president.

But we need our president to move away from the democratic view on illegal immigration. He needs to rejoin his own party on a lot of issues.
I think George W. Bush has been the best democratic president since lyndon johnson. Why the democrats and the left demonize this guy is beyond me. They should be kissing his feet. He has moved their agenda forward like no one since lyndon johnson and the great society.
As for conservatism, it has taken hits from its "friends" that it man never be able to overcome. At least with Card gone, one of those "friends" is out of the way.
