So, let me get this straight, Jerome Armstrong.

Osama bin Laden's rise? Not due to the aftereffects of the first phase of the Gulf War, the invasion of Afghanistan by either the Soviet or British empires, the flaws inherent in the League-era Mandates, the rise of the Wahabbi sect of Islam, the loss of al-Andalus, any of the umpteen Crusades, the development of Islamic culture, the conflicts with Christendom or the Persian Empire or the Mongols... or even that unfortunate 1987 incident in Tunisia that OBL had involving that transvestite hooker from Omaha. Oh, they might have had something to do with events, but they weren't the primary trigger. The primary trigger, according to you, was the discovery of the Kuiper Belt in 1992?

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP:

Astrologer Jerome Armstrong notes that Ixion and Quaoar are following close in Pluto's wake in early Sagittarius, and connects the rise of the political version of religious fundamentalism with the astronomical exploration of the Kuiper Belt in 1992. He cites incidences as disparate as the rise of Osama bin Laden onto the world stage and the Republican Revolution of 1994, fueled by Christian fundamentalist voters and culminating now with all three branches of government in Republican control. In addition, he cites the ascendance of political Hinduism in India in 1996 with the election of the BJP. One might add to this list the emergence of Conservative majorities in Israel and the UK.

Update [2006-6-23 13:54:33 by Moe Lane]: Embarrassingly, I forgot a rather apropos quote:

A touchstone to determine the actual worth of an "intellectual" -- find out how he feels about astrology. - Robert Heinlein

Update [2006-6-23 13:20:26 by Thomas]: Y'know, the great thing about this is, it's the gift that freaking keeps giving. Thus, is Mark Warner really employing someone who -- it appears -- made stock predictions (and perhaps political predictions?) based on whether Jupiter is in the Seventh House? Is that yutz Sherrod Brown actually paying money for what one would -- assuming this is correct -- guess are pieces of political consulting reached through a Magic Eight Ball? And -- yes, I'm savoring this -- does this add to, or displace, the Svengali-Kos meme that's been developing lately?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Update [2006-6-23 13:34:43 by Thomas]: Just like Pringles, once you pop, you can't stop. May I suggest that there never again be any shots taken at Nancy Reagan by the (not-so literal) moonbats? After all, she was at least sometimes right. (I leave to the side that she stood by her husband to the end, as I'm sure human decency doesn't enter their equation anyway.)

Update [2006-6-23 15:33:00 by Leon]: Thanks to Josh Trevino for the nifty image.

Read on.

We can tell that "Astrologer Jerome Armstrong" is the same guy because the author of the article concludes:

The author wishes to acknowledge the help and inspiration provided by astrologer and author Jerome Armstrong of AstroWorld.mydd.com for information and links regarding Varuna and Trans-Neptunians which have been vital to the preparation of this article.

All of this via Dan Riehl, and he's just getting warmed up. I'm going to let my colleagues have a crack at this themselves, but let me tell you something, Jerome: next time, just tell us why you have problems with a particular US policy. If putting Venus in Scorpio instead of in cusp with Mercury would have erased our troubles, don't you think that we would have done it? It'd be ever so much cheaper than fiddling with Diebold machines.

Nuke Neptune!

Seems fitting.  He is second to Kos.  And, he apparently has a thing for the stars.

This could go two ways for Jerome.  He will either become a used car salesman, or he will be elected to Congress in California.  Where the smart people live.

Gentlemen, I'm afraid that this is no laughing matter: our grip on the nutcase vote is now less secure than ever. This pivotal swing bloc is quickly rushing into the outstretched arms of the democrats, and the astrology and psychics union has deep pockets. We need to fight back now, while the moon is still in Waxing Gibbous

Same joke within a few moments. I take it all back! Save me St. Jerome!

" After all, she was at least sometimes right. (I leave to the side that she stood by her husband to the end, as I'm sure human decency doesn't enter their equation anyway.)"

is an understatement of cosmic proportions when applied to Neil, er, Jerome Armstrong.

...wow.

Words fail me.

In lieu of them, I offer up Moe's Heinlein quote, which is the first thing that popped into my head anyway upon reading the lede.

The world events are not being guided by astrological events but by astrologers and psychics.  With today's mass media the astrologist and psychics have banded together to rule the world.  They do this by feeding suggestions that certain things will happen no matter what.  Just plain old reverse psychology.

Although personally, based on what I've seen posted at Kos, they seem more of the "Number Two" variety.

Aren't these the  same people that have a problem with a competing theory to evolution being taught ? Their reason being that its unscientific ??

I have always said that neither side of the evolution debate was engaging in science in that both feel that their pet ideas should be treated as holly writ. But this is delightfull as the left has been doing more to destroy science than anyone since Stalin mandated Lysenkos theories of biology or the kansas state legislature tried to set the value of pi at 3.1 .

The left really is operating not on "do as we do", or "do as we say" but "Do as we want you too because we are more compassionate and intelligent no matter how freaking nuts what we want is"

Ex NYT editor Howell Raines "The One that Got Away". He attacks FOX and said they make up the news. If I remember correctly isn't that what he was fired for (only because he was caught)? Who reads this fallacious propaganda anyway? Aliens?

Perhaps he should check his astrology chart.

I tried it.

And, if you want to see the significance of Varuna at work in the mundane world. Look at it's connections with George Bush, 9/11, and the Republican chart, in event, transit, and progression. Look at Varuna with Kennedy's assassination-- this is a paradigm tipping-point energy at work. Varuna is a body that is on the same 'energetic' playing field as Pluto. Awakening this supra-unconciousness of the trans-Neptunians as their own group, instead of just co-opting Pluto from the bunch and calling it a day, is gonna take some work; but hey, that's where the enlightenment resides.

On predicting voter turnout

We might have a surprise.

That's what astrologer Jerome Armstrong says we'll see today, a surprise that's been brewing below the radar: that women voters will pour out to the polls today, while men will be inclined to stay home, for reasons only an astrologer might understand (so I've edited them out here):

Bush and the rulers (in) power could be pierced by something that seems trivial in (its) simplicity, that triggers larger events to occur. Simply put, men will not turn out to vote in near the numbers that women will this election....

Ceres and Venus are representative of younger, and especially feminine energies in the mundane election analysis;... they are holding a secret, their voice has seem(ed) stifled, and their vote will be a secret from Bush & the media...

No one knows how big the vote is, until after it happens, surprising the media, and shifting control of Congress.

It's an angry vote. The dissatisfaction with the economy is there; but the Sun-Moon's conjunction in the 7th, where the Rx Venus/Mercury conjunction is also, points towards the threat of war as a strong motivation.

This is one to watch for while you're watching TV tonight.

On explaining election results:

Varuna is 900 km (550 miles) in diameter and has an orbital period of 285 years. It was discovered 28 November 2000, coinciding with the contested election results in the USA (astrologer Jerome Armstrong has noted that the GOP has its natal Varuna at 19 Sagittarius, conjunct George W. Bush's South Node, which Pluto is currently transiting).

"A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity."

...no, no thanks needed: just consider it our little gift to the 'reality based community'.  :)
