Yahweh's terms for peace

Caught in the crossfire, news from Lebanon reports that scores of innocent civilians are being slaughtered needlessly. While the Middle East cauldron erupts anew with this latest skirmish between the Jews and Arabs, the world's talking heads in government and media are aghast and offended that Israel presumes to protect itself again from enemy aggression. In the midst of it all, may I humbly remind all the parties involved that there is really only One party's view that makes any difference.

Sure the IDF has an impressive record against conventional forces that have contested it.  And yes, if the end justifies any means, the asymmetrical warfare waged by the courageous Islamic warriors (who hide behind civilians) has been difficult to eradicate. But the Force that no one in their right mind should want to cross is that of...you guessed it --Yahweh. That's to suggest that the God of the Jews and Muslims is not one and the same -- unless of course He's at war with Himself, which pretty well sums up why peace has been so elusive between these estranged brothers.

And if you believe Yahweh's word can be trusted, you should know that He will soon resort to protecting His people without any help from Israel's so called allies, which according to prophecy presents a prospect considerably more horrific than what the Israeli government is proposing for terms of peace. And by the way, offended Muslims, dithering heads of government and even U.S. efforts to brow beat the Jewish people into a "cease fire" through shuttle diplomacy will be in vain if we're merely pushing for another brief respite before each side reloads.

Now I know this advice will fall on deaf ears, but I'm going to recommend it anyway. If the instigators of world terror and tyranny really desire peace, yes, they can start by silencing their weapons. But to take advantage of the Judeo-Christian custom of forgiveness (i.e. Israel fore-going its right to lay waste your countries), you must soon adopt the posture of a verifiable repentance from the use of terror. And the steps I would suggest, constituting evidence of a change in direction, would include:

  1. Recognize Israel's right to exist by expanding their borders to areas consistent with the size of the historic Davidic empire.

  2. The surrounding Islamic nations must then absorb disgruntled refugees unwilling to swear allegiance to the nation of Israel.

  3. Next, since Jerusalem is mentioned nowhere in the Koran, drop your claim and remove your mosque from the Temple Mount.

  4. Then, starting with the worst of the tyrannical regimes, renounce the use of terror by disarming militias and ending indoctrination.

  5. Follow this by opening your closed societies to free trade and democratic governance, to give your huddled masses a reason for hope.

  6. Next, divert the billions wasted in terror and weapons programs to rebuilding your national infrastructure in cities, universities, and industry.

  7. Finally, from this point forward, resolve to win the world to your way of life through goodwill, versus conversion compelled under threat of death.

Do this and you will withhold certain wrath, while enjoying the blessings of Yahweh. Forsake this advice, and you'll soon be dealing with our offended God's Son.

....but what about the Road Map to Peace?

I suggest titling it "Israel deploys Ark of Convenant!  F* YEAH!"

As a Christian I believe that all men (and women) are God's people, or at least all those who call on God's name as Lord. That includes the Jews, yes, but also the Middle Eastern Christians.
