John Brennan: Not A Serious Policymaker

"killing al Qaeda plays into al Qaeda's hands", or some such nonsense

Yesterday Haystack took issue with deputy national security advisor John Brennan and his rather silly assertion that criticism of Obama’s policy of allowing the United States to be used as a piñata by terrorists forwards the goals of al Qaeda.

While Haystack rightfully points out the utter hypocrisy of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and other democrats in their relentless hammering of the Bush Administration all the while professing their patriotism I think there is another point to be made here.

When Obama and his fellow travelers tried desperately to engineer American defeats in two wars, hamstring covert operations directed against terrorist organizations, and carry out a “slow bleed” of American forces in combat, they were acting as the domestic arm of al Qaeda for all intents and purposes.

Since Obama’s anointing last January, he has scrupulously avoided using the terms “win” or “victory” in regards to America’s wars. He has doubted that winning is possible as Emperor Hirohito is not available to sign a surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri (link provided for the benefit of those readers who think that *I* believe that Hirohito signed the surrender document) which was certainly encouraging to the men and women fighting in Afghanistan. His feckless management of the war in Iraq, subcontracting that responsibility to America’s Rain Man, Joe Biden, with no goal beyond a withdrawal of combat forces by this summer seems designed to ensure that Iraq will remain yet another suppurating sore in a region which desperately needs stable governments. One can only conclude that the Administration is staffed by idiots and geopolitical naïfs working under the direction of a man who believes all political difficulties can be overcome by blaming President Bush.

The difference between our criticism of Obama and the criticism directed by Obama against President Bush is this: Obama’s criticism was focused on ensuring American defeats in two wars and a curtailing of American power in the world. Our criticism is focused on ensuring that Obama cannot engineer defeats in two wars we are winning and on increasing American power.

If Mr. Brennan wants to make the case that our arguments for a more forceful policy in Afghanistan and bringing the war in Iraq to a successful conclusion plays into the hands of an apparently, in his view anyway, suicidal and self-destructive al Qaeda, then he’s welcome to do so. That lowers our burden of proof considerably when we assert Brennan is an idiot.

A few years back the Democrats did everything they could to tank the war in Iraq just so they could keep saying “the failed policies of the Bush administration” every chance they got. Harry Reid declared the war was lost and Nancy Pelosi was traveling to Syria on her own personal diplomacy mission where she made an ass out of herself by relaying promises for Israel that where never made.
Hillary Clinton belittled Gen. Petraeus in a Senate hearing as did the NYT’S with their “betray us” ad.
CBS made it their mission in life to make certain that you never forgot the words “Abu Grhaib” and deceased Rep. Murtha slandered the Marine Corp by calling some Marines blood thirsty killers.
Every single night Dan Rather would do his fallen heroes segment supposedly to honor the brave soldiers killed in combat but it was really to make the war taste sour to America by beating it innto their heads that the war was failing. During the 2004 election John “war hero” Kerry tried to portray George Bush as some sort of fool by citing the 350 tons or something of lost munitions as if he could have done better.
The Democrats were leaking national security secrets to the NYT’S as well.
I could go on and on.
Those people were absolutely despicable and they didn’t care who got hurt as long as it brought the power they felt was their birthright back to them and now they have the gall to complain about criticism of the President…..?
Oh god……I’m all pissed off now.
Next November I hope we can scrape some of those people off of America’s shoe.

..DID NOT sign the Articles of Surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri at any time!
Foreign Minister Shigomitzu, representing the Empire of Japan, did sign the Articles of Surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri, September 2,1945, as did General Umezu, representing the Japanese Imperial General Staff.
Just a note, no offense intended.

I believe not a single one of the Red Staters thinks Emperor Hirohito signed the surrender document on the Big MO. Therefore we all are potentially offended.

The trolls probably do think Hirohito signed the document, but even if they know history better than their Dear Leader, offending them is entirely appropriate.

Based on the contents of yesterday’s op-ed, I reached the conclusion that Brennan was yesterday’s talking points messenger.

al Qaeda is strengthened by criticisms that are obvious to the whole world?

It’s the substance of the criticisms that is strengthening al Qaeda.

That is just too, too good. But then my family tells me I have a weird sense of humor.

Brennan’s actions and non-actions are a disgrace. He is grossly incompetent and irresponsible.

What’s far worse than his incompetence is the lack of integrity to stand up to the even more incompetent group that is directing him to spin and distort in the way he is currently doing so…..the Obama administration.

I hate to make these kinds of comments about our NSA and our administration…but THEY are the true detriment to this country.

It would be nice if there were a Republican or two with even a smidgeon of courage to call the BS flag on this but, alas it is doubtful that the GOP will even be able to engage the failed Dem. Congress on the pathetic Dem. Care Bill.
    Brennan needs to resign?yesterday.

    Great post Streiff.

Right! Only in the diseased mind of a liberal.
Just another total contradiction and turnaround. File this one under the “Dissent is patriotic” category, It no longer is operable.
The libs can’t even bring themselves to use the word war and we are supposed to be giving the aid and comfort.

But they know who the enemy really is, they sit on the other side of the aisle in Congress.
    You can’t fool a liberal.

this guys idiocy doesn’t even make him a stand-out in this administration.
I’d like to ask a libiot if killing Americans a’la 9/11, or all their rhetoric is giving aid and comfort or rallyting Americans?

    • edintexas

To listing Shaw in quotations. One of the greatest Socialist Progressives of the 20th Century, among other things he believed those who don’t “contribute” at least their worth to society should be eliminated. Not exactly the sort of person Red Staters should be promoting.

      • JadedByPolitics

and it was shocking that so many quote him as a “great” man when he would truly be placed in the history books with Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc. I think though most people have been fed LIES about certain historical figures that they really don’t know who the enemy is because liberals in the school system have made the enemy the good! which is why CHAOS reigns in this most FREE of countries (for now)
