Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 Plan Not Shari’a Compliant

It was inevitable. Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and apologist for muslims extremism, has come out in opposition to Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan. According to The Hill:

“It’s like having three needles in your arm taking blood out. It’s much more dangerous than just one,” Norquist said on MSNBC.

Cain’s proposal would replace the current code with a 9 percent tax on all personal income, corporate income and sales.

Liberals have argued that the plan would be regressive — raising the taxes of the poor and middle classes, while lowering those of the rich — and inadequate to fund the federal government, while conservatives have warned that enabling the federal government to impose a sales tax would open up a new way for future generations to raise taxes on Americans.

“With the caveat that I understand this cry of rage that people have about the present structure and wanting to do something radically different, I’m much more comfortable taking the present mess and chipping away at it like an ice sculpture to get it down to what you want,” Norquist said.

Asked about the “intellectual heft” of Cain’s plan in light of the candidate’s refusal to name the members of his economic team, save Rich Lowrie, an accountant for Wells Fargo in Ohio, Norquist said that the next Republican president “doesn’t need to come up with ideas.”

If the plan is being attacked from the left, right, and Mecca it doesn’t mean that it has hit the sweet spot and is therefore doing something right. I could just mean the plan is doing a lot of bad things and the only argument is which one is worse.

you are reduced to quoting THAT guy?

…Norquist said that the next Republican president ?doesn?t need to come up with ideas.?

We already have a president without any ideas.

but even a stopped clock is right twice a day. His critique of the 9-9-9 silliness is spot on.

And I really mean that honestly. Not trying to score points or anything. I’m just really curious what plan you do support, since you hate the 999 Plan.

    Is it the Romney plan?

    Ryan plan? Rand Paul’s plan?

    Something else altogether?

I’m not running for president, or in the case of Herman Cain Perpetual Galactic Commander.

I’m simply pointing out the obvious fallacies in this plan.

In 1973 Britain instituted the VAT at a 10% rate. Today it is 20%. The top bracket of our income tax was 7% when it was passed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax_in_the_United_States#Federal_income_tax_rates

I am simply not in the favor of creating a new tax. The history of taxes is that they go up..

I’m all in favor of extensive reform of the existing tax code but again, my preferences aren’t being submitted to voters and I have no intention of allowing them to become a target for people who refuse to see the really huge danger in creating a new tax.
