Free Republic Bans Rombots And The World Rejoices

dialog is not pooping on your neighbors porch

Free Republic founder made some waves Monday when he told Politico:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. …

Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.

Good for him.

I’m not a Mitt Romney fan and recognize that he may very well be the nominee in November and I had approached this primary season philosophically: that is, if Romney won I would actively support him. I’d deceived myself into imagining that his campaign would not attract the same bunch of dishonest hacks he did in 2008.

I was wrong.

They are worse this year than they were in 2012.

The scam they are running this year is attempting to silence individual moderators by sending complaints to… wait for it… the moderators. I’m taking personal pride in the level of attention they are devoting to me because it means I am being successful in my job of preventing candibots from taking over the site.

Though RedState more likely than not will not take the extraordinary step of banning Romney supporters as we did Paultards it doesn’t mean it would be unjustified or even a bad idea. The Rombots should hope that the subject never comes to a vote by the moderators because they won’t like the outcome.

I think you meant, “They are worse this year than they were in 2007.”

    • streiff

they really came into their own in Jan-Mar 2008

I will admit to an error in judgement a couple of weeks before. I thought that the race was going to become a 2 person race between Cain & Romney. I assumed that if you were so harsh against Cain, that left a default of Romney. Thanks to this post, I realize that I made a very bad assumption. In private conversations I’ve said that if Romney is the nominee, I am going to have to wear a hazmat suit to the polls. I will fill in the bubble, but it will be worse than voting for Mccain.

Thank you for clarifying your thoughts!

I know you are not entranced w/Cain. I have to admit that his incoherence in several situations makes me question his judgement/leadership (he would not support Perry if Perry were the nominee, Abortion, muddled sexual harassment defense, China nukes, etc.).

According to the polling, Newt & Perry are the only other “viable” choices. How would you compare and contrast the two? Am I missing something?

  • jackdaniels11

    irrelevant.

I don’t know what their web traffic is like, but it’s got to be significantly down from where it was.

The founder of Free Republic should grow up. If he thinks that he can speak for other people, he’s wrong.

Mitt Romney is all of the following: pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, and pro-liberty.

I question the motives of the most vehemently anti-Romney people out there. This has got to be personal.

What are your thoughts of a man who strapped a dog on the top of his car for a 700 mile trip.
When at a stop, found the dog had crapped himself, hosed him down, and proceeded with him strapped to the roof of the car.
What are your thoughts on a man like that.

      • jackdaniels11

        Lucky there’s a man who
        Positively can do
All the things that make us

        Stewie: Laugh and cry!

        He’s.
        A.
        Family.
        Guy!!!

I get a chuckle out of this. It’s too bad the press didn’t try to track down the dog for comment.

(Brian: “Actually, I found the ride exhillerating. I would have preferred warm water, but no hard feelings there.”)

        • gekster

          You are truely blind.
Maybee we should do that to you.
Wait, no we can’t. It’s be kind to maroon week.
          Your off the hook.

          • acat

is a good or bad tipper?

Seriously. How someone treats animals and staff are very good indicators of character.

We know how Mitt treated his dog…

            Mew

          • jackdaniels11

You keep focusing on non-issues. The adults will be in the next room when you and gekster get done playing.

Seriously, dailykos.com needs you. You know their talking points better than they do.

They don’t care about Cain or Perry because those guys are weak sauce. They only care about the guy that Obama and his aides are focused on: Mitt Romney.

          • gekster

            It is you.
And every issue is relevent when someone is running for President.

          • jackdaniels11

Then we have to go into where Perry spent his vacations and what Cain said to his secretary.

You can do better than that.

          • jackdaniels11

I’m not saying that you are one.

But you’re using their talking points.

Who cares about what Romney did to his dog thirty years ago? Is the dog still alive? Great!

Are we really going to go there?

How did anyone find out about this anyway? This sounds like old family gossip.

The problem that the left has with Romney is that he is a Mormon. But they can’t say that this is their problem so they go to non-issues like whether or not he put a dog on the roof of his car.

If my dad ever ran for office, I could burn him on 100 dumb things he did as dad. That doesn’t make him a bad candidate. It means that sometimes dad’s aren’t perfect.

When you have five kids and you want to go on vacation, you have to do something with the family dog. Back in the day, there were a lot of big families that had to do things that would not be seen as “politically correct” if they landed on the front page of the New York Times.

Luckily, I’m bigger than to judge a guy based on a mistake he made 30 years ago and I know that Obama would be a fool to try and bring that up during a debate.

Mitt could come back with “Hey, 30 years ago, weren’t you a coke fiend?” See how Barry likes that one.

          • gekster

So he had enough money to ship his dog, get a bigger car,
            or any number of things.
It shows his poor judgement on basic things.
            But you excuse and spin.
            Thats all Romney supporters have.
            Excuse and spin.

          • jackdaniels11

If this is the best you can do, just quit.

You are clearly a bot. No one but a bot would make a coherent argument that Romney can’t be president because of something that he did 30 years ago that wasn’t illegal then and probably would not be a chargeable offense today.

The dog is fine. The kids got to go on vacation with their dog.

Just stop. You are focusing on non-issues because you have no candidate. You have the same position that the liberal left has: “Romney must not be the nominee.”

If you went on and on about any other front-running republican, you would have been banned by now for being a troll.

But since you are anti-Romney, you are providing a valuable service for the moderators who would like for bagmen like you to do their dirty work so that they don’t have to get their hands dirty while trashing Mitt Romney.

          • gekster

A search for “romney puts dog on top of car for trip”.

It is not ‘old family gossip.

          • jackdaniels11

            I’m dying to know.

Again, you sound like a liberal hack troll. I’m amazed that they let you run around this site.

          • acat

Mr. Daniels here has apparently committed himself to being banned.

I see no reason to continue arguing with him, so am changing the subject.

            Mew

          • gekster

Was waiting for the right time to use it.
Maybe sometime today, who knows. ;)

    • acat

Romney’s links to Kjellander to me.

It’s not personal, other than I’m not interested in giving my vote to an opportunist with no discernible political core values.

As the saying goes, you can have your opinions but not your facts.

Fact is, Romney may look like a great family man, strongly pro-life, pro-firearms, small-government guy on paper, but .. scratch beyond his rhetoric and it’s just that. Rhetoric. Mitt is all about Mitt, and this election we need to do better.

      Mew

      • jackdaniels11

But I’m warning you, this is a dumb line of attack for the anti-Romney crowd.

Romney has a supporter whose name is Robert Kjellander. Kjellander doesn’t work for Mitt Romney.

Kjellander was fingered by a guy named Stuart Levine in a federal corruption trial. Kjellander has not been convicted of anything. He has not been indicted. He is suspect of committing a crime that he may or may not have committed.

If you have some facts that show that Kjellander either (1) committed a crime or (2) works for Mitt Romney, let me know.

Otherwise, it’s just not an issue. Nice try, though.

        • acat

was proven to be linked to the Illinois Combine, a very bipartisan example of corruption.

Go ahead and explain that one.

          Mew

      • jackdaniels11

gekster will disappear from this site after the 2012 election.

Neither of you have a candidate. You’re just here to trash the presumptive GOP nominee.

After Romney locks up the nomination, you and gekster will cry, “I just won’t vote this year” in the hopes that you can steer a small number of Republicans away from voting.

Great job. Go back to dkos and tell them what a great job you’re doing.

        • gekster

          during the 2008 campaign.
They are gone, I am still here.
Shills don’t hang around, so when Romney looses the nomination, AGAIN, it is you who will be gone, Jack.

      • jackdaniels11

does not have to face a primary opponent this year, his liberal supporters have nothing to do but try to knock down the strongest GOP contender for Obama.

Thank you for reminding me of why I like Mitt Romney.

        • onemovoter

Debate on the issues. Gekster and Acat are strait up folks who have been here for a very long time. They have argued the issues with me and showed me wisdom and made me think over the years. That is something I really appreciate.

As far as Mittens, I’ve already seen the democrats already come out with ads that savage Mittens. They will have an easy time painting Mittens into a corner and make him out to be more like Obama while Obama tacks to the right.
