Obama shows no leadership on fight with ISIS

Earlier in the week the White House sent the low-wattage [mc_name name=’Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000148′ ] to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to ask the Senate to pass an authorization for the use of military force against ISIS. It has been clear from the start that Obama really doesn’t care about ISIS. He is concerned that his legacy, other than trashing the US economy and ruining every alliance the nation had or desired when he came into office, will be leaving office with troops in combat in Iraq.

When Kerry showed up to testify, unprepared would not begin to do justice to his cretinous performance. He literally provided no guidance on what the White House wanted done, or where and for how long it wished to do it. Essentially, in what has become a metaphor for the Obama administration, Obama wanted a blank check.

Leaving Wednesday’s closed briefing on the fight against the Islamic State, the terror group also known as ISIS or ISIL, [mc_name name=’Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000303′ ] said he doubted the Obama administration really wanted to have a new Authorization for Use of Military Force at all.

“They keep talking about the AUMF. They haven’t, they haven’t sent over anything. I’ve been involved in numerous of these crises where they send over a request for the authorization for the use of military force,” the Arizona Republican said. “You can’t believe they really want it if they don’t even send over a proposal.”

McCain is in line to take the gavel of the Armed Services Committee next year when Republicans take the Senate majority, while [mc_name name=’Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001071′ ], R-Tenn., is set to become chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Corker expressed a similar view.

“There isn’t a strategy yet, and I believe that’s the reason that they really have not pushed for an AUMF,” Corker said. “I’ve heard not a word from a soul. I’ve talked to [mc_name name=’Sen. John Kerry (D-MA)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’K000148′ ] multiple times. He’s never mentioned the AUMF. I’ve never had — gotten a word from the White House.”

“They’re not asking for an AUMF. When you ask for an AUMF, you explicitly ask for it and you typically send a draft as to what you would like,” Corker said. “The reason they haven’t come and explicitly asked for an AUMF is because they don’t have a strategy yet.

Committee Chairman, New Jersey Democrat [mc_name name=’Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’M000639′ ] took time out from researching the ins-and-outs of prostitution in the Dominican Republic to put together a resolution that passed on a strict party line vote. You know it has got to be screwed up when McCain will not go bipartisan. But wait, the White House is displeased:

The White House on Friday said it is concerned that a Senate measure on the use of force against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) would tie the president’s hands, including restrictions on the deployment of ground troops.

The legislation, which cleared the Senate Foreign Relations Committeee in a 10-8 vote with majority Democratic support, would not allow ground combat operations, except to protect or rescue U.S. soldiers and citizens. It also includes provisions allowing American troops to conduct intelligence operations, provide advice and assistance, or coordinate airstrikes from the ground.

Press secretary Josh Earnest described the language as “limiting the flexibility of the commander in chief in a way that we wouldn’t support.”

There is no longer any doubt. Obama is a blithering idiot who has surrounded himself with even more egregious idiots in order to make himself look smart. He provides zero guidance to the committee on a use of force resolution he has requested and then gripes that it is too limiting. Unfortunately, this has become his trademark: stupid ideas, stupidly executed. All we need now is a rain of frogs and the Potomac filling with blood and our first born struck down (that is sort of being done via Obama’s worship of abortion) and maybe our trials will be over.
