MEMBER DIARY

Redstate Diarists, please contribute your support for Governor Perry

Stay strong. Be steadfast in your principles.  This is the year we do not have to settle.  Write in your support at RedState on why you believe Governor Perry is the best GOP candidate for President .  Please ignore the early debate performances, the current ones are smashing and hitting homeruns, understand his transition to the national stage in a relatively short amount of time hit a few bumps, campaign missteps, whatever; none of which negates his long record of success in Texas and #1 job creation in the nation during a recession.  Yes he could tweak a bit here and there, all candidates have to at some point.  He has, he is.  His candidacy is just five months old.  Short time in the realm of politics.  Look at the record in Texas under his leadership.  That is what’s most important.

Creating a diary in support for Governor Perry is viewed by many people, whether commented upon or not, tweeted into the blogosphere, shared on Google forums.  Supporters of Perry cannot simply rely on the failed msm, they are pushing for a candidate that is extremely weak next to Obama in the fall.  Think about it, the anybody-but-Romney vote has won two primaries now, and scheduled to win another one in South Carolina. I refute the statement “Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line”.  Not this Texas voter~

          • daveoconnor

Congratulations on your Diary achievement. I meant to post earlier on this, but better late…One of the things I enjoy most about Redstate is getting to know conservatives (and their puppies)

        • texastaxpayer

Perry has the best record in the field. Unlike Willard Perry has done already most everything he promises. Let’s not settle this time. No more Mccains and Romney’s. Let’s send a real conservative with a record of HOPE and CHANGE….

          • westcoastpatriette

I will never stop supporting Perry no matter what any of his detractors say or do. He is clearly the best of the bunch and would be the most exciting president to watch bulldoze everything we hate about American politics today. Prayer changes things and can make the impossible possible, so keep on praying all you Christians….our freedom and our Republic is at stake.

Remember Benjamin Franklin’s words to the woman who asked him what the founders had wrought after ratifying the Constitution: “A Republic, maam, if you can keep it.” Come on, RedStaters, let’s keep it!

          • pttx333

ever be able to sway me from my support for Perry – only Perry could ever do that. What part of “Ya gotta name?” don’t folks get????

          • quiensabe

People of SC need to wake up and realize there is only one conservative candidate and that is Rick Perry. We cannot allow the GOP to pick our candidate and end up with another John McCain. People need to asked the question “why does Obama want to run against Mitt Romney” ?

          • jakeofalltrades

I absolutely cannot wait until the primaries are over.

          • lizzie

            and Perry is “game on!”

Man, we were all democrats in the South, but not anti-war left liberals.

Does anyone not realize that Perry having been a democrat is one reason he IS so electable?

60% of America wants a fiscal conservative who can rally confidence.

            about those first three debates?

as Griffin Perry Tweets: John 8:7.

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
            New Testament John 8:7

          • trevorb

the democratic party wasn’t what it is now. We’ll see how many of them Perry is able to win over between now and the 21st.

          • irishgirl

to contact the Perry campaign and phone bank for him in South Carolina! phonebank@rickperry.org. It’s pretty simple and you can do it from your home (with your computer). I’m starting my list in a.m. Join me!

    • expanding_man

He was my candidate. I accept he has no path to victory or even a respectable showing at this point. Happy to have him come back to working as my Govenor.

Can’t fault my fellow Perry supporters for sticking it out a bit longer and I wish them well.

      • unitedwestood

Game changer in the 11th hour. He compared himself to Obama for goodness sakes! How much better can it get then that! No wonder Obama and company want Romney to win the nomination so badly – he’s their mirror. How do you condem something you’ve done yourself… how do you draw a line in the sand if your on the same side of that line?!!

        • romansdaughter

The guy thinks he has it in the bag so now he is spouting. Rush is already all over that statement. Yep, he is just proving more and more why the LSM like him…he is Obama lite. I hope people wake up quick. I am a prayer warrior for Perry.

      • explodinghead

I am sadly, pretty sure that Perry cannot win in South Carolina at this time. Particularly, with hyperbole Limbaugh equating him with Fidel Castro! I think however, he and Gingrich have managed to expose the weakness of Mitt Romney and that is a good thing for Conservatism. Romney was Obama’s chosen one to run against and Bain Capital was the wedge issue. We have time to either diffuse that argument or move on to a stronger candidate. I am grateful that Perry has taken the slings and arrows, if it makes our eventual nominee one who can beat Obama.
I can still hope for a Tebow miracle, but realistically, I do not see it happening.

Have you ever been to an Aggie football game when the score was Aggies – Zero, opponent 100 (or so it seemed) during the last minute of the game? You’d still find the stands packed with Aggies. Almost no one had left, they all stayed to support their team to the end.

I will stay to the end in this race too and support my governor.

        • pttx333

who are staying to the very end for Perry! Welcome to the club!

Here’s my diary: We schmucks outnumber the self-appointed know-it-alls by at least 5 to 1 and we will be voting Perry.

  • michaelvcowan

    Yes!!!!

Be sure to include the following!!!

1986 Re-elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat

1988 Re-elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat

1988 Co-chaired the Democrat Al Gore campaign in Texas

1989 At age 39, switched from Democrat party to Republican party

    • texastaxpayer

At first I thought you were like for Rick Perry but then I was like” hey look at that list and stuff”… Then I was like “He must be like joking right?” and then I like saw the “NOT” and I was all like “DUDE YOU GOT ME” … yeah your so clever…. RIGHT???

      • michaelvcowan

….then just be honest enough to like his record.

He is a Democrat with an R by his name by his own admission!!

1989 At age 39, switched from Democrat party to Republican party

        • texastaxpayer

Reagan was the only republican my parents had EVER voted for at that point in time. The democratic party hadn’t gone off the rails at that point genius. Look at the electoral maps of the period. We all changed parties around the 90′s. Its not a Rick Perry specific phenominan. Of course you aren’t interested in the facts. You are only interested in discrediting Rick Perry.

YOUR ALL LIKE A LOSER AND STUFF…. RIGHT??

          • michaelvcowan

Me discredit?? That’s his record….dude. Long after he “became” a Republican.

          • Justin Spagnolo (standardcandle)

don’t you think you should be more worried about your own record?

          • texastaxpayer

            8 balanced budgets
1.6 billion dollar surplus this budget period
#1 job creation record in the country
            #1 Economy in the country
            Loser pays tort reform
            Medical malpractice tort reform
            Voter Id law
            Defunded Planned Parenthood
Largest Tax cut in Texas history
Largest budget cut since WW2 real dollars cut no budget gimmicks
            Rick Perry is the man…..
The boogey monster checks under his bed for Rick Perry before going to sleep….

          • michaelvcowan

…The Texas State Legislature is second to none. Good thing they had enough sway over Mr. Perry. I’d never presume that he’s only passed a liberal agenda because he hasn’t. He is undoubtedly a good man, but his record reflects enough of a liberal bias that it should give any clear-thinker pause.

He’s a good candidate. But the worst enemy of the best, is the good. Or so they say.

          • markus7

            Perry’s done.

He’s got two conservatives, Gingrich and Santroum,, who are polling way ahead of him in every state and that’s not going to change.

At this stage, a vote for Perry is a vote for Romney the most left-wing Republican in the party’s history.

          • daveoconnor

way off the rails in the 1980′s. Are you in favor of what LBJ foisted on us with “The Great Society”? The Democrats went Left for good in the 1930′s. Texas, like the rest of the former Confederate States of America was part of the “solid South”. Southern Democrats were in some ways more conservative than their northern counterparts. And they were also ardent segregationists for the most part. The history of Democrats in the south after 1859 when they split at the party convention is available to anyone willing to read it. Southern Democrats gave us Jim Crow and the Welfare State.

You show up with your first post on RS yesterday with the intent, apparently, to do nothing but bash Rick Perry. Then you end this post with ” … and they call Ron Paul disingenuous for running as a Republican.”

Which reincarnation of a former RS poster who has been banned are you?

          Pfffft on your twisted tales!!!!

          • michaelvcowan

            On Rick Perry’s record??

            Pick one.

As far as bashing Mr. Perry, I simply highlighted part of his record as Govenor. If bringing up a candidate’s record is bashing, then perhaps you may want to investigate a new Candidate.

I don’t remember hiding anything. Is that a topic for this particular forum? What’s the relevancy to Rick Perry’s record?

        • Trubador

I’m 48. Was a registered (D) from age 18 thru 29. Even though I was a (D) I was a big fan of Reagan. Was only 17 in 1980, but voted for him in ’84.

My last vote as a registered (D) is in the ’92 primaries. I voted for Jerry Brown for two reasons: a) to try and stop Clinton, and b) because Brown (at the time) was the only democrat espousing a flat tax.

I’ve voted in every primary and main election since I became eligible to vote, in both PA and (since ’94) in CA. And I’ve voted with the same convictions every time.

’84 – Reagan (proudly, in the main)
’88 – Bush Sr. (proudly, in the main)
’88 – Santorum for PA Senate (proudly, in the main)
’92 – Bush Sr. (begrudgingly, in the main)
’94 – Santorum for PA Senate (proudly)
’96 – Dole (begrudgingly – he threw us a bone with Kemp)
’00 – Bush Jr. (he threw us a bone with Cheney)
’03 – Tom McClintock for CA governor (CA’s recall election, no AH-nold vote here)
          ’04 – Bush Jr. (begrudgingly)
’08 – McCain (begrudgingly – he threw us a bone with Palin)

I am sick and tired of holding my nose to vote for presidential candidates post-Reagan. Settling for B.S. candidates who either promise to govern one way, then change course once in office (Bush Sr, & Bush Jr.), or who are weak, moderate, liberal, old, untrustworthy but think they can buy my vote for a more appealing VP candidate (e.g., Kemp, Palin, Cheney, and whomever Romney will toss out to us).

I’m just NOT going to do it anymore. I’m just not.

I’ve towed the line for too long.

I’m tired of it – the fixed, front-loaded primaries, the biased media, the party infighting, the non-conservative policies and candidates, the flip-flopping, the constant excessive government spending, regulations and intrusions.

And it will NEVER change until we get leaders who are common sense, constitutional conservatives.

And I will NOT vote any more for the likes of Romney, Newt, McCain, Dole, Bush Sr, Bush Jr… NO MORE!!!

when I saw Aaron’s post on Twitter “it just blows me away why we’re not supporting this guy” with the Champion video link, I cried. The negative things I hear are his Texan and his accent, country not ready for another Governor from Texas, he’s forgetful at times, etc.

I cannot believe that folks would care where a candidate is from so long as the record is strong and successful. These same folks want a rehearsed robot that will say anything to get elected, and probably will since we are such a stupid nation. Ha, the irony of that!

      • duramater

despair sometimes when I read or listen to comments by prospective voters. But I also realize that their shallow reasoning for rejecting Gov Perry as well as their glib and naive basis for supporting other candidates is mere regurgitation of opinions expressed by those with the loudest microphones and biggest soap boxes.

It is disheartening that so many Americans seem to have become so intellectually lazy that they willingly abdicate their power and surrender their judgement to voices on the airwaves or are beguiled by personalities. After all, this is how our country was cursed with Pelosi and Obama in 2006 and 2008.

However, the power of our own voices on the internet, social media and most importantly on the street is bolstered by resolve and reasoned exhortations and cannot be diminished so long as we speak boldly and with conviction at every opportunity. Truth will resonate with those who possess the capacity to reason. The rest are unreachable anyway.

I still have faith in the persuasive influence of interpersonal interactions, even exceeding that of internet pundits or popular media personalities. Keep your powder dry, your facts on the tip of your tongue and ENGAGE.
