Aggressively Stupid: WaPo Attacks on Marco Rubio
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | October 21st at 09:42 AM |
The Washington Post published a ridiculous hit piece on Marco Rubio yesterday, claiming that “documents show” that Rubio had “embellished the facts” about his family’s history, specifically how they came to America from Cuba.
You can pinch your nose and read the article here.
Because Rubio’s family emigrated to America from Cuba in 1956, and Fidel Castro did not officially take power until 1959, writer Manuel Roig-Franzia claims that Rubio should not be able to say he is part of the Cuban exile community, and accuses Rubio of exaggerating his family’s history for political gain.
I have decided I will not call this article journalistic malpractice, because that would imply that what Roig-Franzia published yesterday was journalism, instead of an egregious attempt at character assassination. Roig-Franzia’s belligerent distortions of history makes him a prime candidate to create the next campaign video for Alan Grayson (of “Taliban Dan” fame).
The Washington Post and Manuel Roig-Franzia (as well as whichever blind and ignorant toad of an editor approved that article) owe Rubio a huge apology.

Marco Rubio and Florida’s Primary Date: Are We Looking at the Wrong Conspiracy?
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | October 17th at 05:24 PM |
Judge for yourself: what makes more sense? That some D.C. staffer has some dark and nefarious power over Florida politicians he’s never even met, and Rubio psychically predicted over five years ago that he would be a vice presidential contender? Or that a group of political operatives with an axe (or two) to grind would spread a false rumor?

Marco Rubio: America Should Stand Up For Religious Freedom in Iran
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | September 30th at 04:11 PM |
My Senator, Marco Rubio, is currently in Libya as part of the first Congressional delegation to visit since the Qadafi regime was deposed. Senator Rubio has been speaking out more in foreign policy topics recently and yesterday, National Review posted his op-ed on the subject of religious and political oppression in Iran.
Rubio highlights the plight of a Christian pastor named Yousef Nardarkhani, who is facing execution for abandoning Islam and refusing to recant his Christian faith:

Reality check on George LeMieux’s “conservative” voting record
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | September 21st at 07:23 AM |
Let me ask you a question: when you were a child, did you ever sneak a cookie from the cookie jar? You waited until your mother had left the kitchen, right? No kid is dumb enough to try and swipe a cookie while Mommy is watching.
In essence, LeMieux’s claims of a conservative voting record are the equivalent of attempting to get praise for not stealing cookies while Mommy is watching.

Ed Schultz Calls Marco Rubio “Stupid” – Seriously?!
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | September 3rd at 08:39 AM |
Just in case there was any doubt that liberal and conservative brains are different, here comes MSNBC’s Ed Schultz to remind you. As you may have heard, my Senator, Marco Rubio, gave an incredibly moving speech at the Reagan Library about a week and a half ago. (If you haven’t seen it yet, click here.) Normal people and journalists watched that speech and felt that it | Read More »
FL-SEN: Something’s Rotten in the State of Denmark
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | August 29th at 03:53 PM |
…We can only assume that LeMieux thought that propping up McCalister would damage his primary rival Adam Hasner, as McCalister and Hasner battled for conservative votes, but now, LeMieux must abandon this charade.
LeMieux owes an apology to the Stolen Valor Task Force and to all the veterans who were brave enough to come forward to tell the truth about McCalister.
These veterans did not deserve to be slandered by someone who was a United States Senator, and someone who seeks to hold that office again should have known better.

Strange bedfellows in the Florida Senate race
By: SunshineStateSarah (Diary) | August 24th at 08:27 PM |
Mike McCalister owes Floridians answers about his ties to Doug Guetzloe and his true intentions in the the 2012 Senate race.
He also owes the many people who have worked hard to support the tea party movement in Florida an explanation why he would have anything to do with a man who has worked so hard to undermine their efforts.
