This has Absolutely Nothing to do with Politics….

However, it is probably one of the funniest videos that I’ve ever seen in my life.  Besides, I thought that it would be nice for us all to take a time out from the soul-sucking seriousness of this whole stimulus/porkulus bill and enjoy a good laugh (consider this an open thread).

Oh, and by the way, none of you better use “I love Jesus, but I drink a little” as your signature line–that one belongs to me.  ;-)

I LOVE that picture. If you have the time, would you please put in in my TMR diary as well? It would fit perfectly.

Since you liked that one, here’s another video that’s also hysterical. It’s called “David after Dentist”. Enjoy! :-)

If you’d like to watch something else that’s really funny (on a number of levels, and more than a little creepy also) have a look at Bill Gates at this year’s TED conference.

First he unleashes mosquitos on the audience and shows a bunch of graphs demonstrating how malaria was virtually eliminated in wealthy (first world, market-based) countries. Then he browbeats bald white men and says the market doesn’t work. But that’s not the best part:

At 15:35 or so in the presentation, as part of his talk about how to reform education in America, he actually takes a shot at teacher’s unions (but doesn’t name them, that would be gauche):

“In the teacher’s contract it will limit the number of times the principal can come into the classroom. Sometimes to once per year, and they need advance notice to do that. So imagine running a factory where you’ve got these workers, some of them just making…crap, and the management is told, ‘Hey, you can only come down here once a year, but you need to let us know, because we might actually fool you and try and do a good job in that one brief moment.”

Whew! I wonder why the market isn’t working in those schools, Bill? Maybe we’ll be the next third world. Then Bill Gates will be telling us all how market-based reforms are needed in American education. Or maybe he already is. Or something. It’s a mystery.

Watch it yourself starting at 15:35, here.

And I note in passing that I’ll be the millions of high-school dropouts in America love their XBox 360′s, Bill.

      That video is awesome.

If people are curious, Gates starts ragging on bald men and then dumps mosquitoes on the crowd from 4:17 –5:40 in the video that Alex linked to. Then, at 15:35, he takes a shot at the teachers unions (as Alex previously stated).

Gladys was hilarious. Reminded me of one of my great aunts and a little Florence King mixed in there, too. America’s a great country, just for the humor. That’s why we need to save it. :)

  • Susannah

Sorry to show my ignorance here, but who is Florence King? Just curious.

I thought that I had hit “reply to this”.

American Conservative of the whipsmart sort, frighteningly bright, hilariously funny, edgy before edgy was appropriated, democratized and marketed to the masses so that every slacker with a bad haircut and a publicist could do it.

Tough to categorize, but Old school book smart, in the Bloom & Hirsch tradition. Gravitas with a switchblade and a fountain pen. National Review, NRO, and of course, one of my personal favorites and my introduction to her Reflections in a Jaundiced Eye.

I bought that book in Greenwich Village, NYC of all places. Sit down, mix yourself something stiff, put the gun down, and read it. :)

I really “DON’T LIKE” this degenerated homo. She thinks she’s kool but she’s definitely NOT.
