Lawrence O’Donnell is a Few Fries Short of a Happy Meal.

Yesterday on MSNBC, Lawrence O’Donnell had Representative John Culberson (R-TX) as a guest on Hardball. O’Donnell began the interview by rudely sneering at Culberson, and then seemed to go into a trance and began shouting the same questions over and over at Culberson, and then refused to let Culberson answer any of his questions. And, if this whole scenario wasn’t strange enough, O’Donnell was repeatedly asking Culberson how he would have voted on Social Security in 1935 and on Medicare in 1965. When Culberson kept repeatedly saying that he would have voted “yes” on both programs (and Culberson tried to remind O’Donnell that “it is 2009”), O’Donnell not only kept shouting over Culberson and repeatedly asked him the same questions (as if Culberson had refused to answer them and O’Donnell didn’t seem to notice that he already had), but then he also started screaming that both programs were “socialist programs”. Well, at least liberals now finally admit that they really do love socialism, but I digress (however, we were considered evil “racists” if we even dared to point out that Barack Obama might have socialist tenancies). And then, when Culberson finally had enough of O”Donnell’s little trip to Crazytown and smacked him down by saying, “This is why MSNBC is in the tank, because you won’t let your guests answer any questions”, O’Donnell childishly resorted to calling Congressman Culberson a “liar” based on absolutely no evidence at all (see embed below).

But hey, we all know that name-calling is the default position of most liberals—see Nancy Pelosi and “Nazis”, Charles Blow and “hooligans”, Harry Reid and “evil-mongers”, and the DNC and “The Mob”, just to name a few.

Anyway, Lawrence O’Donnell’s unbalanced behavior on yesterday’s edition of Hardball shouldn’t really surprise anyone, because he’s been shaky pudding for some time now. Hey, blast from the past—remember this hate filled, bigoted, anti-Mormon rant that O’Donnell went on over a year ago in regard to Mitt Romeny’s speech about his faith? He basically stated that all Mormon’s are “racists”. Again with the name-calling.

[Just a thought—maybe the reason why Lawrence O’Donnell wants socialized medicine so badly, is to pay for the team of psychiatrists, and all of the medications, that he is so obviously in need of, but I digress.]

Oh, and one more thing. Hey liberals, do you want to know why you are so badly losing this health care debate? It’s not just that you don’t have the facts on your side, but it’s also that you are OBNOXIOUS and so no one can stand to listen to you all anymore. You see, I’m sincerely trying to help you out here. Help me to help you by knocking off the shouting and the name-calling—or you can continue to act like children and keep losing this debate. Oh wait–nevermind. What was I thinking? I don’t want socialized medicine. Scratch that previous sentence and keep up the obnoxious behavior liberals—you’re doing a heckuva job!

The man is a raving imbecile. I first took note of him during his meltdown while refuting a swiftboater with his childish tirade where all he could think of to say was, “You lying, lying, liar, liar, liar, lying liar…”

He continues to impress with his intellectual prowess. He really knows how to refute arguments.

This is why the Republicans should consider a "boycott strategy" against MSNBC and CNN, at least, and perhaps also

ColdWarrior Saturday, August 15th at 10:26PM EDT (link)

against ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN to change the debate. The debate should be about the fact that these networks give fawning, kid gloves coverage to Democrats and treat Republicans in the opposite manner and very rudely to boot. Where is it written that Republicans have to appear on thise shows? With the new internet technologies, and Fox, and talk radio, the Republican Party does not need these shows. Culberson said as much to O’Donnell.

Yet the Republicans continue to go back. And most do poorly. I thought Culberson did pretty well under the circumstances, but most don’t do this well. Culberson kept his cool and allowed O’Donnell to look like the horse’s behind he is. But, not all do as well. So, as long as the Republican Party sends people onto these one-sided programs without the necessary debating skills, they should consider a reasoned, well-explained boycott.

I suggested the following idea to McCain at a meeting with precinct committeemen about two months ago. He said he does not appear on MSNBC. (I don’t know if that is actually true — I would like to take his word, but I can’t. Sorry.) But even though he thought in the case of MSNBC his personal boycott was a good idea, he didn’t think the others were bad enough to boycott. I disagree, but will concede that the others are not as stridently biased as MSNBC. So maybe just start with MSNBC and CNN. Let Overbite, Chrissy Mathews, Rachel M., Wolf Blitzer, Norah O’Donnell, Anderson Cooper and Campbell Brown continue their love fests with the Debtocrats. The polticial children can swim in the shallow end of the poltical pool, the political adults wil swim in the deep end of the pool on Fox and on Rush, Levin, Hannity, etc. and have polite, reasoned discussions about real issues and not about “gotcha” questions about whether, in this case, someone would have voted for socialistic programs like Social Security and Medicare.

The Republican Party should tell the American people WHY they are staying off these one-sided, slanted programs. Because the hosts are horribly biased and tend to shout down the Republicans. Explain that they want to get their message out on “fair and balanced” outlets and that they will stay off these programs until they receive assurances in writing that in the future they will be treated in a “fair and balanced” manner, in the same manner that Debtocrats are treated. Meanwhile, they will only go on the only demonstrably “fair and balanced” news network, Fox. As Culbertson explained, the Party should go on an offensive and actually use Facebook and e-mail and the other interent outlets, such as YouTube channels, to get their viewpoints out to the American people.

Imagine Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc. without any Republicans on it. And the hosts having to explain why the Republicans refuse to come on.

And then the Republicans explaining at press conferences and on Fox and elsewhere that they could not get in writing from these networks that they would treat Republicans in a “fair and balanced” manner. Put the burden on the biased networks to pledge in writing they’ll at least attempt to be “fair and balanced.” Remember, Chrissy Matthews said it is his job to help Obama succeed!?

Gee, the Republican Party with a strategy. I can dream, can’t I?

Seriously, the Congressman himself said it: “Nobody watches MSNBC.” That’s the point. Why bother with them?

I know, some will say, “Oh, but Republicans will appear cowardly.” No. Not if it’s done right. The public holds the news media in lower regard, I think, than the Congress. If not, their rankings are both pretty low. The Republican leaders would have to have a very calm, reasoned explanation that it makes no sense, in these perilous times, have their alterntives to the Debtocrats ignored and spun by the biased elements in the media. The American people deserve better. So, the Republicans will offer their ideas only through “fair and balanced” news outlets and directly to the people via the internet.

My premise is that the Republican Party has leaders that actually think about strategies for getting their message out. I know I probably need to “check my premises” — first, that the Party has leaders, and second, that they actually attempt to come up with strategies.

Oh well. I’ve seen more backbone displayed by “average Americans” at the town hall meetings challenging their congresscritters face-to-face than I’ve seen in years and years of observing Republicans in Congress.

Thank you.

Anyway, I thought that we needed to expose what a biased, hate-filled, nutty jackass Lawrence O’Donnell is, so that Republicans won’t walk into the lion’s den any more.

Take is one step further, ColdWarrior:

Achance Sunday, August 16th at 1:42PM EDT (link)

Do Republican pressers in Republican markets. Nobody in NYC, DC, or LA is ever going to vote for a Republican. Almost no reporter in either of those places is ever going to be fair with a Republican. Why subject ourselves to them? Republicans take their actions and make their news in places where people vote for them or are likely to vote for them, not in places where they are hated.

Local and regional stations have to be more fair with them because they need to sell ads and papers and they don’t last long flying in the face of their market. This is just another example of the Potomac Fever that infests our elected officials; once elected, they forget to dance with who brung them and start lusting after the trollops on the Georgetown circuit.

That is a great point.

It’s not that conservatives need to boycott watching these guys.

If I understand ColdWarrior; the question is why Republican politicians allow themselves to go be smeared by Democrat party operatives on national TV.

As Culberson pointed out; most “regular people” type conservatives stopped watching smear TV a long time ago.

Let's just go completely snarky.

Flagstaff Thursday, August 20th at 2:06AM EDT (link)

My premise is that the Republican Party has leaders that actually think about strategies for getting their message out. I know I probably need to “check my premises” — first, that the Party has leaders, and second, that they actually attempt to come up with strategies.

You’re also guessing that they try to think.

At one time I would have agreed with a boycott. Now, I’d prefer that the interviewees go on air with knowledge of tactics to turn the lefties’ craziness back on them, sort of like verbal jiu jitsu. I admire Congressman Culberson for sticking it out to the end. I might have called O’Donnell an idiot and left him with nobody to talk to about halfway through the segment. I wonder when he would have noticed he was talking to himself literally as well as figuratively.

Back to strategy and tactics. I used to get peeved at Bill O’Reilly because he didn’t call out the libs who wouldn’t answer his questions; wouldn’t get off the Dem talking points. Yet, he would let them spin after a while. In fact, his is sort of the direct opposite of O’Donnell’s approach. I no longer disapprove of Bill’s manner of treating his guests. His spinning guests are always obvious. He doesn’t have to call them “liars,” as O’Donnell seems wont to do.

He has always said that the viewers can see what is happening for themselves. I now agree. If you aren’t drunk on Kool-Aid, it’s obvious that it was O’Donnell who went over the cliff.

Anyway, far better for ‘Pubs to make the questioner look uninformed or just plain biased and let the public decide for itself who is right. Culberson did it by trying to keep O’Donnell on the subject. When O’Donnell didn’t like the answers he was getting, he tried to change the subject. Culberson commented civilly on what was happening, and it made O’Donnell look foolish. Calling a guest a liar is definitely bad form.

It used to drive me crazy, wondering why O’Reilly or some of the other commentators on Fox would not “call them out” or stop the spin. the stuff pouring from the guests mouths was so bizarre and dishonest, I couldn’t stand for them to get away with it. Then I sat back and decided if I could see how disingenuous the guests were being, then maybe others could too. In the more flagrant of the spots, one could almost laugh. I say “almost.”

And I do remind myself, it is after all a business, and if those guests get ground into the dirt, they won’t go on the shows. So, let them show themselves for the mean and nasty idiots they are.

What GC has been saying for years re How GOP needs to respond to the FACTSthat Soc Sec and Medicare are socialism and why simply calling

Mike gamecock DeVine Sunday, August 16th at 2:40PM EDT (link)

what liberals want to do is “socialism” is not sufficient and why I think the good congressman could have done a better job, although given O’Donnell’s temperment, I doubt anything but a punch in the mouth would have shut him up:

Republicans need to acknowledge that Soc Sec and Medicare are socialism programs that started out as part of a federal safety net for the truly needy that we support but that they need to be reformed.

That the issue is not purely whether something is “socialism” but also the size of same and the degree of its distortion of the wealth producing fre market and its effect on freedom.

That a modern industrial society should have a safety net to prevent homelessness of the elderly and medical acre for the truly needy is a given but that the expansions of soc sec and medicare from their original purpose doesn’t justify extending same to those less needy.

I think that Congressman Culberson tried to express exactly those ideas. It was awfully hard to hear him over the braying of Mr. O’Donkey.

Your comment is an excellent talking point, of which there are many on RedState and elsewhere, including at Town Halls. Has anybody tried to collect them for the benefit of our Republican candidates and spokesmen? They seem to have a very difficult time developing themselves, sometimes.

“Government takeover of health care.”

“Government option.”

“Border fence first.”

“Fix Medicare and the VA first.”

“It isn’t bad to try to help the very needy to survive.”

“The free market is built on competition.”

“The profit motive is the most powerful incentive there is to eliminate waste and reduce costs.”

“No bill is better than a bad bill.”

“Identify the problem before attempting to solve it.”

Used judiciously, they can help. Our spokesmen do need to understand the principles behind them, though.

In this video, Lawrence O’Donnell is “interviewing” (and I use that word generously) Peter Schiff, but he literally talks twice as much as him, perpetually interrupts him, and repeatedly puts words in his mouth. It is classic Lawrence O’Donnell–the only thing that’s missing is the shouting and the name-calling. Anyway, I thought that it was worth sharing and might serve as a good source of inspiration for the contest that Penguin suggested.

Agreed! -nt-

I don't think Larry O'Donnell is crazy

he’s just really mad that the whole healthcare idea is going down the tubes. He is angry because he worked for Moynihan in 1993-94 and he knows what it feels like for the Democrats to squander a large majority in congress.

I don’t think we should cut him some slack, he just hates it when he loses.

You could be right.....

Furthermore, being really angry can definitely make a person act crazy. :-)
