MEMBER DIARY

Liberal Indoctrination in the Public Schools Never Takes a Holiday–Not Even on GRADUATION DAY!!

As some of you may know, I have written previously, in great detail, about how prevalent liberal indoctrination of our children is in the public schools across America.

Wait, what’s that you say liberals? There is no liberal indoctrination of children going on in the public schools? OK—well then, I would like to kindly ask that you please take a look at a Live Wire that I recently wrote that had videos of and links to multiple stories about children being told that drawing the American flag is “offensive”, children being sent home from school for wearing the American flag, children being browbeaten by teachers for saying that they supported John McCain, children being forced to draw pro-Obama campaign art, and, finally, children being forced to chant accolades to “The One” (“MMM—Barack Hussein Obama”).

Oh, and for those of you who still aren’t convinced, I would also like to remind you of a recent diary that I wrote titled, “China Yes, Arizona No”, where I exclaimed that Sarah Palin had officially become my hero. Why? Because she shined the national spotlight on the fact that Highland Park High School in Chicago, IL was not going to let their varsity girls basketball team compete in a national championship tournament, simply because the tournament was being held in Arizona (H/T Allahpundit of Hot Air). So basically, these poor girls worked their butts off all year to become the state champions—however, their school superintendent decided that it was more important to use them to make a political statement about the AZ anti-illegal immigration law (that 73% of Americans now support), than it was to reward them for their hard work.

Furthermore, what really galls me about this story is the mealy mouthed excuse that Highland Park High School gave for not wanting these girls to go to AZ. Wait for it—they were “concerned for their safety”. I’m not kidding. Now, what’s even more unbelievable, is that, two years ago, this same high school allowed their students to visit CHINA! So now, communist China is “safer” than AZ?! REALLY????!!!!! Yeah, because as Palin pointed out on a recent radio show (see embed below), nothing says women’s rights like China—where they kill baby girls or leave them to die in garbage dumps. (Palin has even offered to help raise money to send the girls to AZ).

Below is an embed of those pesky students, from the Highland Park High School girls basketball team, complaining about about a year of their hard work going down the drain. The nerve of them!! Didn’t they get the memo that it’s more important for their school to be able to use them as political pawns in order to continue the liberal indoctrination of its students?! They were so upset, that two of the girls even went on Fox News to complain about it (gasp—the horror!).

OK–let me guess. Some of you liberals out there reading this still think that I’m an evil right wing vixen who tells nasty lies about our noble public education system.

Well, today when I was watching “America Live” (yes, that dastardly Fox News strikes again!), they reported that, as six students at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in MA were being honored at their high school graduation for joining the military and received a standing ovation from the crowd, two of the school’s teachers actually refused to cheer, remained seated, and waved signs in protest (that said “End War”) instead of clapping. However, the local news also reported that some of the kids later staged a counter protest, and that many of the parents and students were outraged and wanted those teachers fired. (H/T to The Political Class for the video below.)

Did you hear that? That idiotic teacher called it “a teachable moment” for her students. That’s liberalese for “I just made a flaming ass out of myself”. Furthermore, I just loved it when the principal of the high school said, “I think that a class room is the better environment for that kind of dialogue”. Oh, I get it. Indoctrination of your students should be done quietly in a classroom behind closed doors. However, out in the open, at graduation, well….that’s a big no no.

Reason number 999,999,005 to homeschool or send your child to a private school.

Still think that I’m an evil right wing vixen who tells nasty lies–or, is even this too much truth for the biggest moonbat out there to overlook? I should hope so.

If half the energy spent on political indoctrination was diverted to basic education, our public schools would be among the best in the world. As it is, teachers unions have a vested interest in the ignorance—historical, political and economic–of our children and a vested interest in their indoctrination. Either teachers unions will cease to exist in the next few years or the public education system will be a thing of the past. I’m afraid the order already is known.

    Recommended, sadly.

Even without teacher’s unions, universal public education would still never be anything more than the worst of all possible worlds.

      Until conservatives get that… [sigh]

    • Susannah

….She took some time off to raise her kids. However, when she went back to try to get a job teaching at the local public high school, they would only give her part time work teaching a jobs training program (instead of teaching regular and honors English), even though my mother had a master’s degree in English and British literature, and years of previous experience teaching at a prestigious college. The reason why? She didn’t have tenure in the public school system.

Now, I attended that same public high school, and my freshman high school English teacher was a drunk, and my sophomore one was so lazy, that she would give us junior high level grammar work to do, while she would go hang out in the teacher’s lounge and smoke.

Anyway, a year later, my mom finally got tired of waiting and took a job at a prestigious private high school (that cost $20,000 a year to send you kid to), where she taught honors, AP and regular English. What’s so sad about this whole scenario, is that it was the kids at the public high school, being taught by drunks, who needed a good teacher like my mother–the rich kids at the private school had had good teachers their entire lives. However, the teachers unions prevented my high school from firing those lousy teachers–and hiring my mother–all because they had tenure. It’s really a very sad, but quite common, story.

Mickey Kaus, the blogger who ran against Barbara Boxer for the Democratic nomination, said his opposition to teachers unions was his only position that had universal agreement. This included people who voted for his opponent. And this was in California. As Kaus wrote, and as you and I and most people know, this strain between paying for a poor public education for the children of others while you labor to get your own child a decent private education is far too much on people.

Your mom’s story, and your take on it, are all too common now.

        It truly is sad.

        • Susannah

….I saw Mickey Kaus’ interview with Glenn Reynolds and I heard him say that that opposition to the teachers unions is the one thing that everyone agreed with him about. I think that part of this is due to the blogs and conservative news sources educating people.

However, I also think that part of it is that, since homeschooling has taken off and charter schools have become more available, people now realize that they have more options and don’t have to put up with crap from or be held hostage by the teachers unions anymore. Just my thoughts.

Take care and have a good night. :-)

Under our enemies, women should be neither seen nor heard. The Taliban would have many reasons for stoning or beheading that woman teacher. She is lucky America’s Army soldiers defend her – as are the rest of us, but most of the rest of us appreciate our soldiers.

    • Susannah

…..And, the students, themselves, even stated that they would defend her right to obnoxiously wave that sign. It’s too bad that she doesn’t appreciate it.

  • cactusjack

But you know it is true, you don’t even have to have the sound on to look at the people and tell from their faces, expression and dress which are libs and which conservatives. The video of Palin – OK that’s a gimme. The moonbat teacher with the eyes-not-quite focussed, “thousand yard stare” – seen that look in the eyes before – oh yes – it was that cult guy in CA that had his group waiting for the Mother Ship which was coming just behind the comet (no joke).

Those who serve our great country by taking up arms and donning the uniform of her mighty military swear (or affirm) to”[S]upport and defend the Constitution of the United States of America…”

We don’t have to like what poeple say about things political, but we shall defend to the death, their right to say it. We can counter-protest it, we can raise high #0ly heck about what they say, but we must defend their right to say it.
ART 1 Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech…
Pretty simple whe you come right down to it. And with each state own constitution affirm the Federal Constitution, no lower authority law can be made either.

try to make patriotism into something to be denigrated, unless of course it’s their brand of patriotism which employs such denigration.

    Which isn’t patriotism at all.

    • penguin2

In part, they were established to “protect” the populace against the faith-based schools, particularly the Catholic schools the Irish were sending their children to. But still, the schools were meant to be a significant source of teaching for the passing on of the American culture, which included the precepts of God and Country. American traditions and patriotism were big parts of this. The schools helped in assimilating the vast numbers of immigrants into the American culture.

When the government established the schools, they did not foresee the day when the type of patriotism being taught was not to traditional America. As you said, denigrating traditional America and patriotism. The schools are being subverted – some areas of the country more rapidly than others – subverted to Leftist Liberalism.

We cannot let them get away with this and have to keep exposing them. These teachers seemed to have forgotten graduation is for and about the kids, not their narcissistic selves.

  • renny

    And beyond “protests” at graduation,

Andea Peyser reports in the NY Post that a “top school” Child School in NYC just REQUIRED its k-8 students to don dresses and portray gays and transgendered part is “La Cage Aux Follies,” which would be a tough play for high school students to attempt.

Last year, the school did “To Elvis With Love” and had players cross dress because the DIRECTOR said, “The boys can feel what it’s like to dress as a girl.” WHAT????

Earlier, the school produced “The Rocky Horror Show,” was is populated with alienated “punks” and the transgendered, AGAIN IN A GRADE SCHOOL FOR LEARNING DISABLED AND AUTISTIC CHILDREN.

The principal defended the choices because children tease each other about being gay. Ergo, we will force students TO BE gay on stage in ADULT productions not intended for children.

Liberalism is all about ENFORCING its anti-social philosophies at the expense of children and any common sense.

Kids are smarter than you think.

You think they’re rebelling against their parents? Think again.

Parents and children are teaming up like never before — go ahead and let them experience your sort of tyranny!!

Cancel their trips, make fool of yourselves. Please! Out yourselves and wear pink!

You are strange, keep their parents poor while lowering their standard of living — and they keep hearing this thing about “massive debt” they’ll be inheriting.

The earth blowing up is far, far more removed from them than their not being able to go on a cool school trip.

Keep it up, you lefty jerks. You’re doing a magnificant job being the perfect radical example!!

    Ptoi!

On another note – I’m very, VERY proud of that young lady on the left who knows what’s up. She was fresh, bright, articulate and knew there was something wrong with sending kids TO CHINA v. just another state in these United States.

I’m showing this to my teenage kid to remind him there are lovely conservative girls out there — smart, and with the same values.

    Conservatives unite!!

Great post, Susannah!! I’ve followed the trail of your past posts and keeping track of them.

I’ve also just contacted my most conservative school board member to let her know we’re in the neighborhood — we’re available for her whenever, however she needs us.

I voiced my support for local control of our curriculum v. Obama’s Race to the Top that calls for international standards and benchmarks.

You parents in states w/ Race to the Top funding — find out how your children’s curriculum’s being changed, how Obama has greater control over indoctrinating your babies.

    Remember September 2009′s Kiddie Address?

Why are we allowing federal control over our local school boards and our adoption of curriculum?

    • Susannah

….And, for your involvement in your local community. Keep up the great work! :-)

      Take care.

  • From ME to You

    5 Lobsters

I am constantly amazed, but not surprised, at the lengths the lefties go to prove their idiocy.

Maybe someone should tell them that graduation day is about the graduates, not the moonbat teachers they are (thankfully) leaving behind!

    • Susannah

….And, I loved your comment as well. You echoed my sentiments exactly. I mean, how narcissistic do you have to be to crap all over your own students’ graduation day–just to make some goofy political point?!

Take care, and it’s always good to hear from you. :-)

about honoring service and giving respect than the teacher does.
How can she possibly believe that holding a protest during a ceremony to honor some graduates would not be seen as an attack on those individuals.

    • Susannah

….I just think that she got called out (which she wasn’t expecting), and now she’s backpedaling. Just my thoughts.

      Take care. :-)

School in Temecula allegedly refused to send kids to the Fiesta Bowl marching band competition so Southern California hosts are trying to send the kids to Arizona.

It really shows us the importance of beating the left at its own game. We as Conservatives say, quite rightly, that schools are no place for political indoctrination, but the left does it all the time. What happens when the liberals in charge indoctrinate in favor of liberalism, but the conservatives in charge DONT indoctrinate in favor of conservatism? A REALLY sweet deal for liberals, thats what! If we want to stop liberals from indoctrinating we need to do our own conservative form of it, until the liberals finally decide they don’t like it anymore and agree to stop doing it. And if they don’t, at least the schools will finally be a bit more fair and balanced, with students actually getting some conservative opinions to go with the constant barrage of far-left propaganda. I really hope that one day we wake up and finally decide that if the left is going to do it, we’re going to do it too, and much better because our beliefs are rooted in actual truth, not anti-americanism and other sorts of immorality and craziness.
