Well, it’s not really a surprise, but it’s not getting much press. Guess whose writing a book and is planning to do a promotional tour in October? None other than the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. He is the gift that will keep on giving.

Regardless of what he says in the book and on tour, he is indelible tied to Obama in the minds of the American public. Even if he is on his best behavior and the book is half way sane, the book release will serve as a reminder of Obama’s poor judgment and radical ties. However, it is far more likely that he will say or write something zany and perhaps even anti-American and/or racist.

This albatross will linger. I’m sure Obama’s campaign has all kinds of nasty things in the arsenal for October, as does McCain. But in the heat of October all the partisan negative attacks can become “white noise” to the general public. Many will simply tune them out.

But the good Reverend Wright is not part of McCain’s team of evil Republican corporate lobbyists nor is he a member of the vast right wing conspiracy. He’s an engaging, controversial, divisive and compelling character from Obama’s own radical past.

So spread the news. Reverend Wright’s book is going to shoot straight to the top of the New York Times Best Seller List. Whether you like him or not, the Reverend is always an interesting read. Just in time.
