My parents are in their 80′s and I know it’s just a question of time before I will be in your shoes, too. And I know that, as hard as it is on you to lose both in such a short time, if they are like my folks, then it’s a blessing that one will not have to live on without the other.

My folks have been married since 1947–for either to do without the other would be painful beyond belief. You are in my prayers.

Swamp_Yankee, my Dad passed away in March at 83 and my 14 year old dog passed away in June. It’s personally been a sucky year as I deal with a 3 of 4 kids in college and Mom in a nursing home with stage 6 Alzheimer’s Disease.

Half the time she doesn’t know Dad is gone and the other half she makes up and tells everyone about the gruesome way he died. None of it true. He passed away in the hospital. I am holding on to his ashes until my Mom passes. They were inseparable in life and they should be that way in death.

Sometimes life just sucks.

But, the sun always rises on a new day. It always does whether we want to acknowledge it or not. Even if it is obscured by dark and heavy clouds, it always rises. That’s what gets me through. The promise that tomorrow things may or may not get better but tomorrow will come and I might as well get on with it.

It’s not easy to say anything to put things into perspective, so I won’t try. Just know that I will keep you in my prayers. And yes, Gwen Ifill is a media whore. But I fail to see how she is any different than the rest of the Obamagasmic hordes… Someone once told me my serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations.
