I think I have it on pretty good authority that the comparisons between Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan are legitimate. Not because have any special insight, but because Ronald Reagan’s own conservative son wrote the following about Sarah Palin in an essay entitled “Welcome Back, Dad”:

I’ve been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we’d never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he’s a she.

And what a she!

In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad’s indomitable spirit and sent it soaring above the convention center, shooting shock waves through the cynical media’s assigned spaces and electrifying the huge audience with the kind of inspiring rhetoric we haven’t heard since my Dad left the scene.

This was Ronald Reagan at his best — the same Ronald Reagan who made the address known now solely as “The Speech,” which during the Goldwater campaign set the tone and the agenda for the rebirth of the traditional conservative movement that later sent him to the White House for eight years and revived the moribund GOP.

Last night was an extraordinary event. Widely seen beforehand as a make-or-break effort — either an opportunity for Sarah Palin to show that she was the happy warrior that John McCain assured us she was, or a disaster that would dash McCain’s presidential hopes and send her back to Alaska, sadder but wiser.

Obviously un-intimidated by either the savage onslaught to which the left-leaning media had subjected her, or the incredible challenge she faced — and oozing with confidence — she strode defiantly to the podium and proved she was everything and even more than John McCain told us.

Much has been made of the fact that she is a woman. What we saw last night, however, was something much more than a just a woman accomplishing something no Republican woman has ever achieved. What we saw was a red-blooded American with that rare, God-given ability to rally her dispirited fellow Republicans and take up the daunting task of leading them — and all her fellow Americans — on a pilgrimage to that shining city on the hill my father envisioned as our nation’s real destination.

… Welcome back, Dad, even if you’re wearing a dress and bearing children this time around.

Personally, I don’t like comparing people. There will never be another Roanld Reagan, just like there will never be another Sarah Palin. But Michael Reagan understands what was important about his dad. Conservatives don’t wax poetic over Reagan because of his budgets. The American people didn’t love Reagan because of his backroom deals with Rosty and Tip. And history doesn’t remember Reagan because he served eight years as governor.

History remembers special moments. People are inspired by special moments. Special moments made Reagan great. “The speech” made him great. A “shining city on a hill” made him great. “Tear down that wall” made him great. In an era of malaise, Reagan’s ability to connect with people, inspire them, and make them feel good about their country made him a transformative figure. He changed the course of history because he changed the way people looked at their country.

No, Sarah Palin is not another Ronald Reagan, but she does share some rare gifts with Reagan. Reagan’s own son sees it. If you have an issue with that, tell Ronald Reagan’s own son that you know more about Ronald Reagan than he does, if you dare be so arrogant.

If a conservative leader preaches conservatism and no one listens, was conservatism actually preached?

Now that the battle for NY-23 is over, I urge all conservatives to unite behind Grant Bosse, who has announced his candidacy for NH-00, New Hampshire’s infamous “fighting double zero”.

So far, Kelly Ayotte, Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass have all endorsed Grant Bosse. I won’t sugarcoat it; Bosse has an uphill fight. His official announcement explains some of the challenges that he faces.

The analysis is already making my head hurt and the book has not been released. I’m talking about “Going Rogue”. Sometimes the more you search, the less you find.

Before I’ve even read this book, I’ve stumbled upon a simple excerpt that tells me much of what I need to know. It’s the dedication. Neither Barack Obama, nor Bill Clinton, nor Hillary Clinton, nor Al Gore, nor John Kerry, nor Ted Kennedy would ever dedicate their memoir in the following manner:

to “all Patriots who share my love of the United States of America. And particularly to our women and men in uniform, past and present–God bless the fight for freedom.”

He said. She said. They said. I don’t care. Over analysis will be the endeavor of all journalists and pundits over the next couple of weeks. Like I wrote, sometimes the more you search, the less you find. The difference between Sarah Palin and the rest is evident. It is right before our eyes if only we have the insight to pierce through the diversions and smokescreens.

It is Patriots spelled with a capital “P”; It is God spelled with capital “G”; It is recognizing our men in women in uniform with prominence; and it is placing freedom above all other esteemed values and principles - all in one simple dedication sentence. Millions of readers will buy her book and glance over the dedication in search of hot scoops. I haven’t even read the book, only the dedication, and that’s all I need to know for now.

Fight for her. She is ours. She is right. She will need our support in the upcoming weeks.

Today it seems like some in Washington think that for every challenge we face, there is a big, new government solution. They don’t understand that the strength of America doesn’t come from our government. America’s greatness comes from our people, our families, our belief in personal responsibility, and it comes from our small businesses.

Government doesn’t create jobs, small businesses create jobs. I have first-hand experience with that. When Joe came back from the war, he started a landscaping and snowplowing business. There were many nights he needed help. I would go out with him and shovel snow through the night until five in the morning. I felt bad leaving him in the morning, but I could go home to go to my day job at the Attorney General’s Office. I know how hard it is to make a small business work.

Today, Joe employs 20 people. It’s Joe and the hundreds of thousands of small business men and women around this country that will bring this economy back, not the Government. We need to do everything we can to keep their taxes low and regulations less burdensome so that they can create the jobs our country needs.

More

If you think I was tough on criminals as Attorney General, just wait until you see how tough I will be on wasteful spending in Washington. This will not be easy. We need to balance the budget and I think we need a constitutional amendment to do it. We should end the spending on the stimulus bill and stop the bailouts. We need to begin to sunset government programs that have far outlived their utility. We must make our government work for us, not us working for our government.

Serious political junkies may want to keep an eye on the mayoral race in Manchester, New Hampshire. The seat was vacated by Frank Guinta, who is running against Carol “Che” Porter. The Republican, Ted Gatsas, is favored to win over The Democrat, Mark Roy. The race is important for a number of reasons.

1. Manchester, with a population of 110,000, is a conservative jewel of a city. It is the epicenter of New England conservatism. But lately, Democrats have made headway into this traditional Republican bastion.

2. The margin of victory may be indicative of a political shift in New Hampshire and the region. The numbers here will be a harbinger of key races in 2010. Republicans are hoping for sixty percent.

3. Conservatives must do more than win back traditional territory in the South and Midwest to sustain a viable majority. The GOP needs to expand its turf, build its numbers and exhaust enemy resources. New Hampshire is a worthwhile front.

4. Building the bench. The GOP needs to crawl before it can walk and walk before it can run in certain Blue states. If conservatives are to succeed in Blue States, it needs to start at the bottom, not at the top. Manchester has a history of producing talent.

In a traditional election year, there may little time to worry about a mayoral race. But in this off year, hard core political junkies may want to keep an eye on The Queen City.

The Hill is reporting that Harry Reid will pursue a public option with an opt-out for individual states despite the dissent of Olympia Snowe. Insiders claim that he has at least 58 votes and is closing in on 60.

The opt-out is bogus. Even Snowe, who is amenable to a trigger, is opposed to an opt-out. An opt-out may protect insurance industry interests in states with vulnerable Democrats; insurance companies in their respective states will not have to compete with a subsidized competitor. But Blue Dog Democrats, and their constituents, should not be fooled.

Some may argue that an opt-out is a reasonable, consensus oriented approach. Some may even try to defend this approach in the name of federalism; states that favor a public option can have one and states that oppose a public option can opt-out. But I have a question for proponents of an opt-out: opt-out of what?

Senate Democrats have not worked out the financial details of their plan. While states may opt-out of the public option, all Americans collectively share the tax and debt burdens of any public option regardless of which states offer such a plan. An opt-out does nothing to address the financial burden of public options. The Democrats may pay some lip service to private management or state control, but ultimately the federal government will be responsible for any public option plans and their deficits.

Blue Dog Democrats often fancy themselves as being fiscally responsible. But how are they representing their constituents and being fiscally responsible if people in states like Arkansas, Louisiana, and Montana are forced to pay the taxes and carry the debt for fiscally irresponsible public options that are adopted in fiscally irresponsible states like California. Its neither fair nor fiscally responsible.

Blue Dog Democrats talk the talk, but will they walk the walk when it comes to fiscal responsibility. Or will they hide behind Harry Reid’s parlor tricks and sell out their constituents. There is no tax opt-out. There is no debt opt-out. There is no true opt-out. Each and every one of us, and our children and grandchildren, will carry this burden. The opt-out is a sham and Americans need to know it.

Martha Coakley, the frontrunner for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, recently held an interview with a local media outlet and delivered an answer for the ages. During the interview, Coakley was asked about her foreign policy qualifications. She replied:

“I have a sister who lives overseas, and she’s been in England and now lives in the Middle East,”

The ridiculous remark brought instant comparisons to Sarah Palin’s comment about the proximity of Russia and Alaska, as distorted and mocked on Saturday Night Live. Palin’s remark was anecdotal, offbeat and actually interesting. Many people don’t know that Russian soil is so close to American soil that it is visable to the naked eye. Anyhow, we all know how the media rode that comment.

Coakley’s comment, on the other hand, was just straight up stupid. End of discussion.

So how did locals treat Coakley’s comment? The Boston Globe reported nothing; liberals attacked outlets that reported the story; and even Coakley’s opponents went soft on her.

Pointing out this hypocrisy is like stating the grass is green and the sky is blue. But still, this person may soon be a member of the United States Senate. And if that day comes, remember my fellow Americans, she knows all about the Middle East.

After all, her sister can see Syria from her house.

Just in time for Halloween, a horror movie review on redstate. Not since Jason Vorhees and Freddy Kruger graced the cinema has horror franchise produced a villain as popular and captivating as ‘Jigsaw’ of the mega-franchise ‘Saw’ movies. This halloween season, Saw VI comes out.

For the first five installments, audiences watched as Jigsaw laid his twisted, torture traps for his unsuspecting victims. In each installment, we learned a little more about Jigsaw. Now, in movie number six, we get a retrospective; a series of flashbacks takes the audience back to the source of Jigsaw’s rage and evil. Any guesses? Possessed by demons? Victim of abuse? Someone killed his family? Aliens?

The answer is his insurance company! Jigsaw had cancer and could not get coverage. Rejected by “Umbrella” insurance, Washington politicians, and a couple of loan officers, poor Mr. Jonathan Kramer becomes — “Jigsaw” and commences his murder spree.

I. NRCC Dismisses Conservative Jennifer Horn

Fresh off their NY-23 debacle, it looks like the NRCC has done it again. Conservatives in New Hampshire have caught wind of a NRCC email that has them vexed. The email from Pete Sessions states:

Who will step up to the plate? Well, we’ve had incredible success in recruiting some of the best candidates we’ve seen in a long time, including former Rep. Charlie Bass (NH-01); state senator Robert Hurt (VA-05); Greg Newman, the mayor of Hendersonville, North Carolina (NC-11); state representative Scott Bruun (OR-05); and former state senator Joe Heck (NV-03). It’s no secret that these individuals come from heated battleground states, and their victories could represent significant turning points — both literally and figuratively — for our party.

The first insult is that Frank Guinta is already running in NH-01. That must be a mistake because Guinta is part of the NRCC’s Young Gun Program. Bass is running for NH-02. The second insult is that a viable conservative, Jennifer Horn, has already announced her intention to run for NH-02.

The Keene Sentinel recently wrote an article on Jennifer Horn and her favorable chances in 2010. NH-02 is an open seat. With a conservative wind blowing in New Hampshire and no incumbent to defeat, the conservative Horn can win that seat.

A political newcomer in 2008, Horn ran an uphill campaign and lost in a tough year for Republicans. But she ran a respectable campaign and built a strong base of support. With an eye towards the future, Horn kept her 2008 campaign website up and became a voice for conservatism on local talk radio.

Bass, voted out of office in 2006, remains on the Republican Main Street Coalition board. His congressional voting record is decent, but he has many liberal votes to defend. It is no coincidence that he is already emphasizing issues that “unite” all Republicans.

The NRCC should back off at this early juncture. Each candidate, including the more conservative Horn, is viable and deserves a chance to make their case to the Republican voters of New Hampshire without undue influence from the NRCC.

II. Kelly Ayotte Officially Announces

Its no secret that she intended to run, but Kelly Ayotte made her Senate campaign official on Saturday. Her announcement touched on many standard Republican talking points, but this little folksy anecdote caught my attention:

The mother of two said she wants to be an independent voice for New Hampshire, and the relative newcomer is already getting some advice. “I met a farmer at a state fair,” she said. “He gave me some New Hampshire water and said, ‘Kelly, don’t drink that Washington water because it seems everyone who goes there forgets where they came from.’”

III. The Second Amendment and Citizen Action Thwarts Robber

A little story for gun rights advocates and defenders of old fashion justice. In Keene:

Police said a man robbed the Apothecary Pharmacy at about 5 p.m. on Monday. Police said he left with painkillers and was spotted by at least two men nearby. “Basically, he came right out the door and was running, so I followed him into the alleyway,” said witness James Schlessinger. Schlessinger openly carries a gun and said he wasn’t concerned about the possibility of the man having a weapon. “I was armed and I wasn’t so scared because his attention wasn’t so much on other people as it was running away,” Schlessinger said. Schlessinger said he never had to pull the gun. He said that he also got a good look at the man when whatever was covering his face fell off as he ran.

Local painter Michael Steever had just finished cashing a check at a nearby bank when he saw the incident. “I was coming out of the bank, and I saw them running down the alley,” Steever said… when the suspected robber got to a car at the end of the alley, Schlessinger memorized the plate number while Steever got in his own car and tailed the man. “I got right on with the Keene Police Department and told them every turn I was taking, speeds and description,” Steever said. “They didn’t even realize he was in a car. They thought he was still on foot.” Within a few minutes, police showed up and arrested Ross Knowles Taylor, 48. Officers took him back to the pharmacy, where Schlessinger identified him.

“This is a family town here,” Steever said. “I was raised here, and I just hope someone would do the same for me if I needed it.” “Just because someone isn’t harming us doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look out for someone next to us,” Schlessinger said.

God bless New Hampshire. There’s hope for New England yet.

The American Thinker had an interesting piece regarding a new Zogby poll. The immigration debate is looming and Zogby, to his credit, decided to poll those whole will likely be the subject of much discussion, Mexicans in Mexico, including those with families in America and those with aspirations of coming to America. Pundits will pretend that they understand and speak for illegal aliens, but do they really? This is just one poll from one country and may not be indicative of attitudes in other countries, but it is revealing:

… the think tank stated that: “Of Mexicans with a member of their immediate household in the United States, 65 percent said a legalization program would make people they know more likely to go to America illegally.”

And that raises another question: Just how many more Mexicans would like to immigrate to America? According to CIS: “Interest in going to the United States remains strong even in the current recession, with 36 percent of Mexicans (39 million people) saying they would move to the United States if they could. At present, 12 to 13 million Mexico-born people live in the United States.”

Most Americans would be shocked by how the majority of Mexicans felt about America. According to CIS:

“An overwhelming majority (69 percent) of people in Mexico thought that the primary loyalty of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) should be to Mexico. Just 20 percent said it should be to the United States. The rest were unsure.”

“Also, 69 percent of people in Mexico felt that the Mexican government should represent the interests of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) in the United States.”

I started to ponder those numbers and then thought that maybe I should refrain. As a supposed angry, white male, and alleged recipient of legacy wealth, perhaps I should defer to others from “victim” classes, who are more appropriately suited to comment than myself. As we all should know, prejudice is warranted if it promotes a noble end, as determined by left wing intellectuals and their mouthpieces in the mainstream media. I figure I’d just concede that point before some liberal reminds me that we all come from immigrant families and that everyone deserves a chance to pursue the American dream.

That’s how the amnesty debate is going down. Identity politics and emotions. The merits are irrelevant. Liberals will frame the parties in this debate before the debate even begins.

All four of my grandparents were first generation Americans. They grew up in the dirty, dense and hardened Portuguese and Polish immigrant boroughs of old New England mill cities. They spoke the old tongue; quietly cherished the old culture; and worked humble jobs. I have no American blood that precedes the Twentieth Century, but some liberal will remind me that we all come from immigrant families.

They survived the Great Depression packed in death trap, tenement apartments. Hungry and barefoot, they scavenged the nearby woods in search of food and were delighted to find some wild berries to accompany their standard meal of bread and government issued cheese. But one more time, can some liberal please remind me that we all come from immigrant families. I cant seem to get that fact through my spoiled, angry, racist head.

I know I’m suppose to view illegal aliens as a saintly class; hard working, desperate, aspiring patriots, who just want a better life for their children. Just like my grandparents, they tell me, aside from the fact that they obeyed the law, embraced their new culture, learned English, fought our wars, put away the old flags, waved the Stars and Stripes, and had all their children fully assimilated in one generation. To me, that’s the “quintessential American story”, not the story of someone who was born here and continues to act like a foreign national like a certain Supreme Court justice.

I know first hand that many illegal aliens do have good intentions, but I am also know that many don’t. I have befriended many illegal aliens, but I’m suppose to play the role of the insular, white, ignoramus. Through experience, and vindicated by this poll, I know that many have no loyalty or affection for this country. Even though many use our country like a giant ATM, I’m just suppose listen to sentimental anecdotes that are supposed to tug at my heartstrings.

I didn’t even get around to the poll. I figure I better get used to it now because, like I stated earlier, that’s how its going down. The merits won’t matter. The Democrats desperately need the amnesty votes. They have the welfare and indoctrination mechanisms in place to ensure that the overwheling majority of new citizens will be loyal to the Democratic Party. That is all this is about: VOTES. And anyone who gets in their way will be demonized as an insensitive racist.

Organizing for America (OFA) is rallying its troops and holding mass ‘house parties’ on Tuesday with the aim of making 100,000 phone calls to Congress in one day.

On Tuesday, October 20th, OFA volunteers will gather at “Time to Deliver” Call Parties in living rooms like yours across the country.

Remember this is only one vote to get one bill out of one committee. That is all. Snowe acknowledges that she still has reservations and that there are huge holes in the bill. Any shift to the left may change her vote on the floor.

Here are some realities to ponder. In 2008, Obama carried Maine by 18 points. In 2008, Susan Collins beat popular Congressman Tom Allen by 23 points. In 2006, when Republicans were crushed, Snowe retained her seat with 74% of the vote. Olympia Snowe, like Susan Collins, isn’t going anywhere. She is extremely popular.

Furthermore, the conservative and libertarian strains that do exist in Maine are very independent. It’s a stubbornly independent state, as reflected by their two Senators. Some of you may recall that Maine was the only state where Ross Perot finished second, besting George H.W. Bush. There is no great loyalty to the national GOP up there.

I support grass roots activism, but pure venom from outsiders has little effect on politicians like Snowe. Snowe didn’t run on a platform that she’d be to loyal to the GOP whip; on a platform that she’d follow Mitch McConnell; or on a platform that she’d listen to people in Texas. Does Tom Coburn care what Boston Republicans think about his actions? Would Jeff Sessions tremble if a bunch of Log Cabin Republicans from New York City with funny accents flooded his office with hateful calls.

The problem is that such venom can actually backfire. If Mainers see a bunch of people ganging up against one their own, they are more likely to rally around her. There are ways to engage in activism that isn’t silly, futile or counter-productive:

1. Snowe and her staffers will tune out venom if it is not coming from Mainers. Express outrage constructively, thoughtfully and passionately; but not with spite, hate or threats. When Southerners and Westerners attack Snowe and Collins, it reinforces negative stereotypes and sectionalism. Such tactics actually make it more difficult being a Republican up here. Many New Englanders feel that the GOP is a Southern party and that they have no place in it. Be respectful. It goes a long way in Old New England.

2. Try to use as many local outlets as you can. I compiled a list of phone numbers and emails during the cap and trade debate. Along with their offices, I used local radio hosts, newspapers and industry groups. For example, staffers may not care what a lobsterman from Massachusetts thinks about cap and trade, but they do care what the Maine Lobsterman Association has to say. I’ll bet Snowe and Collins listen to the MLA. Lobstermen will listen to each other, so I sent emails to various fishery groups and let them apply the pressure. I also got in touch with local radio hosts. If you know people from Maine, rally them. One call from a Mainer is worth ten thousand calls from Texans.

3. Use her. Let the hate dissipate for a moment. No one knows where she will stand when this bill comes out of conference committee or what’s going to happen next. But Snowe has tons of instant good will and credibility amongst independents, Democrats and the MSM. If we can turn her on the foor, it will be absolutely devastating. We can also use her good will against any attempt at reconciliation or any other chicanery. She put herself in position to control this whole thing. Stopping this monstrosity is more important than pursuing revenge. Alienating her now is stupid.

4. She’s marked her independence. She has shown her constituents that she is open minded and willing to work with Obama. She felt that she needed to do that. In the future, this vote may help her vote with the GOP. Now, she is free to rebuff Obama’s agenda without fear of being labeled a partisan or a lackey. That is a big key for her in that state. Her popularity is based on her independence. There was no way that she was going to vote with GOP all the time. If she sides with the Dems on enough procedural votes, it may free her up to side with the GOP when the vote actually matters. The House bill will have a public option and it will be more expensive. This Baucus Bill is not the final act. The final bill will be worse. There may be an opportunity to turn her yet and this vote may actually free her up to vote no.

5. Snowe isn’t even up for re-election until 2012 and she is practically unbeatable. Save your energy for defeating legislation in this cycle. That is the most important thing. After that, focus on a handful of Senate seats in 2010 that will give the GOP a healthy filibuster and then Snowe will be irrelevant. In the end, after all the huffing and puffing, that is the best hope for conservatives.

Remember this is only one vote to get one bill out of one committee. That is all. Snowe acknowledges that she still has reservations and that there are huge holes in the bill. Any shift to the left may change her vote on the floor.

This autumn, Peggy Noonan left her New York City digs for Cambridge to be a guest lecturer at Harvard. I’m leery of self-anointed, East Coast, Republican elites, but my distaste for Noonan reached new levels when she decided to act like a teenage girl in a Miley Cyrus movie and hurled such petty insults at Sarah Palin that her invective had to be personal. These insults came from the same woman who wrote a book called ‘Patriotic Grace’ and made it a point to be gracious to some of the most loathesome liberals.

The sophisticated and cosmopolitan Noonan may have thought she’d be comfortable at Harvard. Although she may believe in some different principles, she was amongst the educated elite, her people. Instead, she is turning into a campus joke. The word on campus is that she is an airhead who can’t put a cohesive and cogent lecture together. Gawker has compiled a list of her hillarious greatest hits – so far.

Even Sarah Palin would fare better at Harvard because Palin is smart enough to know who she is and to know who her enemies are. As a conservative, Noonan is the enemy at Harvard. Yet, she is too naïve and too delusional for her appointment. Noonan reminds me of an old aspiring European aristocrat, who feels more comfortable with the ruling elite of an enemy than with the rabble of their own country. Conservatives like Noonan do not understand the viciousness or the tactics of the left nor do they understand Middle America. I’m glad Noonan is getting ridiculed. Maybe she’ll figure out who represents the real backbone of this country.

It was only a short while ago when Noonan wrote that Palin “doesn’t read” and that Palin is a “ponder-free zone” who “wasn’t thoughtful enough to know she wasn’t thoughtful enough”. Noonan cast Palin off with a resounding good riddance. But the verdict from the intellectual elite at Harvard is in and they decree that Peggy Noonan is also a “ponder free zone”. Now, it is Noonan who is being mocked for being an incoherent airhead and an intellectual lightweight. The beautiful irony.

I haven’t much to add to the Kevin Jennings story, but I’ve been thinking about another story that happened twelve years ago involving the rape and murder of an eight year old boy. It’s easy to tug at heartstrings and make sentimental appeals. This story was gut wrenching, but it also addressed important issues regarding NAMBLA. It was 1997 when I first realized that NAMBLA was more than a joke.

I would like to know how Kevin Jennings feels about the case of Curley v. NAMBLA (U.S.D.C. Mass. 2000). That case involved the murder of Jeffrey Curley by two members of NAMBLA. Jeffrey Curley was an eight year old boy who vanished in 1997. It was one of those missing person cases that captured hearts and headlines. Like too many missing person cases, this one ended tragically.

Jeffrey Curley’s mutilated and dismembered body was eventually found in a cement filled container on the bottom of a Maine river. Without getting into detail, Jeffrey was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. When Jeffrey fought back, his rapist suffocated him with a gasoline soaked rag and continued his sexual assault by raping the boy’s corpse.

The connections between NAMBLA and the rapists were explored. A lawsuit that was filed in 2000 was eventually dropped, but NAMBLA was exposed. In 2004, Deroy Murdock of the National Review wrote a great piece exploring the pernicious relationship between ACLU, NAMBLA and Jeffrey Curley’s rapists. Those who have questions about Kevin Jennings should read the whole thing. In part:

NAMBLA is “not just publishing material that says it’s OK to have sex with children and advocating changing the law,” says Larry Frisoli, a Cambridge attorney who is arguing the Curleys case in federal court. NAMBLA, he says, “is actively training their members how to rape children and get away with it. They distribute child pornography and trade live children among NAMBLA members with the purpose of having sex with them.”

Frisoli cites a NAMBLA publication he calls “The Rape and Escape Manual.” Its actual title is “The Survival Manual: The Man’s Guide to Staying Alive in Man-Boy Sexual Relationships.”

“Its chapters explain how to build relationships with children,” Frisoli tells me. “How to gain the confidence of children’s parents. Where to go to have sex with children so as not to get caught…There is advice, if one gets caught, on when to leave America and how to rip off credit card companies to get cash to finance your flight. It’s pretty detailed.”

“In his diary, Jaynes said he had reservations about having sex with children until he discovered NAMBLA,” Frisoli continues. “It’s in his diary in 1996, around the time he joined NAMBLA, one year before the death of Jeffrey Curley.”

The practical, step-by-step advice Jaynes followed goes far beyond appeals to sway public opinion in favor of pedophilia. Such language aids and abets felonious conduct. If such conspiracy results in homicide, it is reasonable for NAMBLA to face civil liability if not criminal prosecution.

Ohio’s Court of Appeals found NAMBLA complicit in an earlier child-rape case. NAMBLA’s literature, discovered in a defendant’s possession, reflected “preparation and purpose,” according to the Buckeye State’s top bench.

This was the basis for the Curley’s lawsuit against the origanization. Avoiding legalese, a brief wikipedia summary:

According to the Curleys’ suit, Jaynes and Sicari “stalked Jeffrey Curley… and tortured, murdered and mutilated [his] body on or about October 1, 1997. Upon information and belief immediately prior to said acts Charles Jaynes accessed NAMBLA’s website at the Boston Public Library.”

According to police, Jaynes had eight issues of a NAMBLA publication in his home at the time of his arrest. The lawsuit further alleges that “NAMBLA serves as a conduit for an underground network of pedophiles in the United States who use their NAMBLA association and contacts therein and the Internet to obtain child pornography and promote pedophile activity.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) stepped in to defend NAMBLA and won a dismissal based on the specific legal issue that NAMBLA is organized as an association, not a corporation. The Curleys continued the suit as a wrongful death action against individual NAMBLA members and NAMBLA Steering Committee members.

The target of the wrongful death suits were Roy Radow, Joe Power, David Miller, Peter Herman, Max Hunter, Arnold Schoen and David Thorstad, a co-founder of NAMBLA and well-known writer. The Curleys alleged that Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari, who were convicted of the rape and murder of the Curleys’ ten-year-old son Jeffrey, were NAMBLA members… The plaintiffs dropped their lawsuit in April 2008, after a judge ruled that a key witness was not competent to testify.

For eight years, the Curley family and their lawyers labored in the courts. Powerful liberal advocacy groups stonewalled their case and the Curleys suffered a series of “technical” defeats. But the core substantive legal issues regarding NAMBLA remain. Where does our Safe Schools Czar and NAMBLA sympathizer, Kevin Jennings, stand? If we had a hearing, we would know.

[A Rant Inspired By A Week Of Arguing With My Liberal Neighbors And Friends.]

Why do conservatives celebrate the failures of Barack Obama? I am so sick of this topic, but it keeps popping s up, so I’ll add my two cents. I gleefully celebrated Obama’s embarrassing Olympic debacle. I was thrilled. People and pundits across the spectrum tried to psychoanalyze people like me. Speaking for myself, they were woefully wrong. This topic is a week old, but as I read all the subsequent commentary I was struck by how many people noted the vanity of Obama’s mission and pitch. I’m glad they stumbled into the truth. Obama misfired and his miscalculation was witnessed by the world.

I don’t care about the Obamas. I do care about my country and that is why I celebrate. It is not Obama’s failure that I celebrate; it is the failure of his worldview. It has been revealed to all that the humbling of America will provide little benefit for my countrymen. I celebrate because liberal assumptions have been debunked. Apologizing for America and kowtowing to other nations may win smiles, but it will not win peace, prosperity or power. I celebrate because this simple truth has triumphed. I could elaborate on specific policy matters, but I believe in short, succinct messages.

This is my simple message. Would you prefer that Obama’s ineffectiveness be revealed in the arena of nuclear weapons or the global economy or would you prefer that his ineffectiveness be revealed in the arena of sport? I thought so. Now, shut your mouth.

Obama cast too big of a net during the election. He promised too many things to too many people with conflicting expectations. Did the boy “genius” think he was going to keep a coalition with Bill Ayers radicals and Jim Jones Democrats together? How soon his tenuous coalition would unravel was the only question. We now know the answer to that question is lightning fast. It seems like his chickens are coming home to roost.

Bill Ayers has made a stunning claim that he wrote “Dreams From My Father”. This could be a bombshell if confirmed. I suspect Ayers is frustrated with Obama. Remember, before they helped launched Obama’s political career, Bill Ayers and his nympho squeeze, Bernadine Dohrn, made their bones as hardcore anti-war protestors. Obama’s trepidation and inaction on Gitmo, Iraq and Afghanistan must infuriate them. This seems like a shot across his bow from the radical left.

“WARNING: We Made You; We Know You; Advance Or We Will Expose You.”

Bill Ayers may be many insidious things, but he is not stupid. He is cunning and manipulative. I doubt his comments were an accident. Perhaps the radicals know that their window for radical institutional change is short and that Obama is wasting precious time. Or perhaps they believe Obama will fail as a traditional Democrat and would rather not attach themselves to a lame duck “sellout” who will set back their movement.

Many pundits have already ridiculed millionaire Michael Moore and his hypocritical attacks on capitalism. Now, ABC News provides even more damning evidence of Moore’s utter hypocrisy and possible dementia.

During the production of ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’, Moore bypassed the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and hired “scabs”. The IATSE is a union that represents the real laborers on movie sets, but Moore didn’t think IATSE workers were qualified to work on his movie.

This is further evidence that Moore must suffer from some sort of dissociative mental disorder. No one can be that hypocrital unless they are sick. But considering Moore’s ideology and his idolatry of marxist murderers like Che and Fidel, I guess it makes perfect sense. The man really is mentaly ill and I’m not being rhetorical.

I’m not trying to rip off Hot Air or post a short diary, but the mock PSA ‘Listen To Overpaid Celebrites’ is too awesome to not spread. It has the dual effect of sticking it to Hollywood actors — lampooning the lampooners — and it also provided oodles of good information in a deliciously sarcastic and effective manner.

Have a laugh and spread this around:
